since this is a five-year gap between the two films, Silvia is now 31 instead of 26

Recap...

Now that Gozer was defeated, hauntings turned up less and less, making the Ghostbusters running down the sidewalk a less common sighting. Ray had opened his book shop, 'Rays Occult Books', Winston had started his own business and was financially stable, Egon and Silvia started dating (super happy together of course), but Peter... We don't talk about him.

FIVE YEARS LATER

Dana went up the stairs and into The Institute for Advanced Theoretical Research where Silvia and Egon worked together. She had called earlier about her baby's carriage moving itself into the middle of the busy streets, then stopping, almost getting hit by a bus.

"It went right out into the middle of traffic and I started really running after it. And then it just suddenly stopped, right in the middle of the street." Dana explained to them.

"Mhm, and did anyone else see this happen?" Egon asked her.

"Well, sure, hundreds of people. Guys, I didn't imagine this." Dana said.

"We're not saying you did, it's just in science we always look for the simplest explanation," Silvia said as she adjusted her lab coat. "We're ready."

"Good, we'll start with the negative calibration," Egon told Silvia, to which she nodded. The three of them stood behind a big two-way mirror where on the other side a married couple was arguing.

"What are you two working on?" Dana asked.

"More like what he's working on, I just help here and there, bring his coffee, etcetera," Silvia said.

"I'm trying to determine whether human emotions actually affect the physical environment. It's a theory Ray and I had when we were all still Ghostbusters." Egon said, ending his sentence with a sad tone. Silvia smiled, remembering the fun times they had. Remind me to never let Ray have marshmallows again...

"Can they see us?" Dana asked.

"No. They think they're here for marriage counseling." Egon stated.

"It's going splendid," Silvia said sarcastically.

"We kept them waiting for two and half hours and I've been gradually increasing the temperature in the room. It's up to ninety-five degrees at the moment. Now my assistant has asked them if they'd mind waiting another half-hour." Egon said.

"They're gonna be real happy about this," Silvia commented.

"Oh, good. Very good. Very, very nice." Egon smiled as he used his emotion detector and scanned the fighting couple.

"So, Egon, what do you think?" Dana asked.

"Excellent, just excellent. Do the happiness index next." Egon said as he wrote down some notes on a clipboard.

"She meant about her baby carriage, dear," Silvia said.

"Well, I'd like to bring Ray on this, if you don't mind," Egon said.

"Sure, whatever you think. But not Venkman." Dana said. Silvia scoffed under her breath when she heard his name.

"Oh, no," Egon said.

"Do you ever see him?" Dana asked.

"Occasionally."

"How is he these days?" Dana asked again.

"Peter? Well, he was borderline for a while." Egon said. "Then he crossed the border." Silvia snorted when he said this.

"Does he ever mention me?" Dana said.

"No," Egon said flatly whilst scanning her with his emotion detector. Egon looked at the readings, raising his eyebrows afterward.

"Oh. Well, we didn't part on very good terms. Then we sort of lost track of each other after I got married." Dana explained.

"We're ready for the affection test now," Silvia said.

"Good, send in the puppy, please," Egon said, Silvia went inside the room and handed the little girl inside the puppy, shortly returning to Egon and Dana.

"I thought of getting in touch with him after my marriage ended but..." Dana's voice trailed off as she bent down and watched as the little girl hugged the puppy to her chest.

"I appreciate your doing this," Dana said to them.

"Try not to worry," Silvia said.

"Here's my phone number, you'll call me?" Dana said, handing her a card.

"Yes, we'll call you," Silvia replied.

"I'd rather you didn't mention any of this to Peter if you don't mind," Dana said.

"We won't," Silvia said, Dana giving them each a hug before leaving.

"Her poor baby.. that's gonna be one weird story he's gonna hear when he's older," Silvia said. Egon usually responded to her comments, but this time he didn't say anything.

"What's on your mind?" Silvia asked as she held his hand.

"What other tests should we do for this experiment..." Egon asked himself. Silvia tried to think, then a rather... intrusive thought came into her mind. She whispered her idea into Egons ear, his face turning pink afterward. Silvia was quick to walk away, knowing what she had done. Egon quickly stood up and went over to her assistant, still rather flustered.

"Let's see what happens when we take away the puppy," Egon said to his assistant; she had a rather confused look on her face, but went with it anyway.

Egon and Silvia walked hand in hand into Ray's bookstore together, ranting to him about Dana's baby carriage situation. They picked out a couple of the books at the shop and read them, finding interesting things that tied into Dana's case as they went along.

"This one's interesting, Ray. Berlin, 1939. A flower cart took off by itself, rolled half a kilometer, three hundred eyewitnesses." Egon said as he read from the book he had in his hands.

"Berlin, huh? You know, you should also check Duke University studies on controlled psychokinesis." Ray suggested.

"I already pulled it," Silvia said, holding up the book.

"Perhaps you could help me I'm looking for a love potion aerosol that I could spray on a certain Penthouse Pet to obtain her total submission," Peter said as he walked into Ray's shop and took off his coat.

"Hello, Venkman," Egon said, unphased.

"Hi, Pete. How's it going?" Ray asked his friend.

"Very well. Hi Egon. How's school?" Peter said. "I bet those science chicks really dig that large cranium of yours, huh?"

"I think they're more interested in my epididymis," Egon said, Peter, scoffing afterward.

"Ehemm?? His girlfriend is standing right here!" Silvia said, arms crossed in front of her chest.

"Yeah, yeah. Ray, let's close this place up so you can buy me a calzone." Peter said.

"I really can't do that right now, Pete. I'm working on something. But your book came in." Ray said, handing him a book from behind the counter. "Magical Paths to Fortune and Power."

"Good luck with that, Venkman." Egon said, Ray and Silvia, laughing together as Peter had a 'what the fuck' look on his face.

"Put this on my account please?" Peter asked.

"Sure," Ray said, not looking up from his book.

"Ray, take a look at this," Silvia said, holding an open book in front of his face. Ray nodded.

"What are you guys working on?" Peter asked them curiously.

"Uh, well, we're just kind of.." Ray said.

"Ahem..." Egon said as he walked around the back of the shop.

"...checking something out for an old friend." Ray finished.

"Neat. Who?" Peter asked. Nosy-ass.

"Um..." Ray stammered, the phone ringing shortly after, thank god. "Rays Occult... Seven o'clock on weekdays, midnight on Saturdays..thank you." Ray said, handing up the phone. Peter lifted Ray's face by his chin.

"Who?" Peter asked.

"Who? Just someone we know." Ray said, trying to leave it at that.

"Ohh.." Peter said. He stood up from the stool he was sitting on and grabbed poor Ray by the ears. Ouch.

"I can't! No, no, no!" Ray exclaimed in agony.

"Yes, you can. Who?" Peter instigated.

"Nobody, nobody!!" Ray said.

"Can you tell me now?" Peter said as he pinched harder on Ray's ears.

"Ray, don't-!" Silvia said. Too late.

"Dana Barrett!" Ray finally confessed. Silvia facepalmed for the millionth time. This bitch I swear to god-

Peter's eyes widened as he let go of Ray. "My Dana Barrett?" After hearing that news, he quickly left the shop, grabbing his coat on the way out.

"Nice one, Mr. I Summoned a Marshmallow Man," Silvia said, kicking him in the shin(s) before leaving with Egon.

"Dana's gonna kill us," Egon said.

"Crossing my fingers she at least plans our funerals," Silvia said, crossing her fingers as she and Egon waited for a taxi to take them back to their apartment.
