Mourning and living on

Is the oddest duality

I have ever lived through

One minute I'm swallowing down tears

In the hallway of a church

And the next,

I'm jumping and screaming to the songs

That my brother's band

Is singing,

But all the while

I'm checking my phone

To make sure no one has died.
