**Episode 040: The Wall of Reason is More Fragile than You Think (Yukki Kanaâs Perspective)**
The time goes back to a few days before Kotaro rushed to Academyâs health room..
â Yukki Kanaâs Side
âSeiya!
âHaa!â
We snuck out in the middle of the night, got past the guards, and defeated the shadow. So far, we had no problem defeating them.
But because of the darkness, we canât move too boldly, so we donât kill as many as weâd like. But it is better than doing nothing. I donât want to be eaten by them.
âThatâs enough for today.
âYes, thatâs enough for today.
It was almost twenty-four oâclock, and if I didnât go home and sleep soon, I would have trouble the next day. Although there was no danger of losing if we fought normally, it would definitely be dangerous if we were careless. It is very important to get proper sleep.
I took my sisterâs suggestion and we returned to school.
âWeâre going to be part of the strike team?â
âYeah. What do you think?â
âAs I recall, we were in the running, but we werenât selected, were we? Why now?
The next day, when we returned from our watch, we were offered the chance to join the defeat squad. But my sister was right, we should have been omitted from that selection due to our age and gender.
How could it be that we were now being selected?
âWell, thatâs why I heard in the report that you guys are very strong. I wanted to ask you to help us.â
âReally? Not that we donât mind, but â¦â¦â
âI donât mind either.â
âWell, thanks for taking care of it.â
He seemed kind of flustered, but without question, we decided to join in as well.
This was a great opportunity for us, since we would be able to level up in a big way. Weâll take care not to make up the level difference by defeating the enemies ourselves as much as possible.
âNo, we were hoping to do the same.â
âThatâs right. Iâm going to ask you to join us tomorrow, is that okay?â
âYes. Yes, thatâs fine.â
âOkay. Okay, Iâll take care of it then.
âOkay.â
We finished our conversation and went back to our room.
ââ¦â¦ sorry.â
As we turned our backs to the teacher and started walking toward the audio-visual room, I turned around to see what he had muttered in a voice too small to hear, but he had already turned his back on us and was staggering away.
âI wonder if it was my imagination. â¦â¦â
âHmm? Is something wrong?â
âHmm. Nothing, sis.â
My sister noticed my muttering and peeked in, but I didnât want to make her uneasy, so I didnât say anything.
The next day.
We were soon to join the defeat squad. We were divided into several groups to scavenge for supplies. We were assigned to a group that was incredibly unpleasant.
âYo, Iâve been waiting for you, Yuna, Kana.â
Thatâs because it was a group of people who were the first to get their hands on women.
âI donât recall giving you permission to call me names, sir.â
âMe neither.â
The leader of that group was getting familiar with me, so my sister responded and I followed.
âDonât be so rigid. Itâs just me and you guys.â
âI donât know what you are talking about. We just met the other day.â
The older sister replies, interrupting his hand as he tries to touch us without a care in the world about our attitude.
âHey, hey, weâre friends who are going to fight together. Letâs get along and fuck, okay?â
The leader smiles a troubled smile with a gesture that makes me feel like yare-yare. And the intonation after âget alongâ is clearly strange.
Thatâs what these guysâ gazes tell me. They just want to vent their sexual desires on us.
âWe donât have to get along with each other. We just do what we need to do.â
âYes, yes you do. Iâm the leader for now. Iâll ask you to follow the necessary orders during the action of defeat.â
The man says as if to spit at his sister who doesnât seem to be dominated at all.
âIf it is a legitimate order, I will follow it.â
Sis snickered in a huff.
âDamn. Well then, letâs get the hell out of here.â
The man clicked his tongue in amusement and took the lead, jumping over the school gate. We followed him out of the school.
We then followed the manâs instructions to get supplies as we took down the shadows near the school. The men basically carried our bags and didnât try to get us to carry them. I wish this was out of goodwill with no ulterior motives, but Iâm not happy at all because they have nothing but ulterior motives.
âItâs time to take a break.â
After some supplies have been gathered, the man urges us to take a break. Itâs more sane than I thought.
âHere you go.â
âThank you.â
âThank you.â
One of the men handed us a drink, which we accepted, and we drank it without question because we were thirsty. I drank it.
âOh â¦â¦â
âEhh â¦â¦.â
The moment we drank the drink, our entire body lost strength and we became dazed.
Oh shit â¦â¦. I shouldnât have allowed myself to be so attentive to these people. â¦â¦
âHa-ha-ha-ha!â
âWhat â¦â¦?â
The laugh was allowed by the leader guy. I had to ask, even though the laughter made me think of something I didnât like.
It was clearly these guys who had driven us crazy.
âYou guys are so strong. Thatâs why youâre a tangle.â
The man said with a grin.
We had underestimated. We had underestimated menâs desires. The anarchy of a world without laws and ethics. The fragility of menâs rationality when they gain power and get carried away.
As my strength drained away, my sister looked at me.
I understand her intentions and shove my hands in my pockets.
âYaaaah!â
âI didnât know you still had that kind of power left in you!â
The next moment, Sis stood around with a flourish to attract the men.
This drew the menâs gazes to the older sister.
I took my phone out of my pocket and sent a message to Kotaro, âHelp me,â and put it in my pocket again, then I couldnât stand and fell down on the spot, losing consciousness.
âNn, nn~!â
âNn~~!â
The next time we woke up, our hands were bound with something hard, a cloth-like object was held over our mouths, and men were holding us down with vile smiles on their faces.
I thought of the scene that was about to befall us and despaired.
Kotaro help me â¦â¦.
I could do nothing but pray.@@novelbin@@
