I have been training my powers non-stop all week, I don't know if it's Amaris' warnings about watching over our mate that keeps me practicing until I see double or the fact that I always feel like I'm being watched. Either way I'm on edge. I have been heeding the warning from Amaris by making sure I keep a close eye on Mal but it's hard when I have to train, and watch him. He has pack duties, and responsibilities. He's been especially busy calling packs, forming alliances before this war comes.
Therefore he can't give me his full attention because he's been so stressed out and worried about our well being, the doomsday clock is ticking but we don't know when it'll go off.
I try to give him energy from the plants but I'm running out of healthy grass to use!
We recently took in three teens, one of which who I know is Samantha the ex friend of Kim who used to bully me, and two guys who I've only seen on watch, they've been requiring too much of Mals' attention. I'm getting the notion that they're trying to keep us apart, call me clingy! But this gnawing feeling is telling me otherwise.
I growled blowing aggressively on the large amount of bubbles that stood in front of my face. I'm supposed to be relaxing but how do I do that when I have this feeling that I should be doing something?!
I laid my head against the tub looking up at the ceiling, popping a cherry into my mouth. Despite that nagging feeling this bath was very much needed. I've been training myself past the point of mental and physical exhaustion, I sunk down deeper into the water. I miss Mal so much and how we were always together but he's busy right now and he needs to get some work done.
I want my mate.
I sat in my leather chair rubbing my hands tiredly over my face. I was going over documents for our packs safety, signing alliances and casualty liability forms. There's so much riding on my shoulders right now. My mind immediately went to Jadah, the thought of her bringing me peace. I let out a sigh before propping my head up on my palm.
My powerful little angel. We have been distant since I've been to busy with working on preparations for this war. I try to help train her with her powers but I don't have the energy anymore, she tries to use her powers on me but we all know that if she continues to take energy away from the plants my whole backyard will be nothing but brown dead grass.
She has gotten so much stronger than she was, her powers take less of a toll on her wellbeing. I'm so proud of her.
I'm exhausted. The only quality time I get with her is when I get to our room and by that time she's already showered and in bed. I haven't had time to get any either! I haven't had sex with my mate since after we mated and I'm feeling frustrated. I need her body, holding her is only doing so much. I just need my mate.
Screw this.
"Angel?" I asked through our link. She was silent before answering,
"Yes Mal?" She sounded groggy,
"Were you sleeping?" I asked softly, feeling bad for waking her.
"No, no. Did you need something?" She asked and I smiled. She misses me too.
"Can you come to my office? I miss you." I said to her,
"Yeah I'll be down in a minute." I closed our link and sat back in my chair, excitedly waiting.
My eyes were closed as I waited for Jadah.
Her knocking causing me to open my eyes.
"Come in" I called from my seat, running a hand through my hair. The door opened and before long Samantha strutted in. She had on a long coat and her blonde hair was pulled back in a tight pony tail. I scrunched my nose up as her perfume stung my nose.
I felt my anger rise as she showed blatant disrespect for her Alpha and Luna."You've clearly lost all sense to come in here like that." I rose to my feet gripping the table to keep my anger in check.
Her movements faltered a bit before she plastered a smile over her face and continued her act."I can help you. I have a few ways to ease your mind." She purred sounding less and less confident.
Growling, before controlling myself I sat back down,"Remove your self from my office at once, your exile papers will be signed by the morning. I suggest you go pack." I finished seriously watching as her mouth opened and closed like a fish. I sat up crossing my hands together,"Tell me what you're up to and who put you up to such foolery. You aren't dull enough to believe that this would work." Her eyes told me all I needed to know. She was put up to come seduce me. She was about to answer but the sound of light footsteps fueled her shenanigans.
She smiled at me before untying her coat and letting it drop to the floor.
The door opened slowly,"Hey, I'm glad we can finally have alone tim-" I seen her before I heard her, her large golden hair was on top of her head in a ponytail with a scarf wrapped around her edges, she wore one of my shirts, and her skin was glowing. She was beautiful. She looked so good right now but when she saw Samantha nude her eyes fled of emotion.
Her demeanor switched from warm to cold in seconds. Looking me in the eyes she waited for me to explain. I choked on air I have never seen Jadah like this before. I sat up straighter clearing my throat,
"Someone's putting her up to this. She was just about to tell me who before you came in." I told watching her face for any form of expression.
She stood like a statue, her face still unreadable.
Clearing her throat we both looked at her,"Don't believe him, he called me in here because he was feeling sexually frustrated. You know with you being busy and all." It was deadly silent. Only thing to be heard was one fast beating heart and it wasn't mine.
Tilting her head, Jadah looked at Samantha causing her to gulp back in response. Swiping her hand Samantha flew into the wall. She padded over quickly before lifting her off the ground by her ponytail, making sure to look her in the eyes." Now who put you up to this?"
The words might as well have fallen onto the ground the way she was ready to spill; but whoever put her up to this really had her scared because she pressed her lips together refusing to tell, tears welled in her eyes.
"You have one second to spill or I'm gonna give you a dose of pain so lethal you'll have a stroke." Jadah promised keeping her emotions undetectable.
"I can't."
Shrugging Samantha then began to scream, she screamed so loud I had to cover my ears. Blood began pouring from her eyes and nose as she continued shrieking. Only when she began pissing on my floor did Jadah stop, looking her in the eyes again.
"Now talk because I can promise you, I'm scarier than who you're afraid of." Samantha nodded letting tears fall from her eyes as she continued to shake.
Just as she was about to speak the door burst open and there stood Jax. The whole clan behind him. She didn't remove her gaze from Samantha.
"Dad we'll talk later." Jax stood shocked not understanding what he was seeing, with a flick of her wrist the door closed and locked.
"Now where were we?"
Samantha began to sob harder and then have a seizure. Dropping her to the ground Jadah stood up before walking away.
"Mind link her friends to come get her." She kept walking to the door but waved her hand for me to follow.
Talk about sending a message.
I got up immediately following after mind linking the two guys to come get her off my floor and clean up this mess, closing the door behind me after putting away important documents I also made sure a trusted guard made sure they got her out of my office so nothing would come up missing.
When I came to, my body ached something serious. I screamed aloud when Jeron began to pick me up from the floor. I couldn't see clearly and I felt numb.
"What the hell they'd do to you Sam?" He muttered adjusting my body as Ron finished cleaning up my mess. I felt embarrassed and more terrified than I've ever felt before.
"Hurry up!" The guard snapped before he hastily dragged me out of the Alphas office. I groaned when he was too rough.
We hastily made our way to our room, after he laid me down I felt sick to my stomach, I puked in a bin before letting the tears fall.
"Well?" Jeron snapped impatiently,"Tell us what the hell happened to you!"
I looked away shuddering recalling what happened.
"I tried seducing h-him, but Jadah came in. They knew I was lying, and figured out someone else is pulling the strings" I looked down ashamed crying harder realizing I'm getting exiled in the morning, and he's gonna punish me.
Rubbing his mouth anxiously he punched the air,"Do you know what this means? We're done for!"
"No we're not, so what we're getting exiled? We're still finishing this job. Don't tie the noose just yet." Ron said sitting back in his chair.
I looked at him like he was a fool,"Take a good look at me. What she did to me alone in just 2 minutes is way worse than anything he could do to us in a day." I turned away from them wiping my tears away,"Her powers are way stronger than we anticipated, this isn't gonna be easy."
Sticking his knife in the table he sat up and said,"It doesn't have to be easy Samantha. It just needs to get done." His eyes were crazy and unpredictable.
How could my life have gotten this bad?
Mal and I were outside meeting with the other guards, after having my suspicions confirmed I really couldn't sleep. Patrols needed to be tightened immediately. The sky was black littered with stars, and the moon high in the sky. If it weren't for the weariness I felt this would've been a magical night for me and Mal to have given each other the attention we've been denied. I still tried to enjoy this moment and I grabbed his hand.
He looked at me and smiled before squeezing my hand and kissing my forehead. That small action made me feel on top.
I felt at peace as we walked getting closer to the guards when I felt like something was watching me. It followed my every move, I looked up from the ground and saw two red eyes watching me and my mate.
I gasped, swiping my hand watching them fly into a tree. Mal growled menacingly, the perp got up chuckling. A tall lanky figure was hunched over in all black but slowly moved towards the light. When I seen his face my eyes widened.
"Ethan?" I asked shocked. I remember the guy who made a move on me and got hemmed up by my brother!
"You know him?" He asked confused, I nodded my head 'Yes' before stepping from behind him,
"Ethan was from the PurpleViper Pack. The pack that I was previously training before we left them to come train you guys. Speaking of your pack is everyone okay, how are the girls?" I asked worried, he let out a humorless chuckle.
"My pack is fine but they won't be for long, specifically two little girls." He said coyly, smiling when I growled at him,
"Where are they?" I asked getting right to the chase. Mal wrapped his arm around my waist and rubbed circles in my side.
Ethan chuckled,"Oh you should watch your mouth especially when you're talking to the Alpha of the Rayon Pack."He warned, but I gave him a confused look,
"Who the hell is the Rayon pack?" I asked, was I supposed to care about this unknown pack?
"You should always know your enemies sweetheart. The Rayon Pack is the infamous pack of rogues that have been causing mayhem all over this area." He said proudly raising his hands in the air looking around. I was completely shocked. He's the ruthless, crazed alpha of these rogues?
"Looks are deceiving aren't they? It was easier than you'd believe!" He let out a chuckle,"Enough about me how about you? I see you've found your mate." He spat glaring at Mal, who was focused but I could feel his confusion.
Ignoring his malice I leaned forward,"Why have you been spying on us?" I asked, he raised his eyebrows,
"Oh it's not just me spying on you; there's-"He glanced behind us,"Oh here they come now." He chirped clapping his hands, me and Mal stood back to back crouching ready to defend ourselves. Before I could process what happened I felt a sharp pain in my neck, I immediately lost feeling in my legs and everything turned dark.
Groaning I tried to sit up but was restrained. I squinted my eyes from the bright white ceiling above my head. I felt like shit.
Looking around some more, first noticing the leather restraints around my torso. The room is cream and ivory, where the hell am I?
After taking five calming breaths I tried to recall what had happened,
Memories of seeing Sam naked in my mates office,
We went on a walk right?
Then I remembered seeing Ethan, finding out he's the Alpha of the rogues, then being knocked out. My heart started beating fast,
Where's Mal?
I was about to panic but I stayed calm, taking time to breathe again before I tried using my strength to break the leather, but whatever that drug was, it made me feel weak.
Okay plan A was a dub.
Breathing again I looked around the room for anything that could be sharp enough to cut through the bands. I saw an ivory vintage hand mirror sitting on the desk, hope started to bubble in my chest. Using my telekinesis I brought the mirror to my hands and began using it to stab the leather. Holes began showing up and eventually they were weak enough for me to snap.
Letting the mirror fall on the bed I sat up immediately regretting it because dizziness hit me like a truck. Holding my head I looked over at the bed side table and saw a pill, note, and a glass of water.
I noticed it was ibuprofen but I still didn't trust it, not that nor the water instead I picked up the note,
Dear Jadah,
I knew you were gonna find a way out of those restraints, so to spare my life and the lives of my pack members I wrote this note-
"Smart choice"
-Drink the water and take the pill, it should relieve your headache. I over did it with the measurements haha, come outside afterwards. Me and the pack are waiting for you.
Yours truly, Ethan<3
I felt a growl bubble up within me as I balled the note up, but I had to keep my cool. I needed to find Mal.
Pushing the lava that burnt under my skin to the side, I got up and stretched. I was still a little weak so my legs shook a bit. I looked down at my clothes and noticed I was still in Mals' shirt; only thing missing was my head scarf and I think Ethan has something to do with that. To keep my top from popping I inhaled his scent calming myself before I leveled my head.
Okay so, I don't know where I am or where Mal is but maybe when I get to Ethan I can see if I can sniff him out, but now I need to contact the others. I tried using my mind link but I was hit with a head splitting headache.
Damn you Ethan!
My thoughts were interrupted when a hand grabbed my wrist from off my head. I looked at the person and it was a disheveled girl with black matted hair, green eyes, and bruised up tan skin.
"Come on the pack's waiting for you. Ethan requested your appearance immediately." She said without emotion, hastily pulling me.
The place was huge, we kept winding and turning down dimly lit hallways. There was only red candles on the walls making it look like I was walking through Hell. After looking around I sniffed the air and I was immediately hit with the smell of blood and decay. I held my mouth as I began to gag.
"Don't breathe in. You'll never find him." She said monotonously keeping her eyes forward as I looked at her.
I let her continue to drag me down the halls, taking in how my feet padded across carpet then cold tile.
After a second I broke the silence,"What's your name?"
Feeling unsure she hesitated before answering me quickly,"Olivia."
I opened my mouth to ask another question but she cut me off, pulling us to a stop,"My best friend is Marcy. She was kicked out and I heard Ethan say that she made it to your pack. You are from the SilverMist pack right?" She looked at me hopeful,
I nodded my head unable to form words.
I heard her heart beat pick up as her eyes filled with tears,"Please tell me it's true, that she's there with your pack!" She cried grabbing my hands so tightly it felt as if she was afraid she'd fall apart.
"Yes she's there." I breathed feeling my own tears well in my eyes. She blew out a shaky breath.
After taking a second I started speaking again,"If you want to see her again, help me find my mate and get out of here." I whispered lowly cautious that there might be spies hiding in the shadows.
Her eyes widened before they scanned my face.
"You can trust me. I'll get us out of here, but to do that I need your help." I said with urgency, she grabbed my hand and began pulling me faster.
"I'll help" she whispered so lowly I could barely hear it.
Actual light began to show and I could smell Ethans scent mixed in with a bunch of others. I felt sick. As we stepped further into the lit halls I noticed how frail Olivia actually was. Her bones showed through her thin battered t-shirt, her eyes were cast down and sunken in, and she sported a bruise resembling a hand on her shoulder when her shirt slipped down. I closed my eyes and breathed in deeply.
I'm gonna kick his ass.
She lead me into a dining room, there was a large table and around that table were men. Ethan sat at the head, watching me like a hawk, his mouth curved into a sick smile as he sat back, with a wave of his hand Olivia released me but not before squeezing it. I saw his eyes squint at the exchange.
He's observant.
"I see you finally graced me with your presence" Ethan smiled,"Took you long enough, come join us." He said in a chipper voice waving me over as he eagerly patted a seat next to him sporting my scarf around his neck. I bit my tongue resisting the urge to ball my fists up.
I slowly made my way to the table, ignoring the low growls, and smell of arousal coming from the men.
"This spot is for the Luna, I'm not the Luna." I stated without emotion. He laughed out loud,
"She's funny guys!" He wiped away a tear from his eyes,"You are Luna silly! My Luna," He finished darkly letting lust fill his eyes and the strong overwhelming scent of arousal suffocate the whole table.
"Now sit" he yanked me down into my chair, I closed my eyes again restraining Amaris.
"Stay calm we gotta keep our heads"
I was brought out of my thoughts when his hand yanked my chin, forcing me to look at him. He took a deep breath of my scent before flames burned behind his eyes.
He shook something fierce before ripping Mals' shirt off of my body. It fell into ribbons on the floor.
I had on no bra and the cold stale air attacked my naked body leaving goose bumps. Howls and banging sounds filled the room as his pack members hooped and hollered, on the edge of losing control. I immediately covered myself using the dingy table cloth, growling he snatched it out of my hands. His eyes began to fill with blackness. Pushing away from the table and crouching into my fighting stance, I stood as strong as I could, my legs shook, barely able to support me. I bared my canines, letting my eyes turn blue as Amaris pushed to the front but I couldn't shift.
"Amaris what's the matter?!" I shouted, roaring noticing that they were getting closer.
"I can't shift! It's the drug he gave us!"
Letting out a humorless laugh,"I guess I'm gonna have to use my powers"
I had to focus more than usual to hone my abilities but I swiped the air, falling to my knees tiredly. I felt winded.
I knew it. This drug affected my mental strength as well!
Standing up shakily I gave them all the strongest dosage of pain I could muster. I heard their screams fill the air, but I needed them to stay down so I could at least find Mal! I kept going and going until I couldn't no more. I dropped to the ground, their eyes and ears had blood coming out of them. I fell over on to my side.
Get up Jadah! We gotta get outta here!
I pushed myself but I could barely move. My heart started beating faster as I heard quick feet scurry towards me. Opening my eyes, raising my hand ready to attack I seen it was Olivia. She paused holding her hands up, I dropped my hand and fell back over. She rushed to my side sitting me up,
"You're still suffering affects of that drug. Didn't you take the ibuprofen he left?" She panicked trying to hold up my body,
I weakly shook my head 'No' she widened her eyes,"The ibuprofen eats away at the herb in the drug, he was actually trying to help!"
Wow Jadah.
"It's okay, it's okay, here I got you" she dragged me over to the table and sat me down. She pulled out an ibuprofen from one of the men's pockets before putting it in my mouth and putting a gold goblet filled with Wine to my lips.
"Drink, hurry!" I hastily drank the wine, after a few minutes I started to feel my strength return, I still used up energy from using my powers so I slammed my hand on the wooden table and used its energy.
I began to vibrate as I continued to extract from the wooden table. Olivia hastily looked around as the groggy men got to their feet, they were shaking but the only one who didn't seem phased was Ethan. He began to stride towards us quickly breathing deeply.
"Hurry up Jadah he's coming, please!" She shrieked shaking me as he gained on us.
I stopped vibrating and smiled letting Amaris to the front.
"You...Bitch!" Chuckling Amaris jawed him quickly.
A sickening crunch filled the air as he flew back and hit the floor. Amaris blew on her fist like it was a gun, light on her feet she glided towards him. Panic covered his face as he wiped the blood from his eyes crawling backwards. Within a second she reached him, grabbing his shirt picking him up and slamming him into the stone floors; another crack filled the room. He howled loudly, sputtering from the blood that filled his mouth.
Getting close to his face her eyes danced with a sick amusement,"Where's my mate?" She finished with a smile.
He could barely form words, she threw him back against the floor, he whimpered. Looking towards Olivia she jumped, startled. Amaris moved quickly towards her,"Where's my mate?" Cocking her hips to the side.
Olivia tip toed over to Ethan carefully removing the keys from his pocket before leading us to Mal.
We made our way to the basement, I held our nose stopping myself from gagging again as we declined the moist cobble stairs. It was dark, damp, and filthy.
"Mal!" I called causing Olivia to jump startled.
Something didn't feel right though. I raced to his cell and he wasn't in there.
"I knew it!" I gripped the bars before turning to Olivia. She looked terrified but I ignored her heading back upstairs because I still feel him, he's in here somewhere.
Reaching the top I began to move through the halls using my nose, ignoring the smells of blood and decay. I was getting closer to him but his scent started mixing with blood and that of a woman's. I growled before taking off into a full sprint. I climbed stairs and pushed through two heavy doors.
I heard the clicking from a gun before I saw them. There was Samantha, battered and bruised with angry eyes. I could careless about that, it was who she had at the end of the barrel that concerned me.
