Sophia took the clothes from Megan and glanced at them. Confusion flashed across her eyes. However, she said nothing. She put the uniform next to her pillow, went out to make a phone call, washed up, and went to bed.
Early in the morning the next day, Sophia was still asleep and was awakened by a bang on the door.
"Are you still asleep? What are you, a pig? Open up the door!"
"Do you guys hear me? F*cking b*tches!â
Sophia frowned and said to Megan who was also awakened and had a gloomy look on her face, "Donât worry about it, I'll get the door."
"Sheâs seriously annoying!" Megan muttered, turned over, and covered her face.
Sophia went to open the door and saw Tiffany wearing a suspender dress. She had a burgundy coat loosely cloaking her as well as a purply green hickey on her neck.
"What the f*ck are you looking at? Iâll gouge your eyes out...â Tiffany yelled but swallowed the rest of her sentence as Sophia looked at her.
Sophia said lightly, "Don't say I didnât remind you. If you swear one more time in front of me, Iâll make sure you never say anything ever again.â
"How dare you!" Tiffany straightened her neck, and her nostrils looked a little bigger because her face was tilted upward.
The corners of Sophiaâs lips twitched upward, but her eyes did not look like she was smiling. "You wanna test me?"
After she said that, she went back to her bed.
Tiffany looked disgusted. In her next second, her disgust turned to anger. In the end, she vented her anger at the shut door and whispered about how mental Sophia was.
Sophia did not hear anything. She picked up her uniform and was prepared to change into it, but after thinking about it, she put down the uniform again.
She thought that she probably would not have use for that uniform that day. As she recounted the time, she was expecting a call from someone or someone to come looking for her.
As soon as the thought flashed across her mind, the door was pushed open.
"Itâs bright and early in the morning. Whoâs getting angry? I could hear the door slamming from rooms away.â Marie smiled as she walked in. Even in the simplest suit and skirt, her curvaceous body showed through. She looked absolutely charming and affectionate.
"Itâs not like I wanted to rage." Tiffany pursed her mouth. She was talking to Marie, but her eyes were on Sophia. "It's just that some people cross the line, leaving me outside the door for half an hour in the morning. Anyone would be angry!â
Sophia allowed her to fabricate her story and did not deny it.
"Tiff, don't treat anyone as a fool." Marie took Tiffany's hand and glanced at her with the corner of her eye. She said, "Otherwise, youâll be the one who suffers in the end."
Tiffany pouted and said nothing. She narrowed her eyes at Sophia and returned to her bed bitterly.
"You don't have to go to work today. Mr. Harris will arrive in about half an hour. Quickly clean up, and Mr. Harris will tell you about your new arrangements." Marie tapped Sophia's shoulder a few times with her index finger as she smiled flirtatiously before she left the room.
Megan poked her head out of the bed. Curiously, she asked, "Sophia, does Mr. Harris know you?"
Sophia hummed. She said lightly to her shining eyes, "I broke the legs of his beloved woman. How can he not know me?"
"Well, then you... You better be careful today, and don't offend anyone." The light in Megan's eyes dissipated instantly, and she smiled wryly before covering her head with the blanket again.
Sophia did not have any other clothes. She changed into the outfit she wore the day before and went out with simple and light makeup on.
After an hour, the car arrived. When she was about to open the door to sit in the driver's seat, Charles gave her a look. "Sit at the back."
"Okay." Sophia pursed her lips, squeezed around to the back, and sat next to him.
Sitting that close to him made her very uncomfortable. The faint smell of tobacco on his body surrounded her like an invisible net, and it made it harder for her to breathe.
She propped her right hand on the seat, shifting carefully to the right as she tried to widen the distance between them.
Suddenly, a forearm hooked forcefully around her waist. Her body stiffened, and before she could react, she fell into the arms of the man beside her.
"If youâre afraid of me, why bother coming to my mom's birthday banquet?" Charles grabbed her chin and angled her face toward him as his black pupils reflected her panicked expression.
Sophiaâs heart did a flip, and she did not dare to look him in the eye. "I havenât seen her in two years. I just want to meet her."
Her mom would also be attending Aunt Harrisâs birthday banquet. She wanted to see her mom, so she had forced herself to call Aunt Harris the night before.
His strong heartbeat rang right in her ears, and she felt uncomfortable all over. Her left hand was propped on the seat, and she wanted to sit up straight.
However, Charles suddenly reached out and pressed his hand on her shoulder. At that moment, her left arm buckled, and her body laid directly onto his lap.
"Sophia," Charles leaned over slightly, and his fingers landed on her slightly crippled right leg. He rubbed it lightly. "Was two years worth of punishment too light for you?â Was that why she dared to lie to his face?
The place he touched felt like it was being sliced by the sharpest knife. Sophia had goosebumps all over her body, and her butterfly-like eyelashes would not stop shaking.
In a trance, her right leg felt a pang of pain so sharp that she could even feel it in her bones.
"I'll give you one more chance." Charlesâs finger stopped at her knee, tapping it carelessly.
Even though the taps were light, every tap made Sophia's heart tremble. She unconsciously grasped at the seat with her fingers. With embarrassment, she said, "I want to see my mother."
She just wanted to see her mother, but it had to be through someone elseâs birthday banquet. She never thought that such a ridiculous thing would befall on her.
"Heh!" Charles chuckled with a faint sarcasm in his words, "Should I say that the White family is a ruthless family or an empathetic family?â
Sophia was incredibly embarrassed. She wanted to sit up but could not support herself. Instead, she could only hold onto his leg unsettlingly. Little did she expect, she accidentally pressed onto his crotch!
"I'm sorry..." The color from her face instantly disappeared, and her body could not stop shaking.
The driver saw the entire scene from the rearview mirror, and he closed his legs together subconsciously. He even felt a shiver running down his spine.
Charles' usually calm face looked a little uneasy, and a layer of cold sweat formed on his forehead. He said coldly, "Arenât you going to let go?"

ï¤Chapter 46 Youâre Lying Sophia let go hurriedly and propped her hand on her leg. She sat as close as she could to the car window.
She had seen a lot of cruel people in prison, but Charles breaking her leg with a golf club made her fear him the most.
"Stop the car." There was an unnatural flush on Charles' face, and his eyes darkened.
After the car halted to a stop, he turned his head toward Sophia. With a voice that was so cold one could feel it in their bones, he said, "Get down!"
"Can I still go to the birthday banquet?" Sophia knew it was better for her to get out right at this moment, but she really did not want to miss the chance to meet her mother.
The sweat on Charles' forehead dripped down to his cheeks. "If you don't go now, youâll never get the chance again!â
After she got down, his hands covered the injured area. His legs were closed tightly as well. Blurting out every word out with extreme difficulty, he said, "Get to the hospital!"
