Once Victor finished checking her leg, he stood up. âI contacted a few experts for Uncle White and they said they would try to come over as soon as possible to have a look.â
âThank you!â Sophia truly felt that she owed Victor and his family a lot for everything they had done for her. âWhen... thereâs a chance, Iâll pay a visit to give my thanks.â
It was almost impossible for a patient to recover from a vegetative state, but a glimmer of hope was always better than nothing.
Victor noticed the hesitance when she talked, and he thought of everything that had happened to the White family recently. He could not help but be suspicious.
âDid something bothersome happen to you recently?â he asked hesitantly.
âThings have indeed been quite bothersome lately,â Sophia replied, âIâm almost three months pregnant now, I have to be cautious even when I walk.â
Having once studied psychology, Victor immediately noticed signs that she was lying. âYou can tell me anything that you have problems with, perhaps I might be able to help.â
âWhat difficulties can I possibly have? At most, Iâm just worried whether I can marry into the Harris family and officially become Mrs. Harris,â Sophia said with a smile.
She did not want to drag anyone into this mess.
Seeing that she was unwilling to talk, Victor did not press on. He merely made a mental note to himself and continued the session.
Sophia did not intend to stay at the hospital any second longer. As soon as she was done with her treatment, she changed back into her clothes and had the bodyguards send her back to Bamboo Virtues Village.
She initially wanted to go back to the White family manor, but with the bodyguards monitoring her at all times, her brother and her sister-in-law would be watched as well if she went back.
On the drive back, she received a call from an unknown number.
âHello?â
âSophia White, have you drugged my mother? Why is she pestering my father to help Charles! You...â
Sophia thought for a long time who the person was but could not place a name to the voice, and so she interrupted him. âIâm sorry, may I know who is this?â
â...â There was a pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a loud roar. âIâm Shawn, do you remember me now? Sophia, you better give me a good explanation as to what have you done to my mother and why is she threatening to file for divorce if my father doesnât help Charles?â
How could the Johnson family help the Harris family when it came to official affairs?
In a worst-case scenario, they might even topple over along with the Harris family too!
His mother had always been an intelligent woman, but somehow, she had lost her mind ever since the day Sophia appeared!
Sophia understood what he meant, but she was equally confused as well. âI havenât seen Aunty recently, what could I have done to her?â
Ever since her mother passed away, she never wanted to see Madam Johnson again.
The sight of Madam Johnson just reminded her that Madam Johnson was the main reason that caused her motherâs suicide.
âIf you didnât do anything to her, why is she fighting with my father and urging him to try everything to help the Harris family? Iâm warning you, you best be honest with me right now or Iâll make sure you pay for this!â Shawn was so aggravated his voice broke a little toward the end.
Sophia was not in the mood to entertain him. Without saying another word, she hung up straight away.
On the other end of the phone, Shawn stared at his phone where his call was just cut off and let slip a string of curse words. When he dialed the number again, he realized that his number was now blocked.
He threw his phone to the ground in frustration and swung his arms over everything on the table, pushing them down to the ground.
This godd*mn b*tch, did she think she was invincible just because she had Charles Harris at her back?
Shawn stared at his phone for a little while longer as a sinister look flashed across his eyes. He picked up his phone and called Sawyer as he grabbed his coat and headed out the door.
When he passed through the living room, Madam Johnson was still arguing with Mr. Johnson.
âExactly! Nobody else is helping Mr. Harris, and thatâs why you should help him! Heâs Sophâs boyfriend, so helping him means doing Soph a huge favor! Then, at least when I die, I can ask Jenny when have I ever done any wrong to her when I have always been looking out for her and her daughter!â
âYouâre crazy! Why are you putting your entire familyâs life at stake just to fuss with a dead woman? Do you think itâs worth it?â
âYes! I want to see how Jenny dares to look me in the eye if we risk everything just for her daughter! I treat her so much better than Hellen does, how dare she point her finger at me because of Hellen?â
Shawn muttered angrily under his breath and threw a vase on the floor before he strode out of the house, ignoring his parentsâ shouting behind him.

The house was empty, with only Sophia and her bodyguards who were still watching her.
She cooked herself some porridge and she was planning on cooking some side dishes, but the bodyguards could not bear to watch when she burnt the pot, and so they volunteered to cook her a meal.
Sophia watched as they prepared the food and made sure that they did not add anything to the food. When she made sure that the food was safe, she picked up her cutlery.
âYou should eat too, you canât order takeaways here.â She tasted one of the dishes and found the food quite delicious.
The bodyguards exchanged glances, and after getting a nod of approval from their leader, they sat down and joined Sophia.
When they were almost done eating, they suddenly heard loud honking noises from outside. Judging from the commotion, there were quite a lot of cars outside.
The car engine noises suggested that they were quite close. The leader gave two of his men a look, and the three of them pulled out a weapon of some sort as they went out to check the surroundings.
Two bodyguards remained at the dining table with Sophia. No longer in the mood to eat, they stood beside Sophia one on each side while they stared at the door vigilantly.
Out of all of them, Sophia was the calmest one. After all, she was already in a bad enough situation in the first place so how bad could it possibly get?
If things get messy, perhaps she might even gain the advantage too.
âMr. Harris is back,â the leader of the bodyguards said as he returned to the room.
Charles? Sophiaâs eyes lit up as she dropped her cutleries and walked out of the room.
Three military jeeps stopped at the door and Charles was escorted by several soldiers.

ï¤Chapter 395 Are You Implying That Iâm A Thief?
He was still wearing the suit he wore when he was taken away, though, it was noticeably wrinkled now. There were bruises on his face and he looked disheveled. Clearly, prison had not been kind to him.
Sophia looked at the scar on his face, and she felt her heart ache.
She stood frozen for a long time before she finally made her way to him slowly and gave him a hug. âCharles, I missed you.â
âI havenât showered and Iâm quite dirty all over, you should let go.â The lines on Charlesâ face turned softer as she entered his sight.
To him, the hardest part about prison was not the physical suffering he endured every day, but the mental torment of not being able to see her every day.
He was worried that his absence would upset her, and he would constantly worry about things such as not hiring a maid for her, how she was unable to order takeaway, and what would she eat every day.
Sophia shook her head and kept her arms around his waist. She could hear his steady heartbeat by her ear, and her frantic little heart finally settled down slightly.
âCharles, Harris Corporation is still a prime suspect. Although you have been temporarily released from jail, we will still be monitoring you at all times.
We will naturally leave once Harris Corporation is no longer under investigation,â one of the military personnel said.
With his arms still around Sophia, Charles turned back and looked at him coldly. âThis is my first time hearing that a suspectâs privacy is not protected.â
âWe wonât violate your privacy exactly, weâll just be guarding the surroundings of this manor in case you try to escape. Just let us know when you wish for some quiet time, and we will withdraw appropriately to give you some form of privacy.â The person who answered Charlesâ question was still the one who spoke earlier.
