Sophia had decided to come back to the White family because she wanted a voice in the White Industries so that if anything happened in the future, she would have the ability to put up a fight.
However, although she did have more of a say in the company now, she was still powerless to fight back. Moreover, she had someone watching over her shoulder all the time too.
âMaster Russell sent someone over to lend me a hand, I should be able to cope with everything going on. You donât have to worry about a single thing, just take care of yourself and your baby.
âAlright.â Sophia walked to his side and lowered her voice as she spoke, âThere are no permanent friends in the business industry, donât trust or depend on one person too much.â
Sterling remained silent for a while before nodding his head. âYou donât have to worry about the company affairs, Iâll take care of everything.â
He turned around and gave Maisie and the others some orders, and they quickly left the room.
Sophia stood in the middle of the office room that had become empty all of a sudden, and her heart felt incredibly empty.
âMs. White, can you please come along with me to Harris Corporation,â the bodyguard beside her said as he glanced at the message on his phone.
âFirst you called me over to talk, then you want to monitor my phone, and now youâre asking me to go to Harris Corporation with you... I have done everything you asked me to, but what about what you promised me?
Being monitored and ordered around had put Sophia in an extremely bad mood.
The bodyguard stared back at her blankly. âWeâre just following instructions, thereâs no point for you to ask us these questions. However, I can assure you that if you donât do as I say, it might be quite impossible for Mr. Harris to be released, and White Industries might encounter some trouble as well.â
Sophia glared at him. She was gritting her teeth so hard they were almost splintering.
However, it did not matter how furious she was. She retracted her gaze and walked to the elevator with a deep frown.
The bodyguards followed suit, and once they left the building and got back into the car, the one who seemed to be the leader of the bodyguards handed Sophia two items.
âA wireless earpiece and a pinhole camera? Whatâs the meaning of this?â Ever since coming out of prison, Sophia felt that her tolerance had grown, but right then, she could barely suppress the rage in her chest.
The bodyguard did not even look at her as he replied, âMs. White, please put them on before we set off to Harris Corporation.â
Sophia pursed her lips and stared at the two items in her hand. âI only promised to leave Charles, I didnât agree to all these little acts of yours!â
If she continued playing along without saying anything, Sylvia and that mysterious big shot would only ask for more and more!
The bodyguard repeated the same thing, âYou should just do as youâre told if you want Mr. Harris to be released as soon as possible.â
Sophia snorted and opened the car door.
âMs. White, I would advise you not to do anything stupid!â The bodyguard followed her down the car and stood in front of her to block her path.
âStupid?â Sophia raised her brow. âI would truly be stupid if I just do everything you ask me to!â
âMs. White, what do you mean by that?â
âI donât mean anything. You have two choices now ââ First of all, we follow what we have discussed earlier; secondly, I stop cooperating with you, and if Charles doesnât get released from prison, you wonât be able to achieve your goal either!â
The two of them stared at each other, and Sophia showed no sign of backing down from this impasse.
She was indeed worried about Charles and the White Family, but if she backed down now, she knew that they would only keep pushing her and she would only be forced to do even more things in the future!
Finally, the bodyguard gave in. âYou donât have to wear the pinhole camera then, but you must wear the wireless earpiece.â
Sophia did not respond. Instead, she looked at the black earpiece he was wearing, then lowered her gaze at the inconspicuous pinhole camera clipped at the top of his shirt pocket. âMs. Yates, or perhaps Iâd say your boss has been monitoring me remotely, was either one of them the one who gave you this order just now?â
The bodyguard consciously fidgeted with his shirt collar and averted her gaze, but he did not answer her question.
âI donât know who you are but since your subordinate isnât able to make a decision here, Iâll talk to you directly. I donât mind wearing the earpiece, I just need to know when will Charles be released,â Sophia said solemnly as she stared into the pinhole camera on the bodyguardâs shirt.
âGot it,â the bodyguard responded to his earpiece before turning to Sophia. âMs. Yates says itâs up to you to decide when Mr. Harris will be released.â
Sophia immediately frowned and her right hand that rested beside her left pocket fidgeted.
âAs long as you pass the USB flash drive containing the project details to your brother and he officially launches the projects, Mr. Harris will be released,â the bodyguard continued.
Sophia took the earpiece in her hand and finally put it on. âI hope you wonât go back on your words!â
âOf course, I canât bear the thought of Charles suffering in prison either.â Sylviaâs voice spoke from the earpiece.
-
As per Sylviaâs orders, Sophia found an excuse to be let into the presidentâs office.
âSearch around Charlesâ desk and see if you can find a silver flash drive thatâs engraved with an âHâ.â There was a hint of excitement that seemed suppressed in Sylviaâs voice.
Before Sophia could respond, the leader of the bodyguards spoke up, âMs. Yates, did you forget something?â
âYouâre in the office anyway, it doesnât take much effort to search for something. Why do you have to be so inflexible?â There was an indistinct hint of cautiousness in Sylviaâs voice.
âYou can choose to ignore my advice, but I will have to report everything truthfully,â the bodyguard replied.
âItâs just a harmless joke, you donât have to take it so seriously!â Sylvia giggled. âSophia, you donât have to help me look for it anymore, but can you pretend as if youâre searching for something?â
Sophia knew that Sylvia was just setting her up and this was just part of the scheme where she was going to be framed for stealing Harris Corporationâs projects, but she had no alternative but to do what she was told.
Once Sophia was going through the third drawer, the office door suddenly opened.
Mr. Logan entered the room with someone who looked like a secretary, and the secretary was still apologizing as the door opened. âIâm so sorry Mr.
Logan, I really canât remember where I kept the document file and it just seems likely that itâs in Mr. Harrisâ office...â
The secretary stopped talking when she looked up and saw Sophia and the rest of them.
Caught off-guard, Sophia was unable to hide from Mr. Loganâs searching look. She panicked for a moment but quickly regained her composure.
What a coincidence that Mr. Logan brought someone by! Clearly, the secretary beside him had been bought off by bribery.
She turned around and looked at the bodyguards. Sure enough, they did not look surprised at all.
Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
ï¤Chapter 393 Heâll Most Probably Remain In A Vegetative State For The Rest Of His Life It seemed that Sylvia and that mysterious big shot had put in a lot of effort and consideration into setting her up. They had even gone to great lengths to ensure that they had both human and material evidence.
âMs. White, what are you doing here?â Although there was a searching look in Mr. Loganâs eyes, he remained smiling at Sophia.
Sophia closed the drawer calmly. âI think I accidentally dropped something here when I came by earlier so I came back to look for it.â
Mr. Logan nodded and said nothing more, but the secretary beside him said, âMs. White, why do you have to search the drawers when you said you lost something?â
âWho are you? Do I have to report to you that I lost something?â Sophia refuted with a forced smile. âMr. Logan, I donât like her very much, you can fire her.â
The bodyguards beside her immediately gave her a warning look but she merely shrugged it off and ignored them.
A person who was willing to betray Harris Corporation should be fired immediately! Who knew how much trouble she would cause in the future!
