Everyone was stunned.
Madam Jones instantly got up from her seat. âDad? Dad, whatâs wrong?â
âWhat... Whatâs happening? Tiffany was in shock as well, and when she finally came around, she threw herself on Master Lewis and began crying.
âHoney, whatâs going on? Wake up!â
She had worked so hard to climb to where she was right now. If this old man died right now, she would have to go back to her miserable life before this!
No, he could not die! She could not let this old man die!
âYou idiots, what are you doing just staring? Hurry up and call us an ambulance!â Tiffany shrieked at everyone around them. âYou were the ones who invited us for dinner tonight! Iâll never forgive any of you if anything happens to my husband!â
Madam Jones could not be bothered by Tiffanyâs rudeness either. She turned to Leah and urged, âLeah, call 999! Something must have happened to your grandfather! Oh no, what are we going to do?â
Even Master Jones who had always had a calm composure was quite frantic.
âDonât worry, itâll all be alright. Iâm sure he just passed out, stop being so worried,â Leah said softly as she looked around.
Mr. Jones and Master Jones both exchanged a knowing look as if they suddenly realized something. âLeah, are you sure heâll be fine?â
âYeah, itâs just sleeping pills,â Leah simply replied.
Madam Jones was taken aback by her response. âWhy did you drug your grandfather?â
âNo reason. Grandpa Lewis hasnât been able to sleep recently and he refuses to take sleeping pills, Iâm just helping him out,â Leah replied gently.
Tiffany immediately stopped crying and darted toward Leah. âYou stupid b*tch, what are you trying to do? Are you planning to kill my husband so you can finally fight me?!â
She reached out her hand to slap Leah.
Leah easily stepped aside and clapped her hands twice. Four strong, burly men instantly strode into the room and grabbed Tiffany.
âLet me go! D*mn it! Let me go, you idiots!â Tiffany shrieked as she struggled desperately. âF*ck you, you b*tch! Once my husband wakes up, heâll never forgive you for this!â
Leah removed one of the chair covers and scrunched it up before stuffing it into Tiffanyâs mouth.
âAll of you saw it as well just now, Grandpa Lewis was completely dazed by this woman. Sheâs bound to drag both Lewis and Jones families down sooner or later. If we keep her by our side, sheâll surely cause us disaster.â
Leah had always put on a false pretense in front of her family because she was worried that they would not like the real her, but after this incident, she finally realized that her family would always prioritize benefits and profits over anything else.
Mr. Jones and Master Jones looked at each other once again and discussed with each other under their breaths.
âA waiter spiked the wine and all of us passed out. By the time we came around, Miss Lawrence was already gone. Perhaps she was abducted by an enemy of some sorts,â Master Jones gave a dry cough as he said slowly.
Leah smiled in response. âGo ahead with the celebration, Iâll go find the kidnappers.â
With that, she turned around and left the room while the men followed behind her with Tiffany in their arms.
âLeah, what kidnappers are you talking about? I didnât see anything! Leah, you...â Madam Jones had completely no idea what they were talking about and she got up from her seat, intending to follow after Leah.
Mr. Jones stopped her. âIf you donât want to see that stepmother of yours anymore in the future, donât ask any more questions.â
Madam Jones glanced at the old man who was passed out on the table and sat back down. With her chopsticks back in hand, she continued eating.
That dirty little sl*t had embarrassed her on so many occasions, it would be a dream come true if she did not have to see that b*tch anymore!

After lunch, Charles decided to send Sophia back to Bamboo Virtues Village before heading back to the office.
However, the moment they left the restaurant, he immediately noticed that someone was tailing them. He turned around and his brows furrowed. âI see someone I know, can you head back to the car first? Iâll be with you in a moment.â
This restaurant was so exclusive to the point that it was a members-only spot, hence all their customers were pretty much those in the same circle as him. It was no surprise that he would bump into someone familiar.
Sophia nodded and took the car keys from him before leaving.
Charles looked back and saw that the person had stopped at the corner and was waiting for him to go over now. He loosened his tie, and with an indifferent look on his face, he made his way over.
The man who was following them seemed to be in his forties. He looked quite handsome but at the same time, there was a hint of feminine temperament.
Charles had only seen him a few times but he was quite certain who this man was ââ her paternal grandmotherâs little pet.
âWhy are you following me?â There was no emotion in Charles' eyes.
Jax Cabot grinned at him and reached out to pat Charles' shoulder. When Charles dodged his touch, he did not feel embarrassed either. âYou should ask your grandmother that question. She only asked me to get you but she didnât explain why.â
Charles rarely expressed his emotions on his face, but in front of Jax right now, he did not bother to hide the disgusted look on his face.
âI have nothing to say to her so stop following me,â Charles said coldly before turning away.
However, Jax was in no hurry. âCharles, think about it. You know that your grandmother isnât one to give up easily. If you donât talk to her now, she might just approach Ms. White the next time.â
Charles immediately stopped in his tracks. He tugged on his tie again and turned around, his frosty eyes fixed on Jax.
âSheâs in that car right ahead, come on.â Jax flashed him a smile and bowed slightly as if making a welcoming gesture.
Charles followed him and walked to a Rolls-Royce.
A lady was sitting in the passenger seat behind. Although she seemed to be in her fifties, her makeup was well done and she was dressed in young and trendy clothes. Nevertheless, the wrinkles on her neck betrayed her and told the world she was not as young as she looked.
âI havenât seen you in over ten years. Charles, you look so much like your grandfather now.â Sylvia put down her phone, and with a smile on her face, she reached out for his hand.
Charles easily moved his hand out of reach and asked straightaway, âWhatâs the matter?â
He rarely truly hated someone, but his paternal grandmother was one of them.
Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
ï¤Chapter 374 Charles Couldnât Possibly Be This Cliché, Right?
âIâm your grandmother regardless of what you think, is this how you speak to your elders?â Sylvia snorted. âThat mother of yours looks down on me because she thinks that I didnât teach my son well, but did she do her job herself?â
Charlesâ expression darkened as he replied, âYou slept with my grandfather for money and sold my father to the Harris family. Did it occur to you that you might not be considered an elder of mine when you left?â
Jax sighed gently. âCharles, you canât say that.
âYour grandmother truly liked your grandfather back then. In fact, thatâs why she was willing to be drugged and abandoned just to be with your grandfather. Just like how Ms. White likes you and married you despite all the differences, itâs because of love.
âAs for why she divorced your grandfather, itâs because...â
Charles could not accept that Jax had just compared Sophia to his grandmother and interrupted him mid-sentence. âShut up! Who are you to have a say in this?â
Jax instantly froze as embarrassment and anger crept upon his face.
âCharles, heâs your elder as well.â One should at least find out who the master was before beating the dog. By doing so, Charles clearly did not respect her at all!
Charlesâ lips twitched slightly as he sneered. âWhat a time to be alive, I canât believe some random people can call themselves my elders just because theyâre older than me.â
This was obviously an indirect shot at Jax.
Jaxâs face was sullen as he said, âItâs only natural for a young man to act so frivolously, but as your elder, let me advise you this. Donât think too highly of yourself, otherwise, youâre not too far away from death.â
