Sophia frowned and walked past him while Nicole followed alongside her quietly.

“Sophia,” William called out in an exhausted tone as he grabbed her wrist from behind.

Sophia shook his hand away and sneered without even looking back. “What? Are you here to seek justice for your sister because she killed herself because of me?”

Although Nicole had a disapproving look on her face, she said nothing.

“... Please don’t get me wrong,” William said as he walked up to her. “I saw you and I just wanted to say hi, you don’t need to get worked up.”

“Alright, you’ve already said hi. Can you go now?” Sophia asked lightly.

William stared into the coldness in her eyes as bitterness washed over him.

William desperately wanted to dig a hole and hide. He was feeling extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed under her scrutinizing glare.

Sure enough, this sounded like something Leah was capable of.

William’s face reddened even more. “I’ll go with you. If Leah accuses you of anything, I can testify on your behalf!”

“If this was a while ago, I might just believe your words, Mr. Jones, but I’m sorry. Your words have no credibility to me anymore,” Sophia replied.

William was just about to say something else when Sophia spoke first, “If Leah says that the questions she wants to ask me are not appropriate for a third person to overhear, you’ll choose to leave the room after slight contemplation, isn’t that right, Mr. Jones?”

William was speechless when he heard her question. He wanted to defend himself but felt too embarrassed to do so. He no longer had the dignity to ask Sophia for a favor anymore.

Sophia walked past him and headed to the elevator.

Since she was already at the hospital, she might as well drop by to see Dr. Hemingway. After all, she had missed a couple days of her treatment.

However, as soon as she took two steps forward, a hospital room’s door opened from inside. Leah appeared from the room wearing a hospital gown.

The hospital gown hung loosely on her frame, and in addition to her pale but pretty face, she looked exceptionally pitiful.

“Come on, let’s go,” Sophia said to Nicole. She was in no mood to play along with Leah.

Nicole nodded in agreement, but just as they were about to turn and leave, Leah suddenly dropped to her knees on the floor.

“Sophia, I know I don’t have much time, but I just hope that you can forgive me before I die,” Leah said sincerely.

Not only did her action shock Nicole, but William as well.

The only one who remained unchanged was Sophia.

She figured that someone must be hiding in a corner somewhere taking a photo of this, but she could not be bothered to expose Leah’s plan either.

The more Leah tried to defame her, it would only be worse for Leah when the truth was revealed later on!

“Leah, what are you doing?” William asked in distraught, “Aren’t you just forcing Sophia now?”

Leah smiled wryly. “Will, why do you think of me this way as well? I don’t mean to force Sophia, I just want to apologize to her.”

“Someone’s taking photos!” Nicole shouted and ran toward the direction of the sound.

William instantly felt guilty after seeing Sophia so distressed. “If the reporters accuse you of things like that, I’ll step out and speak up for you.
