Although Charles knew that Sophia was merely cooking up excuses, his eyes still darkened.
He did have that mentality at first, but he soon realized that Grandfather would never come to love him as much as Justin.
Master Harris kept quiet for a while before turning around. With his back to Sophia, he asked, âI asked you if youâre really pregnant. Why are you talking about all these meaningless things?â
âItâs true, I... I will never lie to you anymore,â Sophia replied, âIf you donât believe me, you can ask someone to buy a pregnancy test now and Iâll have Aunt Jacinda... Watch me take the test...â
Aunt Jacinda had served Master Harris for over ten years now, so even if he did not believe his own children, there was no way he did not trust Aunt Jacinda.
Upon hearing Sophiaâs suggestion, Aunt Jacinda chimed in, âThe girl doesnât look like sheâs lying. Master Harris, it doesnât take long to take a pregnancy test anyway. Why donât we just do it now so you wonât have any regrets?â
âRegrets? Why would I have regrets?!â This was Master Harrisâ way of saying that he agreed with the suggestion.
Aunt Jacinda then suggested treating Sophiaâs wound, which Master Harris permitted. Before the maids could even move, Charles rushed to his room and brought out the first aid kit. He swiftly began to clean Sophiaâs wound.
Sophiaâs muscles contracted when the antiseptic came into contact with the wound. She broke into a cold sweat.
âDoes it hurt?â Charles looked up at her and asked.
Sophia shook her head. âItâs fine.â
âYou have your very own first aid kit and youâre able to bandage a wound so skillfully. Are you sure you didnât plan on becoming a doctor?â Master Harris asked in a weird tone.
Charles did not even look his way as he replied, âWell, I tend to get beaten up every now and then. Since I didnât have anyone to help me treat my wounds, I had to learn myself.â
Although his voice was loud and clear as if he was talking about something casual and unimportant, the words were much more substantial. Sophia opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Master Harris was a bit taken aback. His face changed as he snorted. âWell, blame that on your own grandmother!â
The Harris familyâs maids moved quickly, and soon enough, they had brought back a pregnancy stick as well as other accurate test measures.
Aunt Jacinda went to the bathroom together with Sophia, and after trying out several tests, she confirmed that Sophia was pregnant.
Before Master Harris could lose his temper, Sophia threw herself on the floor and began sobbing in fright, âThe last time I... I only lied to you to save myself, but this time... Iâm really not lying this time. Grandfather, please forgive... Forgive me! I promise to take good care of this baby...â
Master Harris sat down on the sofa and looked down at her. There was no hint of emotion in his face, and he did not say whether he forgave her nor, did he ask her to get up.
âThe floor is chilly, get up.â Charles reached over to pull her up.
However, Sophia shook her head and pushed him away. âIf Grandfather doesnât forgive me, I... I donât dare to get up.â
Charles had cleaned the bloodstains on her face earlier when he was treating her wound, but now as she began crying again, tears and snot were all over her face. She looked just as dirty and wretched as before.
âGrandfather, please just let her get up. After all, sheâs really pregnant. It wonât be good for the baby if she kneels on the floor like this.â Aunt Jacinda suggested kindly.
Master Harris kept quiet, the deep wrinkles on his face showing anger and suspicion as he asked Sophia, âWith that brain of yours, I bet you wouldnât be able to come up with a scheme to deceive me, let alone such a meticulous one...â
He gave Charles a side glance before continuing in a harsher tone, âDid Charles put you up to it?â
He had not been in contact with Sophia much, but everyone knew that the White siblings were only capable of idling away their time pleasure-seeking and stirring up trouble. To put it bluntly, they did not know sh*t!
Even two years in prison had not changed Sophiaâs character. Seeing how detailed and elaborated the scheme was to deceive him, there must be someone behind her back directing her what to do!
âNo!â Sophia quickly shook her head. âIf you were to find out that we have been lying to you together, I might even lose my life! Charles would never take such a risk!â
Master Harris snorted but said nothing. However, the look on his face suggested that he agreed with her.
He knew this grandson of his well. Just like himself, Charles would never take such huge risks. He always had a plan and preferred to arrange everything in advance.
âLeahâs the one who taught me everything!â Sophia wiped away her tears and instantly, the fear on her face moments ago was replaced with anger. âI donât know how she found out that you wanted to send me away.â
âShe came to me and told me that she knew you well enough... That you wouldnât send me away. You would just send me to a horrible place and leave me to rot there.â
Master Harris frowned and asked solemnly, âAnd you believed her just like that?â
âIf I had believed her, I wouldnât have gone off with Ken and the others!â As if reliving the whole experience, Sophiaâs face showed pure rage. âI told her I didnât believe her and I wanted to leave.
âBut Leah stopped me and said it doesnât matter whether I believe her, as long as after you send me to a rotten place, everything will be fine if I just lie that Iâm pregnant.
âJust think about it, sheâs obviously up to no good! She told me all of those in the past not because it would do me good, but because she wants me to lie to you and aggravate you. She wants me to use you to break me and Charles apart!â
She kept sneaking glances at Master Harris to check his reaction when she spoke, every cell in her body tense and anxious.
Master Harris had both his hands on his cane as he remained silent, his stern glare locked on her.
Sophiaâs throat felt extremely dry after this whole ordeal. Although the weather was chilly, she could not stop sweating.
âCan you please just get up first?â Not giving her the chance to refuse this time, Charles straightaway pulled her up from the floor and brought her to the sofa.
All the while, Sophia stared anxiously at Master Harris.
âCan you just sit down? Why do you keep staring at me!â Master Harrisâ head suddenly jolted up as he fixed his eyes on Sophia.
Just like a scorpion under ultraviolet light, Sophia tensed up.
âSo Leah taught you all these? Did she teach you to ask Sawyer to lie on your behalf as well as stab Kenâs temple with earrings?!â Master Harris raised his voice at the last question.
Sophiaâs heart was racing so quickly that it felt as if it was about to leap out of her chest.
She had known that pushing the blame to Leah would raise Master Harrisâ suspicions, but she was still willing to take the risk!
Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
ï¤Chapter 315 Donât Kneel Down, The Floorâs Very Cool âSophia spent two years in jail where she was constantly pushed around and bullied. Do you think itâs strange for her to come up with something like stabbing Ken with earrings?â Before Sophia could answer, Charles spoke first.
Aunt Jacinda piped in as well, âMaster Harris, youâre being too skeptical now, arenât you? Frankly, Sophia grew up fighting with other children. Itâs understandable that she did it because of how urgent the situation was.â
âYes... Thatâs right,â Sophia added nervously, âBesides, whenever I stirred up trouble as a kid, Iâd get scared of being scolded by my parents, so I...
âI had the habit of lying. At that time, Mr. Phillips was worried that he would aggravate you if you found out that he kidnapped me, so he went with me to the obstetrician visit. Then, I...â
