Chapter 316

Although Charles knew that Sophia was merely cooking up excuses, his eyes still darkened.

He did have that mentality at first, but he soon realized that Grandfather would never come to love him as much as Justin.

Master Harris kept quiet for a while before turning around. With his back to Sophia, he asked, “I asked you if you’re really pregnant. Why are you talking about all these meaningless things?”

“It’s true, I... I will never lie to you anymore,” Sophia replied, “If you don’t believe me, you can ask someone to buy a pregnancy test now and I’ll have Aunt Jacinda... Watch me take the test...”

Aunt Jacinda had served Master Harris for over ten years now, so even if he did not believe his own children, there was no way he did not trust Aunt Jacinda.

Upon hearing Sophia’s suggestion, Aunt Jacinda chimed in, “The girl doesn’t look like she’s lying. Master Harris, it doesn’t take long to take a pregnancy test anyway. Why don’t we just do it now so you won’t have any regrets?”

“Regrets? Why would I have regrets?!” This was Master Harris’ way of saying that he agreed with the suggestion.

Aunt Jacinda then suggested treating Sophia’s wound, which Master Harris permitted. Before the maids could even move, Charles rushed to his room and brought out the first aid kit. He swiftly began to clean Sophia’s wound.

Sophia’s muscles contracted when the antiseptic came into contact with the wound. She broke into a cold sweat.

“Does it hurt?” Charles looked up at her and asked.

Sophia shook her head. “It’s fine.”

“You have your very own first aid kit and you’re able to bandage a wound so skillfully. Are you sure you didn’t plan on becoming a doctor?” Master Harris asked in a weird tone.

Charles did not even look his way as he replied, “Well, I tend to get beaten up every now and then. Since I didn’t have anyone to help me treat my wounds, I had to learn myself.”

Although his voice was loud and clear as if he was talking about something casual and unimportant, the words were much more substantial. Sophia opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Master Harris was a bit taken aback. His face changed as he snorted. “Well, blame that on your own grandmother!”

The Harris family’s maids moved quickly, and soon enough, they had brought back a pregnancy stick as well as other accurate test measures.

Aunt Jacinda went to the bathroom together with Sophia, and after trying out several tests, she confirmed that Sophia was pregnant.

Before Master Harris could lose his temper, Sophia threw herself on the floor and began sobbing in fright, “The last time I... I only lied to you to save myself, but this time... I’m really not lying this time. Grandfather, please forgive... Forgive me! I promise to take good care of this baby...”

Master Harris sat down on the sofa and looked down at her. There was no hint of emotion in his face, and he did not say whether he forgave her nor, did he ask her to get up.

“The floor is chilly, get up.” Charles reached over to pull her up.

However, Sophia shook her head and pushed him away. “If Grandfather doesn’t forgive me, I... I don’t dare to get up.”

Charles had cleaned the bloodstains on her face earlier when he was treating her wound, but now as she began crying again, tears and snot were all over her face. She looked just as dirty and wretched as before.

“Grandfather, please just let her get up. After all, she’s really pregnant. It won’t be good for the baby if she kneels on the floor like this.” Aunt Jacinda suggested kindly.

Master Harris kept quiet, the deep wrinkles on his face showing anger and suspicion as he asked Sophia, “With that brain of yours, I bet you wouldn’t be able to come up with a scheme to deceive me, let alone such a meticulous one...”

He gave Charles a side glance before continuing in a harsher tone, “Did Charles put you up to it?”

He had not been in contact with Sophia much, but everyone knew that the White siblings were only capable of idling away their time pleasure-seeking and stirring up trouble. To put it bluntly, they did not know sh*t!

Even two years in prison had not changed Sophia’s character. Seeing how detailed and elaborated the scheme was to deceive him, there must be someone behind her back directing her what to do!

“No!” Sophia quickly shook her head. “If you were to find out that we have been lying to you together, I might even lose my life! Charles would never take such a risk!”

Master Harris snorted but said nothing. However, the look on his face suggested that he agreed with her.

He knew this grandson of his well. Just like himself, Charles would never take such huge risks. He always had a plan and preferred to arrange everything in advance.

“Leah’s the one who taught me everything!” Sophia wiped away her tears and instantly, the fear on her face moments ago was replaced with anger. “I don’t know how she found out that you wanted to send me away.”

“She came to me and told me that she knew you well enough... That you wouldn’t send me away. You would just send me to a horrible place and leave me to rot there.”

Master Harris frowned and asked solemnly, “And you believed her just like that?”

“If I had believed her, I wouldn’t have gone off with Ken and the others!” As if reliving the whole experience, Sophia’s face showed pure rage. “I told her I didn’t believe her and I wanted to leave.

“But Leah stopped me and said it doesn’t matter whether I believe her, as long as after you send me to a rotten place, everything will be fine if I just lie that I’m pregnant.

“Just think about it, she’s obviously up to no good! She told me all of those in the past not because it would do me good, but because she wants me to lie to you and aggravate you. She wants me to use you to break me and Charles apart!”

She kept sneaking glances at Master Harris to check his reaction when she spoke, every cell in her body tense and anxious.

Master Harris had both his hands on his cane as he remained silent, his stern glare locked on her.

Sophia’s throat felt extremely dry after this whole ordeal. Although the weather was chilly, she could not stop sweating.

“Can you please just get up first?” Not giving her the chance to refuse this time, Charles straightaway pulled her up from the floor and brought her to the sofa.

All the while, Sophia stared anxiously at Master Harris.

“Can you just sit down? Why do you keep staring at me!” Master Harris’ head suddenly jolted up as he fixed his eyes on Sophia.

Just like a scorpion under ultraviolet light, Sophia tensed up.

“So Leah taught you all these? Did she teach you to ask Sawyer to lie on your behalf as well as stab Ken’s temple with earrings?!” Master Harris raised his voice at the last question.

Sophia’s heart was racing so quickly that it felt as if it was about to leap out of her chest.

She had known that pushing the blame to Leah would raise Master Harris’ suspicions, but she was still willing to take the risk!

Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!

Chapter 315 Don’t Kneel Down, The Floor’s Very Cool “Sophia spent two years in jail where she was constantly pushed around and bullied. Do you think it’s strange for her to come up with something like stabbing Ken with earrings?” Before Sophia could answer, Charles spoke first.

Aunt Jacinda piped in as well, “Master Harris, you’re being too skeptical now, aren’t you? Frankly, Sophia grew up fighting with other children. It’s understandable that she did it because of how urgent the situation was.”

“Yes... That’s right,” Sophia added nervously, “Besides, whenever I stirred up trouble as a kid, I’d get scared of being scolded by my parents, so I...

“I had the habit of lying. At that time, Mr. Phillips was worried that he would aggravate you if you found out that he kidnapped me, so he went with me to the obstetrician visit. Then, I...”
