Sophiaâs expression instantly changed. âWhat do you mean?!â
Judging from how worked up she was and how her voice broke a little toward the end, it was obvious she was panicking.
âAs I said earlier, I really donât mean anything. Letâs just mind our own business from now on, shall we?â Leah said sincerely, âSophia, youâre not suited to meddle in the companyâs businesses, just like your brother. I think Uncle James made the right decision by not handing the company over to you.â
Sophia clenched her fists. âYou spent almost three years incriminating me. Do you think Grandpa will believe you if you told him that Iâm not pregnant?â
âGrandpa Harris might not believe me, but I can at least convince him to bring you to another check-up at the hospital. Sophia, do you think you can get away with it one more time?â Leah said lightly.
Sophia gulped nervously and reached out to touch her hair. Then, she quietly rubbed her hand on her shirt.
âYou donât have to answer me in such a hurry, weâve just started eating. It wonât be too late if you answer my question after we finish eating.â Leah opened the packaging for the chopsticks and placed it on top of Sophiaâs plate before taking some enoki mushrooms.
Sophia remained quiet for a very long time as if she was silently making a tough decision.
Leah gave her a light smile and cooked herself some lettuce. She proceeded to eat it gracefully as she eyed Sophia in amusement.
âLetâs not talk about whether you can convince Grandfather. Even if you did convince him, I have Charles to protect me, so what can he possibly do?!â Sophia stood up and placed both hands on the table as she glared at Leah.
Leah dabbed the corner of her mouth with a napkin and asked, âAre you admitting that youâre not pregnant?â
Sophia paled upon hearing the words. Then, as if trying to cover it up, she said, âI didnât lie to Grandpa, I really am pregnant. Otherwise, I wouldnât be able to deceive Grandfather.â
âYou know best whether youâre really pregnant or not,â Leah said slowly, âSophia, donât do anything stupid. Youâre already Charlesâ girlfriend and youâll be able to marry into the Harris family any day now. Thatâs worth much more than 162 million, isnât it?
âBesides, our company will make the payment to White Group in the future along with the applied interest rate as well as the penalty for breach of contract. Frankly, White Group wonât suffer a loss.â
Sophiaâs mind seemed to wander off slightly as if she was contemplating her words.
âCome on, letâs eat. The soupâs very tasty.â Leah pushed the plate of pig hearts in front of Sophia.
Sophia had lowered her head moments ago, but she suddenly looked up at Leah. Her expression was calm and collected now. âCharles threatened Grandfather with a knife last time to protect me. I believe that he wonât just let me be if anything were to happen to me.â
âItâs two oâclock now, you still have ten hours to prepare the money. Otherwise, youâll see news of Jones Group deliberately delaying payment to White Group as a personal attack to me in the early hours of the morning.â Sophia interrupted her unpleasantly and left right away with her purse.
As Leah stared at her figure that gradually disappeared from sight, the smile on her face slowly went away. It was replaced with a look of disdain.
When she got here earlier and listened to everything Sophia said, she had thought that Sophia finally got smarter.
However, it turned out that she was still an idiot!
How could someone like her be worthy of Charles?
Leah raised her glass of juice and took a sip. Even if Charles did not choose her, he should not settle for someone like Sophia.
She was currently the only woman who barely met the conditions to be good enough for Charles!
She took out her phone and contacted someone from Jones Group to prepare the payment. Then, she made a call to Grandpa Harris. âGrandpa Harris is that you... Oh, itâs nothing. I havenât seen you in a long time, so I just miss...â
After leaving the restaurant, Sophia only managed to recollect herself after getting slightly further away. The anger and anxiousness in her face had disappeared as she returned to her usual calm self.
The hickeys on her neck were too obvious, and in addition to her being one of the top trending topics nowadays, passersby could not help but glance at her when they saw her.
Sophia was wearing a coat, but it only had two buttons, so it did not help cover the marks on her neck. Nevertheless, she was not bothered by it and could not care less when people eyed her.
The mall was crowded, and there were over a dozen people waiting for the elevator.
Sophia got to the back of the line and immediately heard someone talking about her. âSheâs really pretty, and she has quite a nice body. But itâs not nice to match a yellow coat with a pastel yellow sweater!â
Sophia could barely hold back the smile tugging at her lips when she heard the person. She got into the elevator and pressed the button for the lower ground floor. She headed straight to the supermarketâs storage locker and took out a bag she had placed inside.
She brought the bag to the washroom and took off the sweater in one of the cubicles. Then, she changed back into the grey high-neck sweater she was wearing this morning.
As she was changing halfway, Sophia suddenly remembered something. She took off the sweater once again and grabbed some makeup remover wipes. Then, she wiped the red marks on her neck before putting on her sweater.
She had discovered that if you pinched your neck hard enough, you would get a red mark almost identical to a hickey.
However, knowing how quick-witted Leah was, Sophia was worried that she would notice something unusual, so she added some makeup so that it looked even more similar to a real hickey.

Once Sophia was done, she came out of the cubicle with her bag of things. By then, there were more people waiting in the toilet. The lady standing outside her cubicle was slightly surprised when she saw Sophia coming out of the cubicle with so many things.
âExcuse me,â Sophia said to the woman and made her way in front of the mirror. She checked herself several times before finally leaving the toilet.
Beep.
Beep.
Her phone began buzzing all of a sudden.
When Sophia saw the caller ID on her phone screen, she frowned slightly. Just as she was about to pick up the call, she accidentally bumped into someone.
âIâm sorââ Sophia quickly apologized, but as soon as she saw the person whom she had bumped into, the words stopped in her throat.
William was standing before her, dressed casually instead of his usual three-piece suit. Sophia sized him up subtly and realized that she did not recognize any of the clothing brands he was wearing.
Aside from that, his hair was longer than before. He seemed so unkept, unlike the William Jones she knew to be exceptionally exquisite and particular.
Sophia stared at him as her brows furrowed even more. She turned and walked around him, but he caught up with her in a blink of an eye. The person who had called her moments ago also gave up as well when she did not pick up after a long time.
âDo you really enjoy going back on your words again and again, William?â Sophia asked coldly.

ï¤Chapter 311 What If You Have To Choose One?
Seeing that she still had this attitude toward him, bitterness flashed in Williamâs amber eyes. âIâm about to go abroad now and I may not come back for a very long time. I just wanted to see you one last time.â
âOkay, you have seen me now. Can you let me go?â Sophia replied coolly.
William gave a wry smile as he reached out his hand. He wanted to touch her head just like he always did in the past.
However, Sophia dodged his hand and took a few steps backward. Her eyes were filled with disgust as she glared at him. âMr. Jones, please watch yourself.â
âI broke off my engagement to the Sommer Family and severed all ties with everyone back home. They thought I was just throwing a tantrum and I would eventually go back, so they didnât try to stop me.â
âThen, when they finally realized that Iâm being serious, they had the company I was working for to fire me. They even asked the other big companies to not hire me and stopped all my credit cards just to force me to go home.â William withdrew his hand with a bitter expression, his eyes filled with pain, remorse, and an indescribable sense of emotion that Sophia could not place.
