Sterling swallowed with difficulty as the bloody veins spread in his eyes. He clenched his teeth as green veins popped up on his forehead, but he did not say a word.
âSter, youâre not a little boy anymore. Donât be so rash when handling things or youâll only bring trouble to yourself. You might even place Nicole and the two kids in a precarious position. You need to remember that youâre not alone. You canât be doing this with wanton disregard,â said Sophia.
Tears flowed down one side of Sterlingâs cheek. His whole body was tight with tension. âSo, we canât... We canât return to how we were?â
âYeah.â Sophia lowered her eyes and nodded, her fingers grasping the corner of her sweater.
Sterling trembled as he took a breath. âIâll do my best to be more powerful, then we can...â
âWe can never return to the past,â Sophia finished his sentence.
âSter, even if you work hard right now, all you can do is make a better life for yourself and stop yourself from being manipulated by others, but no matter how hard you work and how powerful you become, even if youâre on the same par as Charles, we can never return to before.â
Sterling crouched on the ground with both hands hugging his head. He shouted in pain.
Sophia lowered her eyes to look at him, quietly sighing several times. Her heart was like the dirty laundry in the washing machine, all entangled in a vicious mess.
The commotion upstairs was too loud. James rushed upstairs. âWhatâs going on? Sterling, why did Lisa say you were arguing with Charles?â
Jenny followed behind him as she stared at the room door. There was an undeniable look of anxiousness on her face. She could not see what had happened in the room, and her gaze turned toward Sophia. She breathed a quiet sigh of relief when she saw the red marks on Sophiaâs neck.
Sterling stood up and glared angrily at James. He shouted at James with reddened eyes, âCanât I argue with him for no good reason?! I hate that son of a b*tchâs gut and I hate your guts too! If you werenât so selfish, things would never have turned out this way!â
James was bewildered by this sudden angry attack. He roared back, âWhatâs the matter with you again?â
âThis is because of you! Everything that happened is your fault. Iâll never ever forgive you!â Sterling said viciously as he strode away and went downstairs.
James watched him run out of the villa with a confused look. He turned to ask Sophia, âWhatâs going on? Why did your brother go crazy?â
âNothing,â Sophia said with a calm expression.
Master Harrisâ opinion was like a fishbone stuck steadily in Jamesâ heart.
He was not bothered by Sterling and stared at the closed room door while asking, âIs Charles in there? Get him out here for me. Iâd like to ask him something.â
âItâs not really... Convenient for him right now. You can ask him later,â Jenny said nervously.
She pushed Sophia and said, âEverythingâs fine now. Hurry up and get in. Donât let Charles wait up for you.â
James was baffled. âWhy would it be inconvenient? How do you know Charles is not convenient to see me now?â
âSoph, hurry up and get in.â Jenny prompted Sophia, and before Sophia could answer, Jenny opened the door and pushed Sophia in. She then closed the door behind her.
Sophia watched the door shut and heard the sound of her parents arguing outside the door. She pursed her lips and locked the door before proceeding to take off her clothes as she walked toward where Charles was.
Their dripping sweat became entangled with their heavy breathing as Sophiaâs body moved along to Charles' rhythm. She wrapped her hands around his neck at passionate moments. Those annoyingly unsettling matters seemed like something that had happened in a past life.
Sophia was now unable to tell if she was living in reality or was existing in a hallucination.
Their passion burned through the night.
The next morning came.
When Sophia opened her eyes, the first thing that met her was Charlesâ gaze. He steadied himself on the bed with his right arm as he watched her while leaning on the side for who knew how long.
âGood morning,â Charles smiled slightly. The sun was shining in his eyes that were filled with stars.
He leaned forward to kiss Sophia, but she reacted by turning her head to the side. His lips fell onto her ear.
âYou didnât brush your teeth,â Sophia said.
Charles laid back down next to her. His hand moved toward her under the covers and touched her on the waist. Sophiaâs body stiffened as she hinted. âIâm too tired from last night.â
She was truly exhausted. Her whole body ached terribly, especially her waist. She did not have the stamina to accompany him for another bout of exercise so early in the morning.
âDonât be nervous,â Charlesâ hand moved below her body. He did not do anything that crossed the line. All he did was massage her waist gently.
Sophiaâs body finally relaxed at this. The massage was not working well while in this position, so she flipped around and laid down on her stomach instead. This made it easier for him to massage her.
âI couldnât control myself because of the drugs. Iâll try my best to be more gentle tonight.â
A crack appeared in the blanket when she flipped over, and the shapely curves of her body could be seen along with all the scars covering her body.
Charlesâ gaze fell on those scars, and the look in his eyes dimmed.
Tonight? Sophia frowned slightly. It was tough for her to take in such frequent intimacy, but she said nothing in the end.
She had to be pregnant with his child as quickly as possible.
âThereâs nothing going on today. You just continue to stay in bed. Iâll bring breakfast to you in a while.â Charles took a look at the time and pulled his hand out from the blanket as he got off the bed.
The fuzzy sunlight fell onto his naked body through the transparent curtains, showcasing the muscular outline of his strong body. Every piece of muscle looked like it was spread with sunshine.
The wild pheromones exuding from him disappeared the moment he put on his shirt and pants. He buttoned his shirt to the very top, creating a sense of restraint, which was all that was left from his dressing and exquisite yet cold features.
âItâs fine, Iâll have breakfast downstairs with you.â Sophia turned her gaze away. Her expression looked normal, but her ears were slightly red.
Charles cocked his head to the side to stare at her. He did not object. All he did was produce a new set of female undergarments and passed it to her.
She looked slightly bewildered, so he explained lightly. âFemale undergarments are not designed to last.â
He was worried about her undergarments being ruined, so he had prepared a few sets.
Sophia moved around under the covers to put on her clothes while looking at him with an uncomfortable expression. âThat little luggage you brought yesterday...â
âItâs filled with them. Iâll buy more if itâs not enough,â said Charles.
Sophia, â...â

ï¤Chapter 295 Thereâs Nothing To Be Said About Being Willing Or Unwilling To After putting on her clothes, she tried to get off the bed but realized her limbs were aching and wobbly. Lucky for her, Charles caught her around the waist, which stopped her from falling in a disheveled manner.
âThanks,â Sophia said as she tried to free herself from him.
Charles lowered his eyes to look at her, his palms grasping onto her like an iron claw. âDo you still want to fall over?â
Sophia pursed her lips and stopped moving as he helped her out the door. Sterlingâs room was next to hers. When they exited the room, they bumped right into Sterling who was still in his pajamas.
There was a light fuzz around Sterlingâs chin. It looked like he had not slept the whole night or did not sleep well. His eyes were filled with red veins, and he looked pretty bad.
He glanced darkly at Charles, and for once, did not argue with him nor roar at him.
âShouldnât you rest a little more? If you donât feel well, just lie down in bed. Iâll send breakfast to you,â Sterling said, his voice sounding like a broken drum.
