After sweeping his gaze rapidly across those standing at the door, Master Harrisâ eyes fell on Sophia. His gaze was one that was certainly not amiable.
The sweat on Sophia's forehead was suddenly falling like the rain. She dropped her head and tried her best to wipe the sweat from her forehead while looking as natural as possible.
"Iâm really sorry for interrupting your rest, Grandpa Harris." Sawyer looked Master Harris up and down. A look of pleasant surprise was concealed in the depth of his eyes when he noticed how Master Harris was full of energy, yet he seemed a lot thinner and quite unwell too.
Master Harris then shifted his gaze away from Sophia and fixed it on him. "Who are you?"
"Dad, this is the boy from the Phillips family." Next to him, Oscar explained whilst chuckling.
After hearing what he said, Master Harrisâ already sullen expression turned even more sullen. His eyes flickered past Sawyer as he said, "Whatâs a Phillips like you doing here alone? Youâre here to see whether Iâm dead yet?"
After all, he was the Harris familyâs authority figure and had a far more powerful aura than Charles. Sawyer did not even have the guts to lift his head up. He lowered his head and said, "You must be joking, Grandpa Harris. Iâm just..."
"Go back and tell your grandpa that he won't get a single benefit from the Harris family whether Iâm dead or alive. Just tell him to give up!" Master Harris said, "Oscar, see our guest off!"
Oscar walked up to Sawyer and said with a smile, "Letâs go, Sawyer."
"I will leave after saying a few words to Grandpa Harris." Sawyer dared not behave impetuously in front of three elders, but he was also worried that Master Harris would put the blame on him after what happened to Sophia if he just walked away.
Sophia's pupils contracted. She was breathing slightly faster than usual.
Master Harris turned his head to look at Sawyer. He cast the young man a hostile gaze.
Before he could say anything to drive him out, Sawyer said hastily, "Two of my bodyguards accidentally crashed into Ms. White's car today. After learning that sheâs pregnant, I was worried about the child in her belly, so I rushed her to a nearby hospital.
"I hope you will forgive me for sending Ms. White back so late after the delay on the road, Grandpa Harris."
Hearing that Sophia was pregnant, the Harris brothers turned to look at Sophia's belly at the same time. Oscar was still wearing the same laughing eyes, but Ted's face was full of unconcealable vigilance and hostility.
Master Harris glowered at Sawyer, his gaze as sharp as a blade. "So your men were the ones who crashed into Sophiaâs car and took her away?"
Sophia lowered her head and held her breath subconsciously.
She could almost guess the reason why Master Harris was so mad. His rage stemmed from the complications and issues that Sawyer brought up.
Had it not been for his interception, she would have been sent to prison by now.
In Sawyer's point of view, however, Master Harris was so mad simply because his men nearly injured the child in Sophia's belly.
He wiped the sweat from his forehead and whispered, "They drank some alcohol and accidentally crashed into Ms. White's car. I have sent Ms. White to the hospital for an examination. Both she and the child in her belly are completely fine."
Having said that, he turned to look at Sophia. "Right, Ms. White?"
Master Harris' gaze fell on Sophia before finally stopping on her belly. His expression was unpredictable.
"... Mm." Getting stared at by Master Harris, Sawyer, and the Harris brothers all at the same time, Sophia dared not say a word more for fear that someone would catch her mistake if she chose the wrong word to say.
Master Harris frowned and asked in a deep voice, "The child in your belly..." âWhen did it happen?â
"The child in Ms. White's belly is two months old now and is in good health. The car accident did not injure the child at all. The baby boy is really lucky." Sawyer was afraid that Master Harris would blame him. If his grandpa and his father knew that he had gotten into trouble again, they would definitely make him pay for his crimes this time!
They had already beaten him up after the news several days ago. If Master Harris turned up at their house this time, heavens knew what they would do to him!
Master Harris furrowed his eyebrows, then eased them up before frowning again. He asked Sawyer, "Are you sure?"
"Positive and sure!" Sawyer said, "I personally accompanied Ms. White to do the check-up. The child is safe and sound, alive and well!"
Sophia's forehead, nose wing, palms, and back were all soaked with sweat. She continued to lower her head in silence as Master Harris and the Harris brothers looked her up and down.
"Thatâs enough. You can leave now," Master Harris said.
Sophia breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what he said. She then hummed a response and walked with brisk yet steady steps toward the elevator.
After taking just two steps, however, Master Harris called out from behind, "Iâm asking Sawyer to leave, where are you going? Come back!"
Sophiaâs body went rigid, and her brows wrinkled slightly.
"I asked you to come back. Canât you hear me?!" Master Harris roared.
"Grandpa Harris is calling you. Go on." Sawyer reminded Sophia gently, but his raised fox-like eyes were filled with warnings. He was warning her not to speak carelessly.
Sophia raised her head and glanced at him. Then, she turned around with a stiff back as she walked toward Master Harris step by step as though she was going through fire and water.
Sawyer lingered no more and left straight away.
"Are you really pregnant with Charles' child?" Ted asked impatiently. âDonât you think that this is such an uncanny coincidence?â
Oscar nodded. âThe coincidence is uncanny indeed.â
Master Harris frowned and glanced at the brothers. The depth of his eyes revealed a flash of the many vicissitudes in life, though in no time at all, he focused his gaze on Sophia again.
"Are you doubting me?" Sophia's fingers trembled slightly under their gazes.
Oscar chuckled and said gently, "Weâre not doubting you. Itâs just a casual question. Don't be nervous."
"I may be lying, but Mr. Phillips has made it very clear that he accompanied me to an examination. The child is two months old now. Heâs very healthy," Sophia said, "Do you think Mr. Phillips will lie for me?"
Ted said immediately, "Who knows? Maybe you messed around with Sawyer and got pregnant. Now youâre just trying to give birth to that child so he can share the inheritance!"
Master Harris' expression turned livid at once. No one knew if he was mad because of the word âinheritanceâ or Ted's speculation for being too mindless. Perhaps he believed in Tedâs words?
"Ted!" Oscar said with displeasure, âThe medical technology is so advanced right now. Dad will be cured. Do you even hear how inauspicious you sound!"
Ted was seemingly upset by his words, but he did not say anything else after that.

"If I hear another word about the inheritance, then donât even dream about taking a single penny from me!" Master Harris roared.
Ted chuckled sheepishly and stroked his back, coaxing, "Donât be angry, Dad! You know me. Iâm just a crude man who never pays attention to my choice of words like Oscar and the rest. I was just speaking mindlessly earlier. I certainly donât mean it!"
"I know you have no evil intentions, just don't say that in front of other people or theyâll use that to have leverage over you," Master Harris said.
A flash of unwillingness flashed across Oscar's eyes. He said with a smile, "Ted is plain tactless. This is not the first day you learned about this, Dad.â
