"Thank you, Dr. Hemingway. Iâm already happy enough that youâre willing to treat my leg." Sophia tugged at her lips.
Victor nodded slightly. "Itâs time for you to do your check-up today. Don't forget to come over later."
It had only been less than a week since the last check-up. He was clearly saying so to help her find an excuse to leave.
"Thank you, Dr. Hemingway. I will go over after Mr. Phillips delivers these things to Master Harris," Sophia said.
She clenched the hem of her clothes slightly. The sweat on her palms was no less than the amount of sweat she had when she was dealing with Sawyer alone.
They were about to meet Master Harris soon. It was not easy to fool him as she did Sawyer! What was more, while she was dealing with Master Harris, she also had to prevent Sawyer from pulling the rug from under her feet... This was no easy feat at all.
Sawyer was carrying a bunch of nutritional products in his hands. When he heard the meaningless exchange between the two, impatience was written all over his face. "Are you done?"
"Iâll leave you to it then, Ms. White. Goodbye." Victor flashed a smile at Sophia and left.
Sawyer stared at his back and harrumphed heavily, asking grumpily, "Which ward?"
"... I think itâs this floor." There was something on Sophiaâs mind, hence she only answered his question after a pause.
Sawyer stopped in his tracks and narrowed his fox-like eyes, gnashing his teeth. "Are you messing with me?"
"All the Harris family members have come to stay overnight in the wards on this floor after learning that Master Harris is ill," Sophia explained.
She did not know the specifics at all and had only heard about these things from Claraâs gossips. What was more, she was completely clueless as to which ward Master Harris was in.
Sawyer was unhappy with her vague answer. "Iâm asking you, which ward is Master Harris in?"
He got down on her eye level and stared into her eyes for some time before saying, "You have no idea which ward Master Harris is in at all and made up those lies earlier to fool me, right?â
"Why would I?" A layer of sweat formed on the wing of Sophia's nose. In a split second, she recalled the old lady from before who had asked her to keep her voice down. She said that her old man had lung cancer. Master Harris had lung cancer and he was staying on this floor too!
She raised her weak finger and pointed at the ward in front, pretending to look breezy. "That's the one."
Sawyer straightened up his back and looked in the direction where she was pointing at. Then, he took large strides toward the ward with the nutritional products in his hands.
Sophia followed behind him. She had not come up with a script to deal with Master Harris yet, hence she tried her best to delay the time by walking slower.
The hospital corridor was not long at all. No matter how slow her pace was, she soon came to the ward door.
"What are you dawdling for? Hurry up!" Sawyer darted Sophia a sidelong glance and was about to knock on the ward door.
When she saw what he was trying to do, Sophia subconsciously cried out, "Wait a minute!"
Sawyerâs fist was suspended in the air. He then retracted it and stared at her with a look of confusion and impatience.
"Master Harris isnât feeling very well. You might upset him if you knock on the door so rashly like that.â Sophia's palms were soaked with sweat. She wiped them on her skirt, but as soon as she wiped them dry, another layer of sweat formed on her palms again.
She had not figured out a way to deal with Master Harris yet.
If her lie was exposed, she might have to face both Master Harris and Sawyerâs wrath at the same time!
Sawyer leaned against the wall with the nutritional products in his hands and narrowed his eyes at Sophia, saying slowly, "Are you keeping something from me, Ms. White?"
Sophia was having goosebumps all over her body. Her thick and curly eyelashes that resembled butterfly wings trembled a few times.
She would raise suspicion if she stopped Sawyer from knocking on the door. However, if she did not stop him from knocking on the door, her lie would be exposed immediately if she went in to see Master Harris with him...
There was a wolf in front of her and a tiger behind. She furrowed her brows, bit the bullet, and was just about to say something when she heard two doors opening consecutively.
The ones who walked out were Ted Harris, the third son of the Harris family, and Oscar Harris, the eldest son of the Harris family. The brothers darted only one glance at Sophia before fixing their gazes on Sawyer at the same time.
Oscar smiled like a kind elder. âSawyer, what are you doing here at the hospital?"
He glanced at the nutritional products in Sawyer's hands. "Youâre here to see Grandpa Harris?"
Without waiting for Sawyer to say anything, Ted said sarcastically, "Your grandfather must have asked you to come to the hospital to scout for information after hearing that Master Harris is ill, right?"
Sophia breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what they said.
With them around, Sawyer might not be able to see Master Harris at all! Even if they could not stop Sawyer, they could more or less buy her some time to think of a way to deal with Master Harris.
"Youâre pulling my leg, Uncle Ted. Our families share such a close relationship. Itâs only natural that I, as a junior, come visit Grandpa Harris at the hospital. Thereâs no such thing as scouting for information," Sawyer said in a reverent tone, yet he remained leaning against the wall with an indifferent attitude.
Oscar sighed. "We appreciate your kindness, Sawyer, but Grandpa Harris isnât feeling well enough lately to accept visitors. We hope you understand!"
"He canât even accept visitors now? Is Grandpa Harris critically ill?" Thinking that the nutritional products were too heavy to carry, Sawyer placed them on the ground straight away.
The Harris brothers exchanged glances after hearing what he said. Ted said with displeasure, "Are you cursing Master Harris?"
"Your words donât make sense, Uncle Ted," Sawyer said, "Uncle Oscar said it himself that Grandpa Harris isnât feeling well enough to accept visitors. I was just making a fair guess."
Ted looked livid and was about to say something when Oscar grabbed hold of him and laughed. "My words were too ambiguous. There is nothing wrong with Grandpa Harris. He doesnât feel well and needs some good rest, thatâs all."
Sophia lowered her head. She was only wearing an evening gown, hence she was freezing at this moment. Even her nose had turned red from the cold.
She rubbed her cold arm a few times, her fingers trembling slightly.
If Sawyer still refused to give up and insisted on going in to visit Master Harris after what the Harris brothers had said, he would certainly bring up her affairs!
Sure enough...
Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
ï¤Chapter 227 I Don't Believe That You Would Be So Kind "Actually, Iâm not dying to meet Grandpa Harris either. But, thereâs a misunderstanding between Grandpa Harris and my men because of Ms. White.
The reason why Iâm here this time is to offer Grandpa Harris an explanation," Sawyer said.
Sophia's heart fell with a thump. She was wondering if they would allow Sawyer into Master Harris' ward after what he said...
Ted harrumphed heavily. "Youâre making so many excuses simply because the Phillips family sent you here to scout for information, right? Leave your things here and go. Stop playing these petty tricks with me!"
Sawyerâs expression was starting to turn surly. "But..."
"If you still refuse to leave, then don't blame me for asking someone to throw you out!" Ted said word by word.
Sophia lowered her head and licked her dry lips.
She hoped that Sawyer would be driven away just like that so that she would not have to think of ways to cover up her lies in front of Master Harris and Sawyer anymore!
However, things would not always turn out as one wished...
"Whatâs with all the fuss out here?" The door of the ward opened and Master Harris walked out with a white bandage wrapped around his neck. He had a sullen look on his face.
