Chapter 137 of 493

Chapter 140

Everyone present in the living room looked slightly dreadful upon hearing his words. Despite that, the Lewis family had always been strict. As juniors, they were in no position to criticize Master Lewis.

William was so mad that his good-looking face alternated between blue and white. "Tiffany is a woman who works in a place of pleasure. Now, everyone knows that she’s..."

He found it hard to even say it. "...pregnant with your child. Do you know what other people are saying about the Lewis and Jones families?"

"She was forced to work in a place of pleasure due to the circumstances of her family and livelihood. It’s not her fault." Master Lewis frowned. "As for the things that other people are saying about us, we can’t control what they say nor should we hear what they have to say.”

William straightened his neck. His handsome face was flushed, and the blue veins on his forehead bulged out. His lips were quivering non-stop. "I’ve respected you since I was a child. You’ve been a role model to me in everything that you do. I can’t believe that you would do such an unethical thing and not feel the slightest bit ashamed about it. Now you’re even attempting to use these fallacies to convince us!"

The expression on Master Lewis’ face changed as he grabbed the teacup on the table and hurled it at William.

The teacup hit William's forehead. The warm tea ran down his cheeks before clattering to the ground, splitting into several pieces.

Master Lewis stood up and glared at William with a livid look on his face. "Will, I taught you etiquette since you were young. Is this how you talk to your elders?"

"Will!" Madam Jones could not help it anymore. She darted over to William and looked at the blood oozing out of his head. Her heart was broken into a million pieces. "You’re bleeding. Does it hurt a lot?"

William pursed his lips and fixed his nail-like gaze on Master Lewis.

"Grandpa, William is just flustered. That’s why he didn’t choose his words wisely." Leah maneuvered her wheelchair over and said softly, "Don't bother arguing with the likes of him."

After that, she turned to William. "William, hurry up and apologize to Grandpa. Look how mad Grandpa is because of you."

"I'm speaking the truth." William clenched his fist tightly and glared at Master Lewis. "A man in his 70s sleeping with a 20-year-old woman who works in a place of pleasure, feeling no remorse even after the whole world now knows that she’s pregnant. You’re a terrible example to the younger generations!”

Under Master Lewis’ dark and grim gaze, he uttered word by word, "You’re an old rascal!"

Master Lewis had been a respectable figure regardless at home or in public. Hearing William say these things to his face had his anger flaring up.

"Get lost. From now on, I will treat it as though I’ve never had a disloyal grandson like you!"

"Dad, Will is still a kid. Why are you taking him so seriously?!" Madam Jones turned to look at Master Lewis and quickly roared in anger.

She turned around, took William’s hand, and tried to console him. However, she ended up getting pushed aside by him.

William snorted coldly. His amber eyes were filled with fury. "Fine. I don't want to have a shameless Grandpa like you either—you embarrass me!"

After saying those words, he wiped the blood from his head and stormed off.

Everyone in the living room exchanged glances with each other and ultimately turned to look at Master Lewis.

"Dad, I don’t think it’s necessary for you to disown Will as your grandson for a woman who works at a place of pleasure, right?"

"You are already in your 70s. The woman called Tiffany must be up to no good for dating you, no? Also, who knows who the child in her stomach actually belongs to!"

"She’s right, Dad. Even if that child is yours, do you think that woman should give birth to that child? Even your great-grandson is four years old now!"

Each and every one of them took their turns to speak. The living room was a mess. It was as noisy as a fish market.

Master Lewis' expression collapsed. He sat on the couch and slammed the table. "Shut up, all of you!"

Everyone clammed up immediately. The living room was suddenly in pin-drop silence.

"What do you think, Leah?" Master Lewis eased up his expression, poured himself a cup of tea, picked it up, and took a sip. He turned to look at Leah.

Suddenly, everyone’s focus was on Leah.

Leah bit her lip and said unhurriedly, "I know that your love for Ms. Lawrence is true. You’re not the pervert that the outside world is claiming you are."

"Leah!" Madam Jones tugged at her sleeves and said with a dreadful look on her face, "Why are you speaking up for that little bi..." “B*tch?’

Before she could finish her sentence, Mr. Jones dragged her to his side and motioned her to shut up.

Master Lewis’ wrinkly face had gone back to looking gentle and refined. He praised. "Leah is still the one who understands me best. Please go on."

"But Grandpa," Leah deliberately avoided the look of anticipation in Master Lewis’ eyes. "Ultimately, this won’t make us look good and will negatively impact both Jones and Lewis families."

Master Lewis slammed the teacup on the table with a loud bang. His expression collapsed.

Leah acted as though she did not see it. Her voice was still as soft as ever. "Moreover, I also know certain things about Ms. Lawrence. She has a terrible reputation. Grandpa, Ms. Lawrence must be harboring ill intentions for taking the initiative to approach you and drug you. Why don’t you ask her to get an abortion, and we can all pretend as though none of this has ever happened!"

"This is preposterous!" Master Lewis slammed his hand on the table again. His turbid eyes were filled with disappointment for Leah. "Tiff has never drugged me before. I won’t let any of you accuse a girl like her for the sake of my reputation. Only a vile person does this!"

Everyone’s expression turned dreadful after hearing his words.

Leah frowned almost imperceptibly and still wanted to say something when Master Lewis was one step ahead of her. “So what if I’m in my 70s? I’m not having an affair nor have I violated the law. What's so shameful about me dating openly?"

A dark color flashed in the depths of Leah's eyes. She moved a step forward. "Grandpa, you..."

"That’s enough!" Master Lewis stood up and cut her off with a stern look on his face. "Tiff is currently in Charles’ hands. It’s either you get Tiff back to me before the sun sets tonight, or I’ll do it myself!"

He snorted heavily, glanced at the crowd around him, and stomped away furiously.

Leah stared at his aged figure and pursed her lips. All she could feel was a sickening feeling as though she had eaten a fly.

Chaos broke out in the living room. Master Lewis' stubborn twilight romance had left everyone feeling helpless and dreary.

Madam Jones was an impatient person, yet there was nothing she could do. She asked anxiously, "Leah, you can’t go to Charles to get her for your Grandpa. What are you going to do if he decides not to get engaged with you anymore because of your Grandpa’s affairs?”

"Even so, I still have to go." Leah forced out a smile. No one could tell what would happen if Grandpa were to go personally.

Madam Jones' eyes widened. She asked incredulously, "Are you really going to go?"

"Do you have something else in mind, perhaps?" Leah threw the question back at her, raising her last note, sounding so irritable that she could barely conceal it.

He pursed his lips, drew out a cigarette, and held it in his mouth. Before he could light it, a nurse started over and said, "Sorry Sir, you can't smoke here."

"Mm." Charles put away the lighter, threw the cigarette into the trash can, then stood by the window looking into the distance. His mind was a pile of mess, yet he did not seem to be thinking about anything at all.

Beep.

His phone started vibrating.

Charles answered the phone. "Speak."

"I have made an appointment with Dr. Ian Lowe for the checkup, but..." The person on the other end continued cautiously. "But he refuses to come over after hearing that you’re the one who’s hiring him."
