Flashback
Back in Green Hill before the Prism shattering, our heroes had intercepted the mountain that Eggman was mining at. As soon as they slipped through the defenses, the team was almost immediately discovered by the Badniks, forcing them to fight back against those accursed foes.
"Where's Sonic?" Knuckles wondered as he punched approaching Badniks. "How long does it take to collect rings? I thought we were doing this together." He punches one Badnik over to Amy who hammers it.
"Sure would be nice if he'd stick to the plan." Amy said as she hammers one but gets hit by the other and falls to the ground. The large Caterkiller growls back at her, only for Ryder to step in and dash through its head, causing it to short out and fall.
"You got that right." Ryder agreed, then helped his fellow Hedgehog up.
"Tell me about it. No gem is worth me losing my wings." Rouge said, just before she kicked away two more . She then sees a drone spiraling around her, controlled by Tails.
"Don't worry, guys, Sonic will show. I know he will." Tails said hopefully as the drone hits several Badniks in a row.
Waiting, Ryder groans. "He better. I just hope it's in time." He then proceeds to sprint up the mountain to find an opening. 'Well well well, I guess we found out what Eggman was looking for.' He thought just before stopping at the hole. "Hey guys! Get over here, quick!"
The team then assembled at the entrance, with Rouge carrying Knuckles, and Tails carrying Amy.
Amy takes a look inside and sees a group of Burrobots attempting to remove the Paradox Prism from its burial grounds. "I'm guessing that's the Paradox Prism you were talking about, Rouge?" She gestures for Rouge to take a look, which she does.
"That's exactly what it is. I guess my hunch is right. Wonder what Eggman plans to use it for."
"That doesn't matter. What matters is that we bash some bots and stop him." Knuckles said, clenching his fists together.
"Hold on Knuckles, we can't just go rushing in. We need a plan of attack fir-" Ryder tries to come up with a plan but is interrupted by Knuckles' battle cry as he rushes in and glides toward Eggman. Ryder just sighs. "Nevermind then. Let's go!" Ryder and the rest then jump in to back Knuckles up.
Flashback End
Ryder faces his evil doppelganger Wrecker Rex as he sprints towards him hostilely as Sonic is stuck to a wall via Rusty Rose's extended arm.
"Terminate." Both Rusty Rose and Wrecker Rex say as they prepare to strike. Wrecker Rex jumps high into the air to land a finishing blow to Ryder as Rusty Rose prepares a flying fist and launches it in an attempt to attack Sonic. However, just as their fists are about to close in on their targets, they stop, frozen in place and until they begin to shake with their robotic eyes flickering to yellow.
Ryder opens his startled eyes and sees the shaking Rex right in front of him. He furrows his eyes, confused as to what was happening. He then looks to his left and sees Nine typing at the keyboard. The screen shows Rusty and Rex's status, in which they're bodies in the screen both turn green.
"Now paired." The computer reports. Nine picks up his scanner and configures it.
Rebel comes in and takes out a robot behind him and he aims his scanner. The light on Rusty Rose's eye turns yellow. He then proceeds to aim again at Wrecker Rex and he does the same.
"New admin privileges, colon, backslash, backslash, affirmative, now paired." Rex and Rusty both say in unison.
"Amy, are you... you?" Sonic asks cautiously.
"No, she's still a Chaos Council tool of destruction. They both are. Lucky for you, I'm in control of the robots now. You're welcome. Attack!"
Wrecker Rex and Rusty Rose move away from Ryder and Sonic and prepare for combat. A swarm of stream past the door. Rusty double-arms one robot, somersaults and lands a handstand in between the rest of them. She then stretches her legs out wide and twirls them around like a propeller, knocking out the other robots.
Another swarm enters the room. Rex rushes through the room to intercept them and slides between one of the Eggforcer's legs to get between them. He jumps and stretches his legs around one of their heads and squeezes until its head pops out. He slams the body on two others and lands on the ground. As he rises the final one lurks next to him and without turning, Rex configures his hand to a taser and zaps the final one out of commission.
Rusty rolls her eyes. "Show off."
Rex turns to her with a raised eyebrow. "Like you don't have a habit of keeping score?" He retorts.
Rusty rolls her eyebrows as she continues fighting. "What I do is get things done. Though if it gets to the point that I have to beat you in a contest to do it, who am I to stop it."
"Don't try to soften things up sister; admit it, you like this." Rex smirks at her and she glares.Rusty Rose refuses to respond and pushes down a rising platform full of Eggforcers, landing with a crash. "And you think I'm a show off." He said before tasing the two Enforcers beside him and sees a rising Rusty Rose, showing an intimidating look with extended legs.
Sonic, who is aside from the action, tries to catch his breath after the last incident and sees the laser from before coming towards him and ducks in the nick of time.
"Well, this is unexpected." Ryder commented on the controlled rebelling Cyborgs before ducking from the approaching laser.
The laser cuts everything as it travels around in a circle, including the remaining Eggforcers and another swarm of Eggforcers just as they walk past the door.
"Rusty Rose, Wrecker Rex, close that door." Nine orders them.
Rex enters a crouch start position before launching himself at the Eggforcers outside the entrance and lands at the end of the hallway.
Rusty stretches her arms to move the remaining two out of the way, easily disposing of them as she grabs the ends of the large door.
"Wrecker Rex, return!" He alerts him as she uses all her might to close the door.
Rex grabs onto two large doors in front of him with his stretched arms and uses them to slingshot himself to the door, and arrives just in the nick of time before Rusty closes the large door.
Knuckles, Nine, Rouge, and Ryder approach the duo.
"Uh... they're with us now?" Knuckles asks.
"Duh!" Nine responded.
"To be fair, they did just try to pummel us." Ryder defends Knuckles.
Rusty Rose punches and breaks a code system by the side of the door.
Sonic then appears, grabbing Knuckles, Nine, Rouge, Rusty Rose and Wrecker Rex together in a group hug. "We did it! Bring it in, fam!" They all complain at him and break free. Sonic's smile disappears. "Huh. Oh, yeah, the whole "Eggman messed up the universe thing." Okay." The laser comes towards him and the rest of the team; They duck to dodge it.
"Fine. Introductions. Hello, I'm Sonic, the high-speed hedgehog hero who's always saving the day'." He then gestures to Ryder. "The guy with the porcupine hair is the focused but fun Ryder, who is almost as fast as me I'd mention."
"Uhh, yeah... about that-" Ryder tries to explain his loss in speed but got interrupted when Sonic zipped to Nine
"And this wily little fox is the crusty but benign Tails..."
"Nine! It's Nine. The emphasis is on the Nine." Nine corrected him angrily.
"Technically, you can't put emphasis on a full name." Ryder tells Nine.
"Shut up Ryder!" Nine retorts.
Sonic just runs to Knuckles and Rouge and grabs their shoulders. "And these two slightly thuggish party crashers consist of the alluring and kick-butt international bat of mystery, Rouge..." The laser comes towards the three; They dodge."
"It's Rebel." Rebel said as she moved away from him.
"-And Knuckles." Sonic finishes his introduction of the duo but 'Knuckles' moves away.
"It's Knucks. And will someone please stop this laser?" He asks.
"On it." Ryder walks to the keyboard to try to shut down the laser.
Sonic turns to Rusty Rose. "And Amy is..."
Rusty interrupts. "I am a killing machine created by the Chaos Council to enforce their autocratic rule."
Sonic ignores everything she says. "Well, Amy's the sweetest friend you could ever ask for." The laser comes towards them until it suddenly gets shut down by Ryder.
"Got it!" Ryder announced.
"Thanks Ryder."
Wrecker Rex steps forward. "And I am known as Wrecker Rex, a cyborg created by the Chaos Council to be their main protector and warrior."
Rebel's eyes widened in shock. "Rex? Is that you?" She asked.
"I do not have any recollection of you; And my memory is flawless. You must have the wrong person." He turns away from her.
Sonic continues talking. "We're all best friends. But... no one remembers any of that. So, we're going to fix it, because we got the whole band back together." They are startled by a heavy pounding in the distance. They look to where the pounding's coming from, except for Nine, who runs towards the door in the opposite direction.
"This way, or you're finished." Nine said. He types in the security code for that door. The pounding door opens, revealing another swarm of Eggforcers, but at the same time, the laser cuts across and defeats all of them, to the council's dismay. Nine then aims his hacker gun at the security camera and it shuts down. Ryder then walks towards him.
"Hey, if you're a hacker do you have one of those things that shows your face on the screen saying a hacker catchphrase?" Ryder asks. Nine shrugs and shows him his phone and hacks it.
It shows a sprite of a laughing Nine fakely on the screen. "Ha ha ha ha. You've been hacked by Nine."
Ryder just blinks at it a few times before responding. "Really? That's the best you got?" Nine rolls his eyes and walks away with his metal tails. "You're no fun." He comments as he follows.
In slow motion, Sonic, Ryder and their newly-formed team walk in. with the team still in slow motion Ryder and Sonic speed left and right in the hall.
"Baddies this way." Sonic informs.
"Here too." Ryder adds, returning to the group. "They're coming from both sides."
Nine opens the door next to them and the team runs past it. Two of the Eggforcers collide with one another as they approach each other. Knucks notices shooting coming from behind. He turns and approaches a wall of downed Eggforcers, pulling off one's parts, before dropping it and running with the crew.
"Come on, gotta get out of here." Knucks said.
"Wait, stop. We shouldn't be trying to escape." Nine tells them.
"What are you talking about? There's robots after us." He stops as Nine jumps in-front of him.
"We get our hands on their energy crystal, we shut down their entire operation."
"And take back our world." Rebel realizes.
"That sounds great but how do we get to... wait, "Energy Crystal"?"
Sonic stops with a smile on his face before running to cut the argument between Nine and Knucks. "Hold-a-wait-a-what-a-sec. Did you say crystal? Is it a big crystal thingy? Shiny, reflect-y, prism-y?"
"Sure." Nine shrugs.
"The . Of course! That's how Eggman did all this. The changed city, the messed-up you guys. If I can get it, maybe I can change it all back. Rusty Amy, Wrecker Ryder, where's the prism?"
"Rusty Rose. Do not have clearance to the subsectors of the core." Rusty responds.
"Subsectors? I can make my own clearance."
"Won't taking out the power mean taking out Rusty and Rex too?" Ryder asks.
"Who cares about these buckets of scrap? Let em have it." Knucks said, mercilessly.
"That's still Rex you moron." Rebel said, mad at Knucks for forgetting their friend who looks down in regret.
"Negative. Our power do not stem from the energy crystal. We each have our own power sources within our chests. Our lives will be unharmed." Rex assured them.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Ryder asks rhetorically, ready to bash some bots.
Blasters fire at them, causing them to duck and brace themselves. They look back to see another two swarms of Eggforcers approach them, the latter breaking another door open in the process. The team leaned onto the wall for cover.
"In case of emergency, always use the stairs." The team, dodging weapon-fire, come with Sonic and Ryder, and escape to the top of the stairway, with the former continuing to shoot away.
"Come on, team. Together, we're gonna fix the world."
"Let's go!" Ryder said as the Hedgehogs spin dash down the middle of the long staircase, followed by a dive, with the rest of the team following him. Eggforcers emerge from one of the doors and see them falling down. The falling members appear on the Council's monitor.
Sonic spins in mid-air and waits in boredom, until he is grabbed in the body by a hand, level with where the Eggforcers are marching down the staircase. Sonic is then slammed into the wall and falls to the floor.
"Prepare to be amazed, then deceased, by the one and only Dr. Deep." Dr. Deep, clad in robotic samurai armor poses as Look-alike Eggforcers drop in beside him ready for combat.
Sonic ducks and braces himself from a laser attack. "Okay, actually cool." He admits.
The rest of Sonic's team are falling behind Dr. Deep. Nine grapples back up, followed by Rebel who flies. Knucks defeats an Eggforcer to the left while Ryder dashes at one from the right.
Rusty and Rex use their extended arms to latch onto the edges of the staircase. Using their upwards momentum, they punch and take on Dr. Deep's Eggforcers. After dodging an attack, Rust uses a combo of punches to weaken hers. Rebel dives into the other Eggforcer while Rex distracts it and tosses it afterwards into a group of Eggforcers walking down the steps. As soon as the white robot recovers, Rex kicks it and continues the battle.
Meanwhile, Ryder spin-dashes up the stairs, destroying every Eggforcer in his path. He then sees Sonic up ahead between the katanas of Dr. Deep. Nine grapples and pulls an Eggforcer behind Dr. Deep, but is grabbed by another Eggforcer. With Dr. Deep distracted, Ryder hits him from behind with a spin attack, does a hand-stand on his back, and somersaults onto the Eggforcer grabbing Nine.
With Sonic free, he launches a Homing Attack on Dr. Deep with a direct hit and delivers the final few blows. Dr. Deep is sent flying, colliding with his own ally robots.
Sonic returns to his two friends. "Thanks for save you two. High five!" He pulls up Nine and Ryder's hands and high fives them, leaving the former confused as he continues holding his hand up and looking at it.
""High... five"?" Nine looks at it with a smile.
"Haven't done that in a while huh?" Ryder comments.
"No... no I haven't." He looks to the battle-hardened Rex, who is fighting at the distance.
Suddenly, before they can talk more, the Eggforcers are charged with some sort of orange electricity, increasing their power. They then proceed to catch them by surprise and attack them, stronger than before, more than evening up the score.
"We're done for. They're too powerful, too fast." Knucks tells them, hopelessly.
""Too fast"? You need to learn to spin-dash, my friend." Sonic said.
"Spin-dash?"
"Watch and learn! Ryder?"
"Right." Ryder nods.
The Hedgehogs curl into spinning balls in front of his team-mates. They spin dash into and defeat multiple Eggforcers at high speed.
As Sonic returns to Knucks, Ryder goes to the unexpecting Rex, surprising him.
"Okay buddy, it's your turn. You see the bot over there?" Ryder points to the Eggforcer below them.
"Yes." Rex confirms.
"Okay, so this part is simple. You curl yourself into a ball and focus all your energy and might into a single homing attack. Ready? Spin!" He tosses Rex to the Eggforcer. Rex remembers to do everything his doppelganger mentioned, curled, and spin dashed into the Eggforcer, then proceeds to take down the group ahead.
Sonic, Ryder, Knucks, Rex, and soon Nine, proceed to wipe out the robots one by one. Lines of Blue, dark blue, yellow, gray and red auras appear from a bird's eye view at the middle of the staircase. They were soon able to defeat every Eggforcer on site, creating a large pile of robot bodies.
"What kind of budget are these guys working with?" Sonic comments jokingly.
Knucks dives into the robot scrap and starts digging.
"We're at the sub level. Where's the exit?" Just after Nine asked, a thud sound appears.
"Found it!" Knucks tells them.
"That was awesome! Good work, team. Let's go." Sonic leads the team through the long hallway, but Tails, struggling to catch up, notices a glow on Ryder and Sonic's shoes as they pass a left turn.
"Your shoes. Stop, it's that way." Nine stops them. The team gathers around.
"Well, how do you know?" Knucks asks Nine accusingly.
"They're connected to the prism energy, and thanks to my handiwork, their shoes are picking up on the energy's signature." He explains.
"He's right. It's like they're calling out to it. Look." He runs to the far side "Hot," He runs back to the group "Cold." He runs further to the far side, "Hotter," He runs back to the group "Colder," He runs even further to the far side. "Blazing hot."
"Uhh, Sonic? I hate to interrupt but-" Ryder is interrupted when a crash is heard.
Dr. Deep returns, with his swarm of white Eggforcers. "I'm going to origami that hedgehog! He points his sword forward. Find them!
His robots move on ahead. Nine is pointing in the right direction in urge. "Come on, let's go." The crew follow Nine. While the Eggforcers fly forward, Dr. Deep sees his enemies over on his left and stops.
"Huh?" Dr Deep observes the scenario. "They're headed for the core. They're headed for the core!" He shouts, jumping up and down. "Guys, guys, guys!" Dr. Deep is shunted to the wall repeatedly by a chain of Eggforcers making the turn, grunting and groaning. He is then shunted to the wall on the other side by another chain of Eggforcers making the turn from the opposite side, grunting and groaning.
Meanwhile Sonic's crew are under attack, but Nine sees and points at something ahead of him. "That's gotta be it." Along the long corridor is the security door.
"Seems like it. Grab on!" Ryder grabs on to Nine and speeds across the corridor.
"Shut it down! Shut it down! Close all corridors!" Mr. Dr. Eggman exclaimed through the microphones in the corricdors as the doors began to close in-front of them.
"They're shutting the doors! Hurry!" Nine tells them while still in Ryder's grasp. Afterwards, then reach past the last door and turn back to look at the others. Rusty Rose steps into the gap between the first door and blocks both sides, allowing the rest of the team to run past. Knucks lifts up a canister and wedges open the second door. After they all make it through, Rex punches the canister behind him, closing the door and hitting an Eggforcer before trapping the Eggforcers and Dr. Deep behind him.
The doors are then once again opened and a large swarm of Eggforcers walk through and continue shooting. The team hides in safe places.
"I guess dreams don't come true." Knucks said, feeling hopeless at the moment.
"It's not over yet, Knucks." Ryder said, disagreeing with him.
"Well, prove me wrong." Knucks lifts up another canister and tosses it in the air. In slow motion, it can be seen blocking blaster fire. Ryder sees this and seizes his chance, showing a determined look. With cannon-fire everywhere, he runs, slides underneath and jumps over it, twirling like a ballet dancer as he does so. He spins and jumps towards the canister. He propels and rides it forward with his legs, intercepting blaster-fire along the way. More and more burn marks appear on the canister as he continues to drive it forwards. With the Eggforcers approaching them, Ryder dashes the canister into the group of Eggforcers, sending them all flying in a heap backwards. The heap hurtles towards the unknowing Dr. Deep, slamming into him, and the canister explodes a hole in Yoke HQ, sending him out along with his Eggforcers and falling from a great height. The residents watch the falling robots crash down to the ground.
"Look, it's one of the Blue Hedgehogs." One of the denizens points to Ryder, standing on top of a pile of robot scrap. He nods at them and turns back along the corridor, only to be confronted by 's robot and more Eggforcers. Dr. Babble babbles angrily and slams on his controls. Ryder stops as soon as he sees it.
Ryder groans. "Seriously? Can't I go one minute without being attacked by robots?"
A small swarm of Eggforcers confront the rest of the team.
"Nine, you crack the door open yet?" Ryder asks the busy Nine, who tinkers with the security door's code.
"I need more time." Nine responds, still typing.
"On it. Hey Jimbo the baby?! You want me? Come and get me." He taunts Dr. Babble.
As Ryder runs away, he and his Eggforcers go after him. The baby babbles angrily and chases Ryder towards the open hole. Ryder dives through the hole and falls down. Dr. Babble instructs the Eggforcers to dive down and go after Ryder. Ryder lands and slides down a long ramp, skateboard style before sprinting once again. He continues to run away from the Eggforcers. He jumps just before the tunnel, luring one Eggforcer to crash into the wall. He jumps over a hand attack from another Eggforcer. Though he has lost over half of his speed, he is still skilled enough to evade blasts from robots.
As soon as Ryder reaches the cylindrical tunnel, he jumps onto the cylinder and spins dashes around it, breaking more chasing Eggforcers. He jumps over an obstacle, and then as the rail starts to go uphill he runs through, flips and dashes at four of the Eggforcers, and lands onto a train heading opposite. The remaining robots stop. Dr. Babble blabbers his robots to charge in the opposite direction. Little did they know, it was all a part of his trap, for he had returned and started running towards them, dashes at them around the rail and knocking a few Eggforcers along with Dr. Babble's mech suit, sending him to a spin, followed by a furious scream.
He uses his right arm to fire blasters at Ryder, which he dodges, as more Eggforcers arrive behind him to back him up. The suit presses the yellow corner button and brings back the baby rattle.Ryder manages to dodge his rattle attack, but is then punched with the left fist, sending him somersaulting in mid-air and screaming. Luckily, he lands back on the rail and carries on running. He sees Dr. Babble's robot on the other side. He dodges a standing fist attack. With Dr. Babble chasing him, the baby retracts his weapon. Ryder then goes to his maximum speed. A loop later, Ryder is then running behind the robots that were chasing him.
"Too easy." Ryder smirks as he does a single homing attack through each Eggforcer's chest, causing them all to fall and break in a heap onto the road. He tags Dr. Babble's robot, but he holds on to the rail and gets back up. Dr. Babble screams as they both charge at each other. Ryder does three Homing Attacks to knock off Dr Babble, crashing it onto the heap of Eggforcers. Ryder land back on the rail, watching the baby cry and thrash about in a tantrum.
Ryder rolls his eyes. "Ugh, if I have to hear that baby cry anymore, I'm gonna go crazy."
He then hears a distant rumble from the Yoke. "Uh oh." He sprints through the rail on a course back to the battleground, and on the way runs by Denizen 1998 AKA Big and his pal Froggy. "I'll fix this Big and Froggy. I promise." He whispers as he runs up the building and through the hole and through the corridor.
At the end of the corridor, Nine clatters the keys on the security door. A beep sounds. "I got it, we're in." The security doors open up.
Sonic approaches him. "Nice job little buddy." He shakes his shoulder with pride.
"Yeah... thanks." Nine thanks him, feeling happy all the sudden of this show of friendship.
Ryder makes it through the gap in the door wedged open by a broken robot part, and meets the team.
"Ryder, we didn't think you'd make it back."
"Well, if you knew me, you'd know no robots can take out this Hedgehog." Ryder tells them.
Nine nods. "Come on, let's go." He tells the team as they walk to the door.
"Yeah, I thought you'd be flatter than a snake's belly." Knucks adds on Nine's comment earlier before he, Rebel and Rusty Rose are grabbed by a robot's hand, Ryder is the first to notice and turns back.
"What the heck!" Ryder exclaims before seeing a robotic mech-suit containing who he believed to be Eggman.
"Need a job done right, do it yourself. Step away from the core, or your friends are toast." He said. Suddenly the doors start closing in front of him. They completely shut as he nearly makes it to the doorway, leaving Ryder, Sonic, Nine, and Rex as the only ones still there. Sonic tries to push the doors back open, but Nine restrains him.
"Sonic, we have to get to the core!"
Sonic tries to restrain Nine. "No! I've got to help my friends."
"Go. You have to get to the Paradox Prism, or it'll all be for nothing."
"She's right. They won't be able to keep him at bay forever. The Chaos Council will be able to get to us in two minutes, at least by my estimation." Rex calculated.
"You heard them, Sonic. We gotta go!" Ryder grabs Sonic and pulls him to the main core, much to Sonic's frustration. "I want to help them too, but if we win, this'll all be over. That's what they wanted." Ryder lets go. He walks on alone, leaving Sonic frustrated. Sonic stays there and touches the door and looks at it miserably. Meanwhile, Ryder, Rex and Nine are running along the bridge prompting Sonic to come with him.
"Come on!" Nine said, still running. Sonic finally lets go of the door and walks away from it. He then notices something up ahead.
"Wait. Is that...?" Sonic runs and catches up to Nine. They approach the Shard Generator. Instead of seeing the Paradox Prism however, they see a large red shard. "It's not the Paradox Prism. It's way too tiny. The Prism was... was..."
"Whole." Ryder finished for him.
"What?" Sonic turns to him confused.
"When you hit the Paradox Prism, you must've shattered it. This is just a piece of it." Ryder guesses.
Sonic thinks for a moment before widening his eyes in realization. "I remember now. I was too focused on winning. I didn't listen. I... They tried to warn me. All of them. All this time, I thought Eggman figured out how to harness the prism energy, and that's why everything's so whacked. But it's not that. Eggman didn't create this world... I did. I shattered the Paradox Prism. I broke... everything."
"Don't blame yourself Sonic. I failed too. I should've been able to teleport the Prism out with Chaos Control but... when I touched the Prism I saw things..." Ryder recalls his visions of pirate Knuckles, Jungle Amy... and the Tails who he had just realized was Nine all along. He didn't just see weird visions... he's seen some sort of future... including that mysterious Hedgehog. "Terrible things." He said with just as much sorrow as Sonic did.
"So, this is just one small shard of a bigger energy source? There's... more?" Nine looks
"Fascinating. With just a single piece the Council could power an entire city and an army of Eggforcers. Imagine what someone could do with power like that. They'd be unstoppable." Rex said, thinking about the great things that could be done with such a relic.
Suddenly, a heavy thud sounds surprising the group. The mech gets its hands wedged on the door, trying to open it. "You two have said a lot of weird stuff since I met you, and that's the weirdest. So, snap back to reality, grab that shard, and we'll sort the rest out later."
"No, you... he... The original you told me not to touch it." Sonic argues against it.
"Well, I'm telling you the opposite. Now, grab it and let's go!"
Rex looks back at the slowly opening door. "Whatever you plan to do, do it quickly. It's now or never." He said, as he pointed at the large mech peeping his face through the gap, threatening to open the door.
"Right, I broke it, but we can fix this. If there's anyone who's got the brains to put it all back together, it's you." Sonic said.
"That's the first thing you've said that I agree with." Nine smiles at the comment.
"Guys, I hate to ruin the nice moment, but can you hurry it up?!" Ryder stands battle-ready at Rex's side as Eggman gets closer and closer to getting in.
Sonic puts his hand close to the shard, nervously. Eventually, he touches it, with energy crackling in electric sparks. His hand is then attracted to the shard, generating copious levels of energy and causing Nine to panic.
"Sonic, what's happening?" Nine asks, scared due to the sudden change.
Ryder turns to see what's happening and sees Sonic being pulled in by the crystal. "Sonic!" He runs in and grabs Sonic's hand and tries to pull him out to no avail.
"Nine! Nine!" Sonic grunts and screams as the shard pulls his whole self in and by extension, pulls Ryder in with him.
"Sonic! Ryder!" The shard stops generating, with Nine looking solely at the shard in misery. "Sonic, Ryder, where are you? Sonic! Ryder! Sonic? Ryder? Sonic?"
