Nine's Lair, The Grim
Nine exits a portal and enters his base. "Sonic! The fool! This could have been everything he ever wanted."
Rory, who exits the portal, walks up to Nine and holds his shoulder. "Hey, relax. Sonic's too stuck in the past. But we can still make this world what we want. And who knows, maybe after a while, he'll decide he wants in. Just take a deep breath, and focus on the mission" He tells his friend.
Nine takes a deep breath. "You're right. We have the Shards and emeralds now." Nine begins climbing up a ladder, and makes it up to a machine which holds the Grim Shard. "And I know exactly where each one of them fits. Like the pieces of a puzzle." Nine uses his mechanical tails, which are holding all of the Shards one-by-one, and begins inserting them into the machine. He puts the Red, Green, and Blue Shards into the machine. "Last one." Nine inserts the last Shard, the Yellow Shard. All of the Shards glow and are put back together, forming the Paradox Prism. "The Paradox Prism. With this, I can transform the Grim..." Nine begins extracting energy from the Prism using his mechanical tails. "...and make it stable. Make it perfect!" Nine releases all of the energy he has connected from the Paradox Prism. The camera cuts to the outside of The Grim, which can be shown that Nine is building his new home. Soon, his new home is completed. It resembles a castle. Nine flies out from the top of his home and gathers more energy from the Prism to make a dome over his home. Nine looks around and smiles, proud of what he has created.
"Nice work." Nine hears his friend Rory congratulate him as he lands on the top platform. "Now for my side of the plan." Rory then makes a wide stance and energy from the Prism is channeled into himself. He then presents an aura similar to the aura used to destroy the Titan last chapter. He opens his eyes and shows his rainbow eyes.
Rory then jumps down and raises his hands. The Chaos Emeralds then fly out of his newly acquired/stolen satchel and a beam comes out of his palms. The energy expelled reaches a stack of crystals and it transforms them into a circular, metallic core with seven equidistant slots, each glowing with the color of the corresponding Chaos Emerald inside. The metal has a black and silver finish with red energy veins pulsing through it. He then makes the emeralds float inside of it.
He then walked to the side and activated the machine. He stepped in front of it and was hit by a Chaos beam, infused with great energy. This power combined with the Shard Energy inside of him flooded his body. He glowed and he became a flash of energy. When the flash dissipated, it seemed like he disappeared.
Nine flew down and looked for him. "Rory? Are you okay?" He called out.
Suddenly, flashes of lightning moved around the room at rapid speeds. Rory then appeared in front of Nine
"I'm better than okay." Rory replied with a deep tone.
Nine looked in amazement. His friend had more than enough power to make their dream a reality.
Meanwhile, the four other Gateways leading to the other Shatter Spaces appear to be destabilizing as rainbow-like effects are seen on the edges of the Gateways. Rumbling can also be heard as well. The Gateway leading to Ghost Hill, in particular, is beginning to slowly fall apart.
Ghost Hill
Everything in Ghost Hill begins to decay and even float away. The scene cuts to a far shot of the top of Temple Mountain, where Shadow can be seen looking around at what is going on. The scene then cuts to the inside of Temple Mountain, and it shows Sonic walking up to where the Prism was.
"Any chance at bringing Green Hill back is gone. Ryder's gone. How could Nine betray us?" Sonic said, upset.
"It's destabilizing." Shadow rushes over to Sonic. "Sonic, I told you Nine couldn't be trusted. Whatever he's up to, it's causing this world to fracture. Where's Ryder."
"Ryder? Rory, he... I don't understand. Why would he--?"
"Pull yourself together! This mountain is decaying, and it's going to take us with it. We have to run!" Shadow grabs Sonic's hand and Sonic runs together with Shadow out of the mountain. They begin to make their way down to the mountain, but it quickly begins to decay. Shadow looks behind him and notices it decaying. He pushes Sonic. "Jump!"
[Both Sonic and Shadow jump off the mountain. Shadow lands on the ground safely, but Sonic lands face-first. He gives Shadow a quick thumbs-up to thank him, until he hears the rumbling coming from the mountain as even the atmosphere begins to shake. He looks at the now-decaying mountain.
"Whoa." Sonic said, shocked.
"We need to leave this world." Shadow told him.
"You don't have to tell me twice." Sonic agreed as he and Shadow run off.
[Scene: Yoke HQ, inside]
"I told you we couldn't trust that fox! I knew he'd steal the Shards the first chance he got!" Eggman argued.
"Well, you said nothing of the sort. You're just trying to cover your tracks, like you try to cover your head with that silly toupee!" Dr Done-it retorted.
"Trying and failing." Dr. Don't remarked.
"Gentlemen, forget the fox." Dr. Deep places Dr. Babble back into his seat. "Look around." Dr. Deep motions to the window, which shows Ghost Hill decaying. "This world draws its last breath."
"And so will we, if we don't get out of here!" Dr. Done-it yells.
"Agree, but without the Shards, our energy supply is low. We barely have enough to portal back to New Yoke!" Eggman tells them.
Dr. Babble babbles in anger.
"Agreed. We have our own supply back home. Set a course for New Yoke, post haste!" Dr. Deep said.
The Council opened up a portal leading to New Yoke City and made their way through the portal.
Later, Sonic and Shadow are running together to make their way out of Ghost Hill.
"If we can gain enough speed, we should be able to teleport out. To higher ground." Shadow orders. Sonic and Shadow jump off two walls, and Shadow grabs Sonic's hand once more, flinging him onto one of the bridges in Ghost Hill. Shadow spin-dashes onto the bridge and continues running together with Sonic, but as they are running, the bridge begins to decay underneath them. "Faster!" Both of the hedgehogs begin to pick up their pace, with Sonic even performing his to go faster. Before they make it to the end of the bridge, though, they are flung off the bridge and land on the ground. Shadow gets up and coughs, then he looks to Sonic. Sonic is looking at the Ghost Hill versions of his friends.
"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman."
"I don't need the details, just tell me who to smash."
"The forest is the most beautiful place on Earth.
"I thought we went over this. They're not real." Shadow said.
"Maybe I can save them." Sonic wonders. Shadow tries reaching his hand out to comfort Sonic, but stops as soon as Sonic turns to him. "I have to try. Ryder would want that." He begins to walk up to the Ghost Hill versions of his friends, but Shadow stops him.
"No! Ryder wouldn't want you wasting your time like this. They can't be saved. Think about your real friends, the ones who still have a chance. If you want to help them, we need to get out of here."
Sonic puts his hand on Shadow and pushes him to the side. Sonic begins to watch as the Ghost Hill versions of his friends begin to float away.
"Tails... I'll see you again, little buddy." Sonic turns away with a sad look on his face, before abruptly becoming serious as he faces Shadow. "Let's get out of here." Both of the hedgehogs begin to run together, making their way out of Ghost Hill with everything they have. They pass all sorts of objects as they make their way out, such as the palm trees, rocks, and more. Shadow gives Sonic a boost again to fling him onto another bridge and Shadow follows behind. However, like how it happened before, the bridge begins to decay as they run along it. "We're never gonna hit speed. How are we gonna get out of here?"
Shadow looks up, and notices a portal in the sky leading to the Shatterverse. "That's our exit."
"Right. We need to get vertical!" Sonic realized,
"Jump!" Sonic and Shadow jump on multiple rocks and as they get closer to the exit, they look at each other before taking one last giant leap and spindash onto a few more rocks before they aim directly for the exit. They make it out of Ghost Hill just in time and land safely on a rock. Soon, the Gateway to Ghost Hill explodes. Another rock is sent flying towards the one that Sonic and Shadow are standing on, and they are flown off the rock. They scream, but manage to grab hold of another rock.
"Hang on!" Sonic yelled.
As they both hang onto the rock, Shadow's right hand slips off the rock, but he is luckily still grabbing on with his left one. He grabs on again. Soon, the rock they were hanging onto bumps into another rock, and they land on the rock that they bumped into. They climb up to the top of the rock.
"It's gone." Sonic hopelessly said. Both of the hedgehogs get up and look at what happened to Ghost Hill's Gateway. "If this can happen to the Ghost Hill, it can happen to the other Shatterspaces."
"Nine and Rory betrayed you, killed Ryder and left us to die, and they will pay for it." Shadow tightens his fist. He wouldn't call anyone in Green Hill his friends, but he respected Ryder. Knowing Nine and Rory are responsible for his death makes him very angry. Sonic looks at Shadow with a serious look.
Nine's Lair, The Grim
Nine activates his mechanical tails and grabs some of the parts on the inside of his home. He extracts energy from the Paradox Prism using his mechanical tails and tries creating something, but the first try goes wrong."No!"
The golden aura'd Rory walks up. "Don't use up too much energy. Let me try." He raises his hand to the parts and they glow with his energy. They shine with the power given to them and transform. When the light dissipates, Rory realizes he has finally made his first creation, a new version of Chaos Sonic, Alpha Grim Sonic. He and Rory are surprised, but they both smile at what he has created.
"Hello, Friend." Nine said, but then the atmosphere began to shake. "What's going on?" They both jumped down to the main floor. "I must have diverted too much energy from the force field?"
"No. You didn't put nearly enough power to cause the field to go unstable. I sense something else is afoot." Rory said. Due to his newly developed state, he is intune with Prismatic Energy, including the Shatterverse
"Huh?" Nine looks at the screen in his lair and notices that the Grim is starting to Decay. "The Grim is starting to Decay! No, no. This doesn't make sense." He flies up to where the Paradox Prism is again. "I collected all the Shards. I aligned them perfectly."
Rory groans as he floats up. "The Council. The rifts they created made a ripple in the Shatterverse. It's causing it to decay. Left unchecked, it'll collapse the barrier and everything in it, including us."
"Can't we just use the Prism to fix all this?" Nine asked.
"Normally we should have more than enough power, but there's something wrong. It looks like there are...gaps." Rory replied. His eyes are seeing differently than before. They see within the Prism and see gaps inside of it. As if there are pieces lost. "Looks like even though we have all the pieces, there are still a few gaps in the power. It isn't fully restored yet."
"How many?"
"Six from the looks of it."
Nine lets out a frustrated grunt. "What are we missing?!"
Flashback
A flashback is shown of when the Chaos Council put tests on Ryder and Sonic to determine how powerful they are with their speed. In the flashback. "I knew it. He's got the same energy that powers the city."
Flashback ends
"Sonic. He must have one of the pieces. Ryder must've too. But what about the rest?"
"My doppelgangers once had them, but when they were sent to their worlds, they discarded them, and they were divided between me and Ryder." Rory places his hand on his chest and makes it transparent, revealing 4 orbs of energy. "I must've snatched them from him when I absorbed Ryder's energy. Though one of them remained inside Ryder when he fell."
"How do we get that power back then?" Nine asks as Rory stops showing his energy.
"We'll just have to make dew with Sonic's energy.
The Void
Sonic can be seen sitting down on a rock, covering his face in frustration. He opens one eye and then takes his hands off his face. Shadow walks up to him. "Ghost Hill is gone, the Shards are gone... Ryder's gone. We lost."
"If knowing you has taught me anything, there's always another way." Shadow said.
Sonic looks at Shadow. "Wait, was that a compliment?"
Shadow gives Sonic an unamused look. "Nine is out there... hiding in one of the Shatterspaces."
"Hmm... The Grim! Of course!" Sonic jumps up. "There's another gateway and a fifth Shard."
"That explains why he wasn't able to rebuild the Prism." A rock flies towards Sonic and Shadow, but they manage to dodge.
"Whoa!" Sonic yelps.
"Can you remember where the gateway is?" Shadow asks.
"Of course. Nine brought me and Ryder there in his Shattercraft." He moves to the left. "It's, uh, this way. Wait. No, no." He moves to the right. "Uh, right. It's totally this way. Come on!"
Sonic flies off and Shadow follows after him, making their way to the Gateway that leads to The Grim. As they get closer to the Gateway, Sonic lands on a rock, and Shadow notices that there is another rock flying towards him. Shadow flies up and grabs Sonic. "Watch out!" Shadow lands Sonic safely onto another rock.
"Phew! Thanks, buddy!" Sonic nudges Shadow.
"Don't get used to it."
"I wouldn't dream of it."
They make it to the Gateway leading to The Grim.
"We're here. The Grim." Sonic tells him.
"I can't pass through Gateways." Shadow pointed out.
Sonic looks up and notices there's a small gap in the Gateway. "There's always another way!" Sonic makes his way for the gap and Shadow follows after him. "Whoa-ho-ho!" They both make it into The Grim safely. "Whoa. So that's what they're doing with all the Energy." Sonic and Shadow walk towards Nine's home, until Rory and Nine emerge from the platform at the top of his home. They look down at them both.
"That's far enough Sonic." Rory said.
"Rory? What happened to you?" Sonic asked, noting the appearance.
"I have achieved my evolution, and I am going to change this world forever. It took a lot of time, but clearly, it was all worth it." Rory said.
"What about Ryder?" Shadow growled. "Was killing him worth it?"
"The way I see it, he was already dead. He was an anomaly and was meant to be a ghost. Besides, he wanted to see his friends, so I brought him right to them." Rory said heartlessly, causing both Hedgehogs to glare at them, before Sonic turned to Nine.
"Nine, what are you doing? We had a plan!"
"That was your plan. It was never mine." Nine replied.
"So it was always about power." Shadow said.
"No, that's not--"
"Pretty much, yeah!" Rory interrupts Sonic to bring the honest truth.
"With the Paradox Prism, we'll be able to turn this world into a paradise... our paradise!" Nine extracts energy from the Paradox Prism and uses it to form a dome.
"Let's destroy these traitors." Shadow suggested.
"Wait. Maybe I can reason with them." Sonic offered.
"Reason with him?" Shadow was shocked and livid.
"Look, you weren't there, but according to Rory, he's basically a clone of Ryder. He'll listen. Just let me try. If that doesn't work--"
"Then they're mine."
"No. They're ours." Sonic walks off and begins to confront the two. "This isn't you. We're friends. Rory, don't you remember all those chili dogs we had at that loop de loop together? We can still figure out how to bring back Green Hill and stabilize the Shatterspaces. Together!"
"You were only using me to get what you wanted!" Nine replied.
"That's not true." Sonic argued.
Rory scoffs. "Clearly it was. And even after all that we said, you're still stuck in the past. You just want Green Hill back. You won't focus on the future. You brought this upon yourself."
Nine slightly smiles. "Sorry, old friend! You've been replaced."
Nine walks off. Grim Sonic and another figure appears, looking at both Sonic and Shadow.
The second one is a metallic hedgehog with spiky hair. His name is Chaos Ryder.
"Whoa. Who, or what, are those?" Sonic asked.
"It's you. And I think it's Ryder."
"Yeah, but if you squint and tilt your head to the side, mine's also kind of you."
"Whatever they are, they're in our way."
"Not for long."
"Oh but I am more than just a copy of Ryder. I am everything Ryder was and will be. I am Chaos Ryder." Chaos Ryder creeped towards them.
"Chaos Ryder? Like Chaos Sonic?" Sonic tilted his head.
"If I was anything like Chaos Sonic, I would self-terminate." Sonic shrugged at his response.
"We're not dumb enough to make it a 1 on 2 match. Let's see how you do against this!" Rory calls out.
The robots jump off the platform and go for the two hedgehogs down below. They run up to them and flings them up into the air. The robot stops. Soon, Sonic and Shadow manage to make a safe landing.
Sonic remembers the battle back in New Yoke City. "Again? I already beat you in New Yoke, remember?"
Grim Sonic glares at him, but Sonic smirks, ready for another round. He immediately charges, speeding towards the robot. As Sonic approaches, Grim Sonic attempts a counterattack, but Sonic dodges it with ease, delivering a swift punch that sends Grim Sonic reeling back.
"You'll have to do better than that." Sonic said.
Grim Sonic recovers quickly, swinging his arms to retaliate. Sonic, however, is too fast. He zips around the robot, landing a flurry of blows before jumping up and landing a powerful kick to Grim Sonic's chest, knocking the robot off its feet.
But Grim Sonic doesn't stay down for long. It rises back up, retaliating with a kick that sends Sonic flying backward. Sonic uses the momentum to flip back onto his feet, eyes narrowed and determined.
Sonic smirking remarks: "Not bad, but I'm just getting started."
Sonic dashes at Grim Sonic again, spinning through the air to land a barrage of punches. Grim Sonic blocks, but Sonic is relentless. He dodges a swing and grabs the robot's hands, using them to spin himself around before delivering a headbutt that sends Grim Sonic stumbling back.
Sonic doesn't stop. He charges in, throwing punch after punch, until Grim Sonic attempts a kick. Sonic dodges and counters with a series of rapid strikes. As Grim Sonic swings again, Sonic grabs its arm and delivers a spinning kick to its side, sending it flying across the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Shadow is engaged in his own battle, facing off with a robot named Chaos Ryder. The two clash with devastating force, with Shadow dodging Ryder's attacks and retaliating with his own powerful punches. Chaos Ryder tries to launch a laser blast, but Shadow narrowly avoids it and lands a quick punch to the robot's core, causing it to stagger. Chaos Ryder, a towering robot with sleek armor and glowing red eyes, charges at Shadow with impressive speed, launching a barrage of missiles.
Shadow leaps into the air, dodging the missiles with expert precision. He lands on a nearby rooftop, his eyes fixed on his opponent. Chaos Ryder's eyes lock onto him, and with a loud mechanical roar, it charges, its metal feet pounding against the ground with each step. Shadow grits his teeth, bracing for the inevitable clash.
Chaos Ryder lunges at Shadow, aiming to strike with its powerful, armored fists. Shadow narrowly avoids the first punch, sliding to the side just in time. He counterattacks with a spinning kick, aiming for the robot's chest, but Chaos Ryder blocks it and counters with a devastating elbow to Shadow's midsection. Shadow grunts but rolls back onto his feet, his eyes now glowing with intense focus.
With a growl, Shadow disappears in a flash of purple, his Chaos Control kicking in. He reappears behind Chaos Ryder, landing a hard kick to the back of the robot's head. Chaos Ryder stumbles but quickly rights itself, retaliating by attempting a sweeping kick that Shadow barely evades. The ground shakes with the force of the impact as the robot tries to catch him.
Not backing down, Shadow dashes forward, using his own speed to keep up with the massive robot. He ducks under a punch and follows up with a roundhouse kick to Chaos Ryder's side, sending the robot stumbling. However, Chaos Ryder retaliates by extending blades from its arms, slashing at Shadow with a ferocious swipe. Shadow ducks and rolls out of the way, narrowly avoiding the sharp edge.
Shadow, now in full combat mode, summons his Chaos Spear, a surge of purple energy charging through his fists. He throws the energy spear toward Chaos Ryder, hitting the robot in the shoulder and causing a massive explosion that sends sparks flying in all directions. Chaos Ryder stumbles, its systems flickering as it attempts to recover. Shadow charges in again, his eyes narrowed, and lands a series of rapid punches to the robot's torso, each blow shaking the mechanical beast.
Chaos Ryder, now weakened but not beaten, attempts one final assault. The robot gathers its remaining strength and lunges at Shadow with a powerful charge, aiming to crush him under its bulk. But Shadow, using his superior speed, disappears once again, reappearing behind the robot. He kicks Chaos Ryder hard in the back, sending it crashing to the ground with a thunderous impact.
The robot groans, its systems overloaded from the intense assault. With a final, mechanical whir, Chaos Ryder's legs buckle, and it collapses to the ground, unable to rise again. Shadow watches as the robot's body powers down, its once-bright red eyes dimming.
Shadow, breathing heavily, stands before his opponent. "It's over, Ryder."
Back with Sonic, Grim Sonic tries to stand once again, but Sonic is already in motion, speeding toward the robot. With a final burst of energy, Sonic spins around and lands a brutal combo of kicks, sending Grim Sonic spiraling through the air. The robot crashes into the ground, struggling to get back up.
Sonic takes a deep breath, shaking off the exhaustion, and prepares for his last move. He charges up a spin attack and flies into the air, slamming into Grim Sonic with all his might. The robot finally collapses, unable to continue fighting.
"It's over, Nine." He looks over to where Nine and Rory are standing, waiting to see the outcome.
"I'll decide when it's over." Sonic smirks, realizing Nine isn't done yet, but for now, the battle is his victory.
Nine raises his arms in the air and closes his eyes. Four other robots emerge from Nine's home, and they all head down to the ground. squawks and flies down, while also makes her entrance by flying down too. appears, performing many techniques with her hammer and jumps down, standing in front of the other three robots. They all stand together, looking at Sonic and Shadow.
"Rouge? Knux? Amy? What have you done to my friends?!" Sonic yells.
"Oh, they're my friends now. Take them."
"Hey Ryder, time to wake up." At Rory's call, Chaos Ryder wakes up from his faked sleep, gets up and kicks Shadow back as he flips to his robotic brethren.
Shadow groans. "Here we go again."
Both Sonic and Shadow and the robots charge for each other. Grim Rouge aims straight for Shadow with Chaos Ryder following, while Sonic dodges both Grim Knuckles and Grim Birdie. He stops, thinking he's safe, but Grim Amy appears with her hammer raised. Sonic runs off as Grim Amy's hammer hits the ground, and she charges for him again. Next, Grim Birdie also charges for him, and he jumps on top of the bird. He laughs and waves to it from above as it looks around, wondering where Sonic has gone. Sonic jumps off the robot bird and runs off, while Grim Amy jumps onto it and it flies towards Sonic.
As Shadow continues battling Grim Rouge, she spins him around and flings him off her. She tries charging for him again, but Shadow runs off. Chaos Ryder followed from aside and spindashed him off the wall he was skating on.
Grim Amy goes to attack Sonic again, but he dodges her once more. She begins rapidly swinging her hammer around and Sonic stands on top of the hammer, trying to maintain his balance, but gets sent flying.
"Woah!" Sonic yelps.
Grim Birdie tries firing a laser at Sonic, but Sonic just barely misses. Now, Grim Knuckles is trying to attack Sonic, and Sonic spin attacks Grim Knuckles into Grim Birdie. Shadow appears again.
Sonic and Shadow point to each other. "Behind you!" Shadow grabs hold of Grim Rouge and flings her to Chaos Ryder. They separate and Grim Rouge tries to fly away but Shadow stands on top of her as she flies through the air. He does his best to stay on the robot, and covers the robot's eyes so it can't see where it is going. However, the robot begins to lose control, and Shadow flies the robot towards Grim Amy, who is attacking Sonic again. Shadow crashes Grim Rouge into Grim Amy and sends both of the robots flying. However, Alpha Grim Sonic rectivates, wipes some dust off its shoulder before it runs towards Sonic and Shadow, but they manage to fling it away.
Chaos Ryder rushes to Shadow and they find themselves in an arm wrestle.
"Go for the Prism." Shadow tells Sonic as he struggles with the robot.
"And leave you alone with them?"
"I'll be fine! Go!"
Sonic goes to get the Shards while Shadow continues to attack the robots alone. Grim Birdie fires lasers at Sonic, but he manages to deactivate the robot. He continues to make his way for the Shards.
"Typical Sonic. So quick to rush into things when you have no idea what you're up against." Rory said with his arms crossed.
"Let's show him." Nine raises some parts of his home up using his mechanical tails and aims them at Sonic. Sonic spin-dashes up the wall of Nine's home, heading for the Shards.
"Hmph. Good reflexes. How's this for size?" Rory crouches down and spin-dashes in place before launching himself directly at Sonic and on impact a large wave of energy exited his body and Sonic heads straight for the ground. Shadow notices Sonic.
"Sonic!" He heads in the direction where Sonic is. Sonic crashes onto the ground and Shadow appears to protect him. Soon, Sonic gets up as they are surrounded by the robots. Nine flies down.
"Impressive, isn't it? With the power of the Prism and Chaos Emeralds, there's nothing we can't do."
"Is this what you want, to spend the rest of your lives with robots for friends?"
"At least we can trust them!" Nine outbursts.
"Besides, I think we've proven robots can have personalities. Isn't that right Chaos Ryder?" Rory turns to his creation.
"You're gosh darn right boss." Chaos Ryder smirked at the Hedgehogs.
"Look around you! The Grim is starting to decay." Sonic points out.
"You're right, it is. But once we finish the Paradox Prism, we'll have all the power we need to fix everything."
"Wait, you haven't rebuilt the Prism yet?"
"Oh, we've rebuilt it. But it turns out there's some Prism Energy missing." Rory reveals.
Sonic is confused by what Rory means. He begins to think, while Shadow looks at Sonic. Nine looks furiously at Sonic, and Shadow realizes what Nine and Rory are planning to do. Nine flies back up to the platform at the top of his home. "Sonic, you have to get out of here!"
"What?" Sonic asked, confused.
Shadow pushes Sonic away as Alpha Grim Sonic tries to attack Sonic. "It's you. He's after your Energy."
Sonic and Shadow run off to avoid both Alpha Grim Sonic and Grim Knuckles trying to attack them both. Grim Knuckles goes to battle Shadow, but he defeats the robot. He looks behind himself and sees Sonic being attacked by the robots. He gets serious and begins to spin-dash around Sonic, forming a Tornado to lift him up in the air and carry him away.
"You have to go! Now!" Shadow told him.
"Wait! What are you doing?" Sonic asks, freaked out.
"What? Shadow thinks he can take Sonic away from us? Heh. Not a chance." Nine extracts energy from the Paradox Prism using his mechanical tails. "Ah!" Nine creates a chasm on the ground's surface to stop Shadow from sending Sonic away.
As Sonic is being carried in the Tornado, Shadow grabs Sonic's foot. "This is for your own good!" Shadow throws Sonic into the air towards a portal in the sky leading to the Shatterverse and the Tornado disappears.
"Shadow!" Sonic yells.
" No!" Nine and Rory furiously yell as Sonic enters back into the Shatterverse.
"Chaos Ryder, Grim Birdie, get back here immediately. I have a mission for you."
Chaos Ryder and Grim Birdie reach them, and he creates two clones of Grim Birdie to help give the robot extra assistance.
"You're on retrieval. Get Sonic back here alive. We need his energy." Rory orders.
"Gotcha." Chaos Ryder jumps onto Alpha Grim Birdie. "Wow, it's like I got my own robo strike force." Chaos Ryder chuckled. He saw a lack of humor in both of his creator's eyes and sheepishly retracted to Birdie.
Meanwhile, with Shadow, he continues to battle the robots. He fights off Alpha Grim Sonic, Grim Knuckles, and Grim Rouge. Suddenly, Grim Amy behinds him and holds him hostage using her hammer. Grim Knuckles punches Shadow. The Grim Birdies scream and they all head for the portal leading to the Shatterverse with Chaos Ryder.
"Now to deal with you." Nine said to Shadow from the tower.
Shadow breaks free of Grim Amy's grasp, takes her hammer and hits her with it. However, Grim Knuckles attacks Shadow again, causing him to land onto the ground. He gets back up breathing heavily. "Is that all you've got?" Alpha Grim Sonic charges straight for Shadow and punches him, sending him flying into the chasm that Nine created to try and prevent Shadow from letting Sonic get away. Alpha Grim Sonic, Grim Amy, Grim Knuckles, and Grim Rouge all look down into the chasm.
