New Yoke City
The two robots step out, approaching four Resistance members. "Hands up, furbag!" Robot Sonic shouted. The robot and Rex charge Sonic and Ryder, punching them into a wall.
The other two Resistance members jump back, startled.
"Is that a... knockoff me?" Sonic asked, surprised.
The robot grabs Sonic. "'Knockoff'?! That stings!" Chaos Sonic exclaimed, winking and tapping his metallic head. "From my titanium-reinforced noggin to my industrial-grade tookus!" Chaos Sonic throws Sonic into the ceiling. Sonic falls back, and as the other Resistance members move to attack, the robot kicks Sonic away and knocks them down in one fluid motion. Chaos Sonic winks, doing a handstand.
Meanwhile, Ryder is getting a similar fight from Rex. Rex grabbed him by the arm and threw him upwards, jumped as he rose, and kicked him aside. He then attempted to launch a spin-attack on Ryder, but he managed to dodge.
"Whoa!" Sonic exclaimed, balancing on the edge of a platform. He glanced at the robot.
"The name's Chaos Sonic," Chaos Sonic announced. "Like regular Sonic but with twice the charm," he winked, "and none of the FAILURE!"
"Failure? You've got the wrong hedgehog, pal!" Sonic retorted.
"Au contraire, blue-hair! I know a fox who might disagree." Chaos Sonic smirked.
Ryder skidded to a stop as he faced Rex. "What? Nine?"
"Another trap... I knew that fox would set us up!" Knucks muttered.
"That's a lie!" Sonic shouted.
"I wasn't programmed to lie," Chaos Sonic declared as he lunged, punching Sonic.
Suddenly, Eggforcers enter from the same door the two came from and begin blasting lasers at Knucks and Rebel, but they fight back using their own laser guns.
"Looks like your pal set us up!" Knucks uns outside, with Rebel following behind
"No!" Sonic puts his hand in front of his face, avoiding an attack from Chaos Sonic "Nine wouldn't do that!"
"And even if he was capable of that, he wouldn't do that to us." Ryder added, sliding to dodge and attack from Rex.
Ryder then sweeps Rex's leg, does a jump flip and attempts to perform a drop-kick, but Rex surprisingly stretches his arm and grabs Ryder's leg, before throwing him aside. Ryder was flailing for a second before catching himself and landing safely on the wall before launching himself in a spin-attack towards Rex, who he successfully hits.
"We've gotta get Nine out of there!" Sonic said, managing to get some space from his robot clone.
"Forget that two-timing punk! Get in, get the Shards, get out! That's it!" Knucks tells Sonic.
Sonic points at himself "Some of us are fast enough-" Chaos Sonic suddenly appears, giving Sonic a headbutt back. "Ow!" Sonic feels his head in pain, groaning. Chaos Sonic appears again and begins to try and punch Sonic, but Sonic is using his hands to protect himself. They begin to arm-wrestle.
"Wow, looking at you is like looking in a mirror!" Chaos Sonic said mockingly with a "sad" expression on his face "Only I'm all sad and pathetic!"
Ryder turns to Rex with a deadpan look as they are at a stand-off. "Was he supposed to be this annoying?"
Rex rolls his eyes. "Unfortunately, yes. I've only known him for a minute, and I already hate him more than anyone I've met."
"Aww, buddy, that breaks my metal heart." Chaos Sonic said sarcastically.
"You're gonna be sad in a minute!" Sonic said.
They both stop arm-wrestling, while Sonic gives Chaos Sonic another headbutt. Soon, Chaos Sonic turns around and pushes Sonic, while they both spin around on the ground, trying to dodge each other's attacks.
"Come on!"
Sonic kicks his feet up in the air, sending Chaos Sonic flying. The robot almost falls off the edge of the Yoke HQ, but manages to climb back up. He jumps in the air behind Sonic, and they begin to do another round of an arm-wrestle. This time, Chaos Sonic seems to be winning, and starts to push Sonic further to the edge of the Yoke HQ, hinting that the robot is giving the hedgehog his revenge.
"Ugh, I can't take it! You're just so tragic and smelly! Here, let me help."
Sonic groans, trying the hardest that he can to make Chaos Sonic let go. "Please... Stop talking...! Ah!" Sonic's legs begin to shake, then he falls off the edge of the Yoke HQ. Just as he thinks he is about to fall, Ryder grabs onto his hand.
"Gotcha!" Ryder then whips Sonic at Chaos Sonic and gets back to his fight against Rex
He proceeds to throw punch after punch but gets nowhere with his doppelganger. She then tries kicking but his leg gets caught. "Please don't break my leg."
"Hmm... nope." Rex then raises his elbow above Ryder's knee but then gets stopped by Sonic, who kicks him away and helps Ryder up after he falls.
"Now we're even." Sonic said.
Suddenly, they both get tackled by the robots and they keep falling until they land on garbage bins.
"Have I told you my three-step plan yet?" Sonic and Ryder lift themselves up out of the garbage bin, gasping for air. Suddenly, the garbage bin's lid closes, as Chaos Sonic is sitting on top of it. Sonic is left inside once more. "Oh, you're gonna love it."
Sonic: "Hey!"
Chaos Sonic crosses his legs. "Step one: Beat you both to a pulp. Obviously." He stands up, spreading his arms out. "Step two: Rebrand!"
Rex hovers near them with a deadpan look. "Seriously?"
"Ugh, this guy just won't stop talking." Sonic and Ryder spin-dash out of the garbage bin, sending Chaos Sonic and the bin's lid flying. Chaos Sonic, luckily, manages to land on his feet.
"You said it. Not me." Ryder agrees.
"First of all, stop talking! And second-"
Chaos Sonic grabs Sonic and throws him to the ground "Ah, ah, ah! You didn't hear my step three." He walks over to Sonic, putting his foot onto the hedgehog, pinning him back down to the ground. Sonic looks up at Chaos Sonic, but then looks down again in annoyance. "I diversify! T-shirts. Pop albums. A chili dog-flavored soft drink called 'Chaos Sonic's Chaos Tonic!'"
Ryder rolls his eyes in annoyance. "You know, my double was forced to be evil. Yours is not only born to be evil, but is just so annoying."
Rex huffed. "I hate you. So. Much." He whispered.
Chaos Sonic continues to berate. "What's the matter? Stage fright? Don't worry." Sonic looks up, and sees Knucks approaching. "The show's almost over, and you've had a good run, but it's time to take your final bow. Chaos Sonic gets into a bowing position, but gets knocked down to the ground by Knucks. Sonic is sent flying back.
"Aw, yeah!" Sonic cheers.
"Yes!" Rex and Ryder both celebrate, before looking at each other in confusion.
"I thought he was your teammate?"
"He was. But if I had to spend another second with him, I was gonna have to kill him myself."
"Fair enough."
"I think you're getting rusty, Blue. This guy ain't so tough." Knucks taps on Chaos Sonic, but suddenly, Chaos Sonic emerges from the ground, sending Knucks flying. Sonic looks angrily at Chaos Sonic.
"Two-on-one? Tsk-tsk. That's cheating." Chaos complains as he tightens his fist. "Guess I'll have to even the odds. Rexy, get in on this."
Rex is about to oblige but Ryder raises his hand. "Wait! If you don't help him, he won't be able to last, and he'll be destroyed.
Rex took a second to actually debate on it. "Deal. The guy's banter sucks anyways"
"Seriously?! Okay, how about this?!" Chaos Sonic runs up to Sonic, pulling a happy face and doing two peace signs at him. While Sonic is distracted, Chaos Sonic punches Sonic and sends him flying, knocking him out. Knucks gets back up, and begins to repeatedly try to punch Chaos Sonic, but dodges every single time. Chaos Sonic sits down on a nearby bench, tricking Knucks, but runs off again as Knucks prepares to attack him, breaking the bench.
"Stand still!" Knucks yells.
"Missed me, missed me, now here comes my fisty!" He punches Knucks, knocking him out.
"Ugh, he's tough. Maybe I can run down his battery. Hey, you want to be the new me?" Sonic challenges.
"I am the new you." Chaos Sonic retorts.
"Well, how about a race?" He gets into a crouching position as he prepares for an upcoming race between them both.
"Oh, I'd love a race!" He claps his hands together in delight. He goes right up to Sonic, preparing to race as well.
"See if you can keep up with the original."
They both begin to race.
Rex turns to Ryder. "Let's take this somewhere else as well. We don't want to cause any more damage now do we?"
Ryder shrugs. "Whatever you want. I'll take you on, anywhere. Doesn't mean a thing to me where you get pummeled." Ryder then flares up his Prism power.
They then Peel Out and run away. They run at miraculous speeds thanks to Ryder's Prism enhancements and Rex's mechanical features.
The two run for a few blocks before they start running up two opposing buildings only to jump at the last second and charge at each other with their fists balled, ready to punch.
The feedback from the punch set them back a bit. They crashed at the buildings they ran on, and started going down, but managed to regain their speed and run down again.
The two began running through the streets with conviction to take each other down. They passed some resistance fighters as they fought, and while to them it seemed like two red and blue blurs speeding passed them, to them it looked like they were engaging in an epic battle, stopping a few moments at a time to best one another.
The two then stopped running and glared at each other. "You can't beat me. You may be fast, but I've been training my speed for years." Ryder proclaimed.
"Assumption is the mother of all failures. It is only a matter of time before the council gets what they deserve." Rex retorted
"They don't deserve any of this. Not even you deserve what happened to you."
"I have been given purpose."
"You've been given lies, but right now I don't have time to snap you out of it. Face it, the Council will never get my power." He then charged a spin-dash at him, but then something very surprising happened.
Rex caught it.
Rex had the speeding ball that is Ryder in the palm of his hand, as if he was merely a baseball to be played with.
"Does it look like they need your power?" He said, but afterwards he began opening up a panel in his chest. "I will, however, make great use of it." He then slams Rex down and puts him in a chokehold on the ground. The panel then starts to show prism energy radiating off of it
Ryder struggles to take his hand off of his neck. "How?"
Rex smirks. "I usually don't enjoy monologues. It's a waste of time really, but I'll make an exception for you. Back in the No-Place I discovered something interesting. When you, me, and our doppelganger faced each other, energy started radiating off of you and into us. It didn't come from us, but it seemed like our bodies were more than capable of handling that kind of power. And I managed to keep it inside of me, and use it for this battle." He then lightens his grip slightly so that Ryder can speak. "Now tell me where to find the other Emeralds."
"Why would you even want it? The Council has enough, don't they?"
"For them, nothing is enough. And I am fine with that. Now you can tell me where the other emerald is, or I can force it out of you."
"I don't have the rest, but you'll never find them." Ryder bites back.
"Really? Because I know for a fact that four Emeralds are in this world. So it's easy to guess based on the amount of journeys you've taken that there is at least one per shatter space. You found the dark blue one in No-Place didn't you? And the other was in Boscage."
Rex was very perceptive. Ryder was starting to get annoyed. But then something he said caught him by surprise. "Wait, you said four. Where's the fourth one."
"Well... two of them are in your satchel, which I will be taking thank you." He then easily swipes it off of Ryder. "And according to my scanner, the third one is with our 4th counterpart. Rory was it, who is currently aboard the ship as we speak. I will tell the Council about him momentarily, but while I have you here, allow me to share the secret of the fourth." He then opens a second panel in his stomach, revealing the Red Chaos Emerald. "The Council did not even know what this was when they gave it to me. But after reading about the seven Emeralds, I immediately found out what powered my body."
This just annoyed Ryder even more. "Don't you get it, once they find out, they'll betray you, just like they did Rusty."
Rex's eye twitched at the mention of Rusty but pretended he didn't care. "Only when I have accomplished my mission."
"How's this for a mission?" Ryder then kicked Rex away and backflipped to gain some distance. "Time to take you to the scrap heap." He then charged at Rex and prepared a punch which Rex knew to block, but it was a feint, and he received a knee to the gut. Afterwards, Ryder launched a successful volley of attacks. Each one was enhanced by his Prismatic Energy. He then kicked Rex and made him roll across the street. Ryder then kicked him up to the sky only to join him and give him a pile driver to the ground.
Rex seemed like he wasn't going to last, but he had a plan.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this, but I had no choice but to take you down. I'll tell Nine I'm sorry later." Ryder then focuses as much energy as he feels is right into one hand. He throws the Prismatic punch right at him, but his hand is caught by Rex, who glares at him with rainbow eyes.
"Didn't I tell you?" The Prism energy in Ryder's hand dissipated quickly, scaring the poor hedgehog. "I have a use for your power. Thanks to the miniature energy extractor built into me."
"You can absorb my energy?"
"Not as much as I would like, but enough of it to terminate you." He then opens up the Energy Extractor and begins to siphon more energy.
Ryder feels helpless. Every second he loses more and more power. If he waits long enough, he could run out, and who knows what'll happen to him after that.
Suddenly, a beam appears out of the Yoke, surprising them both. A green portal opens up, revealing Boscage with a city similar to New Yoke sprouting from the ground. Then a second, blue portal opens up from the No-Place, and the same thing happens.
Rex grins and cackles. "They're taking over! Everything will soon be theirs."
Ryder tries and tries but gets nowhere in getting out of Rex's grasp. But then, when all hope seemed lost, he remembers the words of his Boscage Doppelganger: Ricky said to him: "One day, when the time is right, I hope you can figure out this move too. You just need to have inner focus in your motion, and link yourself to the motion of the world around you. Nature provides."
Sam takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and attempts to follow Ricky's advice. He felt the motion within his body, and the motion of the wind. He concentrated on the movements of everything around him. From the robot standing before him, to the tiny fly sitting on a lamp post nearby. He focussed on all of this while gathering large amounts of energy and sparking lightning out of him. He then opens his eyes with conviction and grabs Rex's hand while he's distracted to flip him over and escape his grasp. Ryder then kneeled while staring with conviction. He then ran towards him before flipping and initiated a spin. Energy started coming out of him and he managed to do it.

Yoke HQ
Back with Knucks and Rebel, they have finished taking down more Eggforcers. They both end up backing into each other accidentally.
"Finally. We're done here."
Three more Eggforcers appear.
"Oh, come on."
Both Knucks and Rebel begin to aim at the Eggforcers, but Rory shows up from the entrance, spin-dashing them all down to the street, where they blow up. He shows up to their assistance.
"Ryder?" Rebel asked.
"Nope. Close though. Name's Rory. I'm here for Nine."
Sonic then appears. "Sorry I'm late. Hey Rory. When did you get here?" Sonic waved and Rory shrugged.
"Where's your evil, slightly more annoying twin?"
Sonic points behind himself down to the ground. "He had a bus to catch." Sonic winks at Knucks and Rebel, making Rebel herself shocked. "Hey, where's Ryder? Shouldn't he be here by now?"
"He's busy with robot us. Don't worry, he'll be fine." Rory waves it off.
"What are we supposed to do about these?" Rebel points to the No Place portal. "That can't be good."
"We ain't going to be able to punch our way out of this one." Knucks points out. Sonic nods, agreeing with Knucks.
"The sooner we get the Shards, the sooner we can stop this."
"Great point, Rebel. Let's go!" Sonic charges towards a Jumbo Eggforcer, and spin attacks it. Knucks and Rebel fire at another Eggforcer, but then run out of ammo. They decide to follow behind Sonic.
Rory then bounces off the ground, flips over the Jumbo and spin-dashes through its hull head, and arm. "Bam! Bam! Thank you ma'am!"
"Go, go, go!" Sonic begins to run with Rory, Knucks and Rebel.
Rebel manages to gain ammo back on her laser gun, and fires at two Eggforcers. She throws the laser gun away, when suddenly...
"Hey, bro! Miss me?" ...Chaos Sonic shows up, immediately charging at Sonic. He pushes Sonic in the air, then Sonic lifts himself off Chaos Sonic.
"Now, where were we? Oh, yeah." Chaos Sonic and Sonic begin to fight again. "Ka-pow!" Chaos Sonic tries to do an air kick to Sonic, but the latter dodges. They try to arm-wrestle, but Chaos Sonic pushes Sonic to the ground. Sonic quickly spin-dashes, and looks behind him, seeing Chaos Sonic charging at him. They both spin on the ground again, trying to dodge each other's attacks, but Sonic lifts Chaos Sonic off himself. Sonic tries to do an air kick this time, but is unsuccessful. They both do another arm-wrestle. "Now this... is just fun." Chaos Sonic grabs onto Sonic and spins him around, then throws him to the ground.
Rory watches this fight and considers helping, but Nine is his priority at the moment. He then turns to the others. "Go help Sonic. I'll go find Nine. I'll meet you back here!" His voice fades as he starts sprinting to find the control room.

Ryder was having better luck against Rex. He started gaining the upper hand thanks to his newly found Sonic Spin. He never gave Rex a chance to think.
Rex was beginning to get frustrated. Every time he tried to stay still, he got hit with another tornado. He knew he couldn't take much more of this. A few more hits and he'll be torn to shreds. He needs to end this now.
He then activates his energy extractor at full power and immediately after he has sight of Ryder, he fires it. "ENOUGH!"
Ryder gets hit with a beam of prismatic light, not to harm him, but to absorb all the energy from his body. Ryder started to kneel from getting tired so quickly. "Gah!"
"It's over! I will use my power to protect my Council until my dying breath. Now just give up, and give me your energy!"
Ryder struggles, feeling very drained, but keeps enduring as he raises his knee off the ground. "You... should really give up..." He then slowly walks as he activates his Prismatic Aura.
"Heh. I told you I can take your power, remember you fool?" Rex cackles.
"...on making..." He then flares his aura even higher, fazing Rex. "...me give up!"
Rex's eyes widened. He knew those words. He just didn't know where. He then noticed Ryder getting closer to him. "What are you doing?"
"Technology lesson, what do you think happens if you transmit high amounts of energy into a device, more than it is designed to handle?"
Rex's eyes widened. He didn't even bother answering, knowing what was happening.
"That's right. Prepare to overload!" He then reaches out and grabs the head of his doppelganger.
"No! Let me go!" Rex tries to deactivate the device, but Ryder blocks that with his hand. "NOOOOOO!"
Too much energy floods through Rex's body. It becomes too much for his body to handle, especially the organic parts. His eyes begin to glitch as his body reaches his limit. His power then overloads and the aura stops. The two hedgehogs froze, until one fell to the ground...
Rex.
Ryder had won.
Ryder then weakly kneeled to grab Rex's Chaos Emerald. "I promise that I'm going to save you Rex. And then I'm going to take you back to Nine."
Ryder then had a small grin on his face before he then too collapsed, too drained to even move.

Mr. Dr. Eggman proceeds to do a handshake with Dr. Done-It. "And you, Dr-"
The ground begins to shake outside. All of the Chaos Council look on in confusion. The Boscage Maze and No Place portals also begin to decay, while Nine does his best to keep balance. He uses his metallic tails to hold him up.

The Void
Back in the Void, everything in it is also shaking as well. Shadow dodges a glass rock flying towards him. "Well, this is new."

Yoke HQ
Dr. Don't gets up, confused. What was that? An earthquake?" He climbs back onto his seat
"No, bigger! A ripple in time and space." Mr Dr. Eggman realized.
The Chaos Council looks at both of the portals which continue to decay.
Dr. Babble cheers and claps.
"The varmint was right, guess that's what happens when one goes drilling holes in reality. You overeager fools!" Dr Done-it angrily points at Mr. Dr. Eggman, Dr. Deep, and Dr. Don't.
"Whatever it is, we can fix it later. No sense stopping now." Eggman excuses it.
Meanwhile, Nine stood in the control room with four Eggforcers surrounding him. Nine was annoyed. "These fools are going to tear the Shatterverse apart. Enough is enough."
Nine looks around at the Eggforcers who are keeping their eye on him, making sure he does not try to escape. He lifts up one of his metallic tails and uses it to unlock the handcuffs he is locked inside. As the handcuffs unlock, time turns into slow motion. As they slowly reach the ground, a door opens, and Rory walks through. He saw the situation that Nine was in, but decided to take action. He tapped his bracelet and energy started to come out of it. He then blitzed forward towards Nine and time resumed. When the handcuffs fell, Nine turned to the Eggforcers ready to fight, but they then started to fall to multiple pieces. Nine had no idea what had just happened.
"Miss me?" Nine turns and sees his friend Rory leaning on a wall with his bracelet revealing a blade made from hard-light.
"Rory!" Nine grinned.
"In the flesh. Good thing I had this upgrade right? Thanks for that." Rory replied with a smirk.
"No problem. Where are the others?" Nine asked with determination.
"I think you'll want to see for yourself." Rory points to the monitor in the room ahead. They reached that room and saw the footage of Sonic fighting Chaos Sonic.
"Wait, if Sonic's there, where's Ryder?" Nine turns to Rory who shrugs.
"I'm guessing wherever your pal Rex ended up. Shame we're missing that fight."
Nine gets determined and decides to push the concern for Ryder aside and focus on Sonic. He runs up to a keyboard that controls the monitor, and speaks to Sonic via his Regulator. "Hey, Sonic, are you there?"
"Sorry, pal, but I'm a little busy at the moment. Woah!" They hear Sonic say before he backflips to dodge an attack from Chaos Sonic, then does a hand-stand kick. Just as Chaos Sonic is about to attack Sonic back, Rebel shows up and lifts Chaos Sonic up, throwing him into a bunch of barrels. Knucks and Knuckles the Dread assist her in taking down the robot, while Sonic looks at them with a smile on his face.
"I have a plan. Follow my directions and lead it to us." Nine instructs him.
"Us? Good, so Rory found you. But are you sure?"
"Positive. But you got to hurry."
"What else is new? Hey, slow poke!" Chaos Sonic looks at Sonic. Sonic can be seen telling Chaos Sonic to follow his lead.
"Sonic, wait! Rebel cries out.
Sonic runs off, while Chaos Sonic spins to get Rebel, Knucks, and Knuckles the Dread off him. He runs after Sonic.
"Quick, take a right." Nine directs him.
"And a left." Rory adds.
"Take a right, then up the stairs!" Nine takes over.
"Exit the top floor! The lab is at the end of the hall!" Rory tells him.
Sonic enters the top floor, and looks behind him to make sure Chaos Sonic is still following. Nine and Rory come out of the computer room, waving their arms in the air. Sonic stops and looks at them.
"Lead him this way!" Sonic nods, listening to Nine's instructions. Sonic runs around in a circle, with Chaos Sonic following behind, then runs into the lab. Nine pulls a lever, and the Shards' energy creates a massive laser that aims straight for Chaos Sonic. Sonic bends down to avoid being hit by the laser, while Chaos Sonic then gets hit by it. He is sent flying out of the Yoke HQ.
"We did it!" Sonic runs up to Nine and hugs him, spinning around, though Nine has an annoyed look on his eyes. "Oh, sorry." He lets go of Nine. I, uh... I know you're not really a hugger." Rory chuckles at this.
"No... I'm sorry." Nine looks down in sadness. "The Chaos Council used me. I didn't..."
Sonic puts his arm onto Nine's shoulder. "Hey, I never doubted you for a second. And that proves why. Only a true friend could pull off a save like that."
"Friend? We're friends?"
"You bet we are! Uh, quick question. How are we gonna carry them all? They seem extra... Shard-y right now." Sonic refers to the Shards being used by the generator.
Nine looks around, then notices some boxes. "This will only take a moment. Rory, help me out."
Rory nods, knowing what's going on and pushes over three cases quickly.
"This case should hold the Shards and contain their energy." Nine opens each lid of the boxes attached to the case. "The more the Shards interact, the more volatile and potentially catastrophic they could become."
Sonic and Rory put the Shards inside. "Genius. As always." Nine activates the case, and it begins to hover. Sonic runs up to Nine and Rory, holding his hands in the air. "Yay, teamwork!"
Rory quickly humors the high five and notices Nine looking at Sonic confused. "Nine, remember what we practiced?"
"Oh... High-five!" They both high-five each other.
"Yes!" Sonic exclaims. They all laugh together, until...
"Aha!" ...the Chaos Council finds Sonic, Rory and Nine. "Stop right there, varmints!" Done-it begins to fire up lasers into the tennis balls of his walking cane.
"I hate this place." Sonic sighs
"Tell me about it." Rory agrees.
Hello everyone, and Merry Christmas. I'm sorry it took so long. I wish I came back sooner but really, I was busy writing for my other story. I have about four chapters written down, in a not so specific order, but I hope you'll enjoy it soon. But as my Christmas gift to you, I bring you this, and a sneak peak of what I have in store.
As Dr. Streiten enters Sam's room, he checks his vitals and sees that he is stable. Streiten then begins playing Lady Gaga's Poker Face, not for any medical reason, but just because he likes it. He also opens up the computer file containing information on the patient. However, what happens next surprises him. Sam suddenly rises from his bed in a large breath. "Where am I?"

Dr. Streiten looked at him with a shocked face. "Oh my god."
"What is this place?" Sam looked around with a panicked look.
Dr. Streiten walked up to him with a small light in his hand. "Pulse 120, pupils equally reactive to light." He checks after putting the light on his face.
Sam shakes his face from the light. "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
"Remain calm. My name is Doctor Streiten. You are in a recovery room. Welcome back Agent Pertuz."
The words he said started to make little sense to Sam. "What do you mean? I don't understand."
"I understand that you are discombobulated after your sudden reawakening. That is completely normal. Simply give yourself time."
Sam furrowed his eyes. "Okay, but why did you call me 'Agent'?"
This question caught Streiten off guard for a moment before coming to a realization. "Oh yes, of course, you are no longer an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Force of habit."
"No, I mean why are you calling me an agent? And what's S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
Now this was starting to get concerning. "Wait, you don't know what S.H.I.E.L.D. is?"
Sam shakes his head. "No."
"How about Grant Ward." Sam shrugged, proving he doesn't know who that is. "Leopold Fitz? Jemma Simmons?" Sam shakes his head. "How about Sam Pertuz?"
"That I know. The other stuff... sorry bro."
"Oh my... it seems that you've experienced too much psychological trauma and have become an amnesiac."
"You lost me doc."
"It means that you've forgotten everything. Including who you are." Sam's eyes widened at that news. Streiten was right, he couldn't remember anything other than his own name.
"Oh my god."
"Do not be frightened. It is in everyone's best interest if you achieve your memories. We will help you."
Sam turned to him with a worried look on his face, but then nodded his head. If anyone could do it, these people were the only people he knew.
