Taking a walk in the forest gives me peace. I love being a Luna. It is as if I was born for the role, but sometimes I need to think. It is a month after the two packs are formed and also a month after my mating with my lovely male. Even thinking about him gives me goosebumps, or as we say in Holland, âChicken skinâ. I feel so complete, he was always meant to be part of me. Igétas is more relaxed, his body less tense. While he actually has more work to do. But him knowing I am safe and our mating bond helps him. We were so tense scared for the heat to strike, scared for his wolf to take over. It feels now that we conquered a lot more than running a new Pack full of errors.
âAre you thinking of me?â Igétas ask me over mind-link.
âYes, I am.â I set myself down against a tree and open my bag with notebooks.
âI feel you thinking about me. Everything well?â
âYes, just trying to figure out our warrior problem.â
âOkay, see you later today'. He leaves my mind and I sigh in love.
I still canât communicate with the rest of the Pack over mind-link. It must be a human thing. I look over my tasks for today in my planner. It is time to pick a name for the Pack, but it is a hard choice to make. All the nice names are already taken and the Elders donât approve of every name. We have one option left and we are going to pitch it to the Pack and Elders tonight. The Golden Moon Pack, not only has it âmoonâ in the name. The âGoldenâ gives it a little touch of glamour. For Igétas and me, the Golden Moon stands for our mate bond formed by the Goddess herself. There isnât a Pack with this name, so I think that we are fine.
I open the notebook on a blank page. Nothing works better than a blank page to write on. We have ten warriors living in our Pack and five warriors in training. A couple of them had different jobs, but wants to help out where needed. Alpha Tharros is lending us a hand with labor, but we want to be self-sufficient as soon as possible. We still share a lot of facilities and Tharros is leading the build of the new houses. I heard that it is coming along nicely. I didnât feel the need to check it out myself. Luna Yolanda went to me a couple of times and we had a lovely time. She told me a couple of things about being a Luna. She is a great teacher and I like her company.
I donât know how long I am working in my notebook when I hear some branches of trees move.
âWho is there?â
âIt is me,â Chris answers walking torch me.
âCan I help you?â I raise an eyebrow at him.
âI am sorry, Alpha wants me to keep an eye on you when you are alone in the woods.â I shake my head at his confession.
âThe border is being watched, you are probably required to be somewhere else.â
âWe donât want you to be alone in the woods. It is still dangerous if we miss something on patrol. With all the respect, you donât have control over your luna-courage, no wolf side to protect. Your mate feels better knowing I watch you when you go to the woods.â
âFine,â I give in, it is no point talking to him when Igétas gave a command. âBut you better sit next to me and help me with a plan. You are no use to me lurking in the trees like a greep.â
âYes, Luna,â he chuckles and sits down.
We work half an hour together. I had the idea to patrol closer to the border, so that fewer warriors would be needed to cover every post. Chris has experience in patrol and tells me what can be done and what isnât a good idea. Then his eyes become misty.
âThere are intruders by the gate.â He gives me a message and stands up giving me a hand.
âIntruders?â
âYes, they are asking to see the Alpha and Luna, come on.â We run to the gate. Most of the warriors are already there. Three black cars are standing behind the barrier and eight people are standing for them. I can't reach Igétas with my mind and I look over to Chris.
âHe is on an important phone call.â
I nod at him and take a couple of steps forward. My warriors instantly guarded me. âAre theyâ¦â I ask and before I finish the question, Chris answers. âYes, I smell the wolf on them, some of them.â He corrects when we are closer.
âThis is private property.â I tell them and three males and a female look me up and down.
âSo it is true?â The long skinny male sniffs and looks over to his party.
Chris holds on to my elbow, âLuna, I think we should wait for Igétas.â My eyes drift to his hand on my arm and he let it go as if I was on fire.
âWhat is true?â I ask looking the males up and down. They are clearly wolfs with their muscles.
âYou are human?â The female wolf asks. âYou are the Luna?â One of the females asks and then I see it. They have the physicality traits of a human, and so does one man.
There are other humans who know about werewolves?
âState your business.â I command without any authority in my voice. If they answer, it is because they want to.
âWe want to join you Pack.â The biggest male tells me.
âWhat happened to your last Pack?â I ask and Chris is now literally blocking them from me.
âYou know how they think about humans and when we found our mates , it justâ¦â The female spook.
â⦠Wait, you are mates?â I look over to my man standing close. There are five warriors around me.
âYes, we all have found human mates.â The short man says.
âOkay, wait for one second.â I turn and look at my ââbodyguardsââ. âWho is watching the borders if you stand here?â They look at each other and tell me that Oliver is running with speed to cover everything. I sigh. âDonât you think this is a great strategy to attack? Distract us from the border and leave it weak?â I sigh again at their blank faces. âJust go to your posts, Chris stays here with me, and Zack needs to be here.â
They look unsure. Not wanting the Luna outnumbers by strangers. âIgétas will be here soon. Go.â I commanded and they leave.
âSo how did you know about us?â, I ask them and look over the group.
âA rumor, I didnât think it was true, but we couldnât let it go without investigating. Wolves need a Pack. â The female wolf speaks.
âLooks like you have your own little Pack to me.â
âIt is not the same.â The short man tells me.
âWhat is it?â Igétas comes running in wolfs speed.
âIt looks like being mated to a human isnât as uncommon as we thought.â I smile up at him.
âAlpha Igétas, we want to ask for a place within your Pack.â The biggest man says.
All the outsiders go on one knee and bow their heads. âWhat is the protocol for something like this?â
I have no idea how to handle it.
âPack swapping isnât something done on a regular basis, but we do have a protocol. We need to contact the former Pack and see if everything is already and then mostly make a decision on gut feeling.â Igétas scratches the back of his neck.
âChris, show them the Packhouse and get the word out to Alpha Tharros.â
âYes, Alpha.â
The outsiders leave and Igétas takes me away to the forest for some one-on-one time.
âFour coulpes with humans.â I tell him.
âWhy do we think it is extremely rare?â
He chuckles and put an arm around my shoulder, âDid you already forget your warm welcome to the Pack?â
I laugh with him, âNo, I guess not, but I never thought it was a secret thing to love someone.â
âYes, it isnât something other Packs want. Maybe some of the packs donât even know the reason why they left. Maybe they hadnât had the chance to see how lovely little humans are.â He places his head in my neck and kisses my mark. It healed well, with some help from Maya.
âWhat will we decide?â
âIf they want to be part of a Pack, we would be the best option. If Tharros didnât let me mate you before the next heat, I would be thrilled to find a place that excepted you as you are.â
âYou are right, and we certainly can use the extra menâs power. But we should get to know them better before we make any decisions.â
âSpoken as a true Luna.â He kisses me deeply and I am lost for a second or two.
âWe need to discuss something else,â I tell him breathlessly when I push him away.
âWhat is it?â He looks worried. He can feel my emotions and I know that I feel a little nervous.
âWe need to tackle something quickly before it gets worse.â
âTell me now.â He growls looking behind me for danger and I smile at him.
âWe need to tell my parents what is going on. They will be expecting me back soon.â
He holds me tight as if I can disappear every moment.
âYou will not go anywhere.â He tells me looking in my eyes. Vasil agrees and lets his colors show.
I kiss him, âIgétas, I am not going anywhere. You are my mate and I choose a life with you. But you need to meet them sometime.â
âI know, I will meet them. But first we have other things to do.â
âYes, letâs find out of the humans settle in well.â I turn and he picks me up and walks me deeper in
to the woods. âIgétas!â I yell.
âRelax, we will find them later. First, you need to really relax.â I look down on him and see his eyebrows move. I laugh and let him take me away.
He is perfect for me and when the next big thing hits us down, I know we can stand up. I conquered a lot to be with him. We conquered everything in our way. I donât know what the future holds, but I know that with him there, I am at peace.
-The End-
