âI explain in a second,â he grabs my arm and leads me to a bookcase filled with what must be ancient books.
I expect him to ask me about leaving his room or about what I told the elders, but he starts with a different question.
âWhat did your parents say? You said you figured it out.â He looks hopeful to me.
âI did, I spoke with my mom and she told me something is didnât know. Maybe because she didnât remember it happened to her until I ask about it.â
âSo, what is it?â he is so impatient and it is a good thing that he looks cute while he is.
âMy parents could not have children. I mean, she said it was hard and after five years of trying, there I was. When I ask her about it, she was hurt. God, she didnât like it one bit that I accused her of cheating or adopting me.â Igétas is rubbing my arm in a calming way.
âShe said to me that she prayed to the gods and hoped for a miracle.â I look deep into his green forest eyes. âDo you get it? The Gods and Goddess, she prayed to the moon.â
Igétas takes a step back. âWhat? That isnât possible.â He shakes his head and I tell him exactly what my mom said.
âWell, I better start believing the Selene shit now.â He sighs and I push him, of course, he doesnât move.
âDonât talk to her like that, she created me to be with you. Show some respect.â
âWell, it is hard to believe.â
âI know it is. I just know it is a little longer than you, but do you see? It is nice to know that we both are created with blessings from the same goddess. It makes me more connected to you, to the werewolf world. I felt like an outsider and I know the feeling will not go away soon. It is nice to know we are connected in this way. Do you understand me?â
He kisses the top of my head and hugs me tightly. âItâs good to know that it isnât just a mistake. I know we belong together, but with you not having a wolf. I was worried. It makes more sense now.â
âIt does, doesnât it? Of course, I donât know a lot about Luna-courage and Selene, but only more to learn.â
âIf you want to learn, We have a library with werewolf books. Ask Ela to show you after you leave this meeting.â I nod at his suggestion.
âSo, why are the elders here?â
He rubs the back of his head and is trying to find the right words. I am proud that I already know his thinking face.
âI think I can best describe it as damage control for the future. At least that is what I think it is. He doesnât know how to deal with our situation, naturally. So instead of talking with us, he went behind my back and called the elders.â
âWhat does he want them to do?â
âWell, when I got a message from Zack that the guests arrived, I left you and went to see who was coming. Then I saw the Elders car and decided to attend. He acted like a real Alpha all worried about the Pack and the impact of a human. He asks them everything with the plan to send you away.â He looks pained.
âI am still here,â I reassure him.
âHe hoped for two old elders to show up. Little did he know that the great-aunt of Amanda joined Alexander. She is more open to change. Like you said earlier. He is threatened by you, scared for us. He hoped that had permission to send you away. Which of course meanâ¦â
âYou would come with me.â I finish his sentence like a real movie couple. He smiles at it and nods.
âBut the plan doesnât work out. They like you. You are one of the good exciting things that happened in the last ten years.â
âGreat,â I say not sure what to say next.
At that moment the door opens and the meeting continues. Igétas tells them about what I just had discovered and it raises more questions than it solves. We didn't tell them everything. We took the Selene story out of it. We discuss that we all need some time to find answers about Igétas and my mating. Angeline and Alexanders promise to keep in touch and try to find out if this kind of thing happened before. Igétas tells them that we try to find answers in our books.
Days went by quick. I am moved in to the Pack house and try to go to some of my classes. Igétas isnât big on the idea of my leaving to Pack ground, but with a lot of security and a compromise of only going to school three times in a week, he caved. Rose and Joe werenât keen on the idea of me moving in with a wolf, but they saw how good Igétas is for me. And he really is.
I know he is busy with Pack stuff, but he always find time for me. Tharros tries to keep them away from me, but the matebond is too strong. I sometimes find myself walking in a direction and finding him working on the Pack grounds. We talk while he is working and he tells me a lot of werewolf stuff I didnât know.
I learn every day from him and of course my friends. Ela and Amanda are almost always around me. I think because Igétas told them to, but seems like they just like me. I am also trying to connect with Jolanda. Sometimes we talk for ten minutes, but most of the time we are disturbed by a ââLuna-emergencyââ. She always leaves right away.
I donât have a lot of thing to do. Some of the Pack members donât seem to like me and the group donât appear to become smaller. The ââanti-Violet-campaignââ start to work. I am not mad at them. They just following the advice from the Alpha, but it does hurt a little.
Thanks to my unique situation, I am spending a lot of time in the library searching in old stories for answers. So far no luck.
