Walking through the hallway with Logan and Ethan beside me was uncomfortable. But not as much as being twenty-four years old and taking classes with eighteen-year-olds.
I came here to learn the language, so all my classes are very basic topics Iâve mostly already covered in my courses back in Holland.
Taylor and Tiffany are both years old and a great help during classes. The hallways were filled with young people.
âViolet, here!â I hear Tiffany call and I go to her, seeing that Taylor is also present. They arenât related but looks like they could be sisters. Both blonde and having the same wide smile. Only Tiffany is a head taller than Taylor.
âHey, girls! Missed me?â I ask while accepting their hugs.
âOf course, how are you now?â Taylor asks, eying my bodyguards. Most of the pack members always keep to themselves, like Logan and Ethan. I never saw them interact with other students in the canteen. And now I have the two bulky students surrounding me.
âI am better,â I say and tell them the stories with, of course, a twist.
The bell rings and we go to class. Ethan and Logan are going to their classes.
âWhy are they following you? I never saw them near you before.â Tiffany says and Taylor bumps into her.
âDonât be jealous, I know you have a crush on Ethan.â Taylor says, while raising her eyebrows, and I laugh at them. Entering the classroom, everything goes back to normal and I love it. No werewolves, no more thinking about the past, just studying.
Recess came quickly, and Logan and Ethan were with us during lunch. The second we stand up and walk to our next class, Ethan walks behind me and is giving looks to people who stare at us. This is crazy. I need to tell them to stop, now.
âGo to class, I will be right behind you.â The girls nod their heads and leave me with Ethan and Logan.
âAre you guys crazy?â I ask them, and they look confused.
âI donât want any attention and you two protecting me from nothing and giving people weird looks isnât helping me.â
Logan and Ethan share a look and stay quiet.
I point at them. âWhat was that? The look that you just shared?â
âWhat look?â Logan asks with his voice a little too high. A giving tell he is hiding something.
âTell me now.â They donât surrender.
âAre you forgetting what I did for your community?â I ask, and I know it is a low blow.
Loganâs hardened face becomes softer and Ethan is growling softly.
âDonât you growl at me,â I point my finger once again. âWhat is the secret?â
Sharing a look, Ethan speaks up. âThere have been some changes since you came to the pack grounds.â
âOf course,â I say, âyou were attacked and the whole place is closed to be restored.â
Ethan shakes his head and Logan takes my hand and moves us to an empty classroom.
âThatâs not what we mean.â
Shutting the door and taking a seat on the desk he continues. âYou are Igétasâ mate.â Logan whispers like it is a big secret.
âI know that, but what I want to know is why you two are all over me and acting like I am in danger.â
Both men are avoiding eye contact. âOh my God, why am I in danger?â I ask again.
âLogan, donât tell her. Igétas will be so angry.â
âShe is asking us now, and in the future...â he doesnât continue.
âI wonât tell Igétas,â I say, and see thatâs not good enough. âIf he finds out, I will take responsibility and will stop him from punishing you.â That does the trick.
âOkay, well I wonât go into detail, but the Alpha doesnât like your mating.â I am more confused than a second ago.
âHe doesnât like it that his brother found love, me?â I ask and Ethan shakes his head.
âIt is about power. Igétas could be more powerful with you by his side.â
âI donât get it.â I take a seat and wait for more answers.
âYou are not just a mate, you two are...â
âWait, Igétas is going to explain that tonight. Donât tell me. I want him to clarify the topic.â
âAlright, just know that the Alpha is threatened by you.â Logan says.
âMe? But I am a human! I canât do damage to him! Can I?â
âNo,â Ethan says,â but Igétas can.â
âI donât get it. Isnât a pack one big family? Arenât they on the same side? They are brothers.â I ask.
âJust know that Igétas doesnât trust his brother and we donât know what he will do. Thatâs all we can say.â
âSo, am I really in danger?â I begin to feel a little lightheaded.
âNo, I donât think so.â Logans says. âWe are just extra manpower in case something happens.â
With those words, they both escort me to my next lesson and leave. I couldnât concentrate on the teacher, and I left as soon as possible. The day flew by and I went home.
I didnât talk much to T and T after the talk with Ethan and Logan. Everything is just so complicated. Why does the Alpha want to see me gone, and why are the two bulky teenagers afraid of my well-being? Why do they care? So many questions and so little answers.
At home, I go straight to my room and do some of my homework and make myself pretty for the date. Yes, I am a little upset, but he can explain everything during the date. I am looking forward to seeing him again. It feels like a year since I last saw him, but it has only been a day. Well, less than a day.
I want to make myself pretty for him and take a few dresses out of the closet. Deciding to go for a cute look, I take a baby blue dress and put it on. Next, a light make-up with only mascara and nude lipstick. Happy with the look, I take a seat behind my desk and finish some more homework.
âViolet,â Rose calls, âIgétas is here for you!â
With a smile, I walk down the stairs and see my man standing in the little kitchen.
My man, I like it.
