FRIDAY

Pissed off. I'm so fucking pissed off.
I got dragged out here because these fuckers couldn't figure out who stole a crate from our shipment. I could be at the thrift store right now, with Valentina. I know she was upset I had to go the other day. She tried to hide it, but it was obvious. And now I haven't seen her in 4 days.
I was sitting in my office at the warehouse, waiting for someone to bring me the security footage from today. I decided to text her.
me
Hey, Valentina. How is it?
Valentina
oh, hi! it's great, there's so much clothes for such cheap prices! i could spend all day here, haha.
me
That's great, bella. How long do you plan on staying there?
Valentina
i'm in line to the check-out right now, gonna head home after that. i'm getting super hungry.
me
I could have one of the guys drive you home, if you want.
Valentina
no, it's okay, thank you, Enzo. i'll text you when i'm home!
I was about to respond, when Romeo came in my office.
"Here's the security footage from all of the cameras on the boarding dock. Do you need something else?" he asked.
"A fucking break." I chuckled dryly, taking the USB sticks containing the footage from him.
"Yeah, a break to hangout and make out with your new girlfriend." he laughed, leaning against the wall, making kissing noises. Asshole.
"Shut up, cagna." I muttered, my mind drifting off to Valentina. (bitch)
Valentina was such a gorgeous woman, not just looks wise, but personality wise. She had a heart of gold. Her brown hair was usually tied to a bun, but the few chances I've had to see her let it down, just to re-tie it, is wonderful. Her hair is smooth and long, her eyes are a beautiful green color. Most of the time she wears little to no makeup and she still looks gorgeous. The dresses she wore were just...fuck. She looked amazing.
"Helloooo...are you off into dreamland or something?" Romeo waved at me, laughing.
"Go do something, be useful." I muttered, annoyed. Romeo just chuckled, heading out of the room.
I sighed, turning to my computer, starting to look through the security footage.

2 HOURS LATER...

Fucking, finally. It took me two hours to go through it all, and finally found out who the fuck is responsible for a missing crate. It was one of our newer recruits, a scrawny looking guy. He definitely isn't working alone. I got up and made my way downstairs, where some of the men were hanging out.
"Guys. I found the rat." I said, stood at the end of the staircase. They turned to me, some of them coming closer to hear me better.
"Do you remember the new recruit we got a few weeks back?" I asked and received nods in return.
"He's the rat. I want him in a cell, and I want you to figure out every bit of information he knows and find out who the fuck he works for. Got it?" I spoke, keeping my tone strict and stern. As much as I consider these men my brothers, they still know when to be serious.
"Yes, capo." they said in unison, and headed out to find the rat.
I sighed, I've done my job, it's almost 6.30 PM, I still have time, I could go see Valentina.
I pulled out my phone and dialed her number.
Calling Valentina...
"Hello?" I heard her soft voice through the phone.
"Hi, bella. I was calling to see, if I could come over." I said, shoving my hand in my pocket.
I could hear her hushing Alejandro, "Yeah, that's fine. Do you want something to eat?"
Sweetheart.
"I can stop by somewhere and get us food." I answered, already getting into my car.
"You can? That'd be amazing." she sighed in relief.
"Do you have anything in specific that you'd want, bella?" I asked, starting my car.
"No, anything is fine. I've got to feed Alejandro, so I have to hang up." she said.
"Of course, I'll see you when I get there." I said, hanging up.
I backed out of the parking space and made my way to a Chinese place nearby. I don't know what she prefers, so I'm just going to order a bunch of different stuff.
35 minutes and half a menu later...
I was walking out of the restaurant with multiple paper bags, filled with food. I got a few different drinks aswell, so Valentina could decide which one she wants. I set them all on the passenger seat, made sure they were secure before I rounded the car, got in, and drove off.
I know I have to tell Valentina what I do eventually. And I know that I probably will never see her again after that happens. So, if it makes me a bad guy to stall telling her, then so be it.
I mean...I did tell her she could search up my name whenever. But I find it cute that she didn't, she trusts me.
I arrived at her house and could feel a smile on my face. I missed her so so much. I got out of my car, going to the other side to grab all of the bags of food, and made my way to the door, knocking on it.
A few seconds later, I heard the lock click, and the door open, revealing Valentinas beautiful, but tired face, with Alejandro in her arms.
"Enzo." she sighed, with a small smile on her face.
"Valentina, amore, is everything okay?" I asked, with furrowed brows, as I stepped inside and closed the door behind me.
She nodded, "I just haven't been able to get much sleep, I'm okay." She glanced at the bags in my hands, "What'd you get?"
I knew there was more to it. We hadn't had much time to talk in the past 4 days, and when we did, it always got cut off by Alejandro being fussy. She must be exhausted.
But clearly, she doesn't want to talk about that now. I'm not going to force her.
"Chinese." I smiled, making my way to the kitchen as she followed me.
"You angel, I've craved Chinese for the longest time." she said, taking a seat at the kitchen table.
I grabbed plates for us and sat down and took a good look at her. Her hair was in a messy bun, her face was clear of makeup, and her shirt had wet spots on it, overall, she looked like a beautiful mess. Her face looked exhausted though, it made me worried. I had to say something.
"Valentina, are you positive that you're okay? You look exhausted." I asked, grabbing some food.
She took a deep breath, glancing at Alejandro, "He's been clingier than usual. He constantly wakes up during the night, I haven't slept a wink in almost two days. I haven't even been able to shower, because he won't let me put him down." Her eyes watered. Poor girl.
"I'm sorry, bella. If you want, I could try and hold him, if it's okay with you?" I asked, glancing at Alejandro curled up in her arms.
It was like a weight was off her shoulders, "Yes, please. It won't hurt to try."
I smiled, moving my chair closer to hers, as she carefully handed him to me. I cradled him in my arms, and he was so light, so small. He whined a little, opening his eyes and looking at me.
"Hey, buddy. It's me Enzo. I heard you've been giving your mom a hard time, huh?" I smiled at him, as his hand grasped my shirt.
I heard Valentina sniffle, as she laid her head on my shoulder, "Thank you so much, Enzo. This means a lot to me."
"Of course, amore. Now please, eat." I said, kissing the top of her head.
She grabbed a takeaway box of something, and started eating, still leaning her head on my shoulder. If I knew she was struggling this much I would've visited her earlier.
We sat there for almost thirty minutes; Alejandro had been asleep for at least twenty. Valentina was done eating, and so was I.
"Do you want to go take a shower? I can watch him." I offered, looking at her.
She seemed hesitant, I understand why. She feels scared to leave her baby with me.
"You have a baby monitor, yeah?" I asked. She nodded.
"Is it one of those that has a camera on it?"
She nodded again.
"We can use that. You can take the screen with you to the shower, I'll keep the camera on Alejandro the whole time. Would that help?" I asked.
"Alright, that's fine. Come on, it's in my room." she said, standing up.
I followed her to her room, as she grabbed both parts of the baby monitor, turning them on and making sure they're connected, she handed me the camera part.
"We'll be in the living room, okay? You'll see him the whole time, I promise." I told her, my tone sincere.
"Okay, thank you, Enzo. I really appreciate it." she smiled, kissing my cheek and walking into the bathroom. I stood there in shock for a second, before I made my way to the living room, sitting down on the couch.
I'll win your heart over some day, Valentina.
