Chapter Chapter Four

I holster my gun once more and make my way back to the school making sure there was no blood on me as I notice Taylor and Henderson nearing the office.

“Everything sorted?” Henderson says as I nod.

“Tonight will be interesting” Taylor sighs as we sit down.

“We need to carry on pretending that you know nothing but what Lizzy has told you.” Henderson says.

“He’s coming after me…Why is it always me?” I sigh, my head in my hands.

“You’re a powerful girl. You’ll always have someone wanting what’s yours. But there are people behind you. You just need to be careful in who you trust” Henderson says.

“And I thought I could trust Hayden, look where that got me…” I sigh.

“It’s not easy, I understand but that is why you have people like myself, your other grandfather, Beck and your men by your side. They will protect you as you will protect them” He adds.

“I have to wipe Hayden out…Do you think Lizzy knows?” I face Taylor.

“I don’t know…She could easily be manipulated…But the look in her eyes, she doesn’t want to hurt you Sammy…” Taylor says.

“Shit…We get Hayden, take him out. Take Craig out too while we’re at it. We’ll hold Lizzy, see how she is…If she’s being manipulated…I can’t…I know what she’s been through Taylor…” I cry.

“We’ll deal with it. I’ll keep an eye on her.” Taylor nods.

“I taught your mother, you know. You’re like her a lot Samantha. She’d be proud” Henderson says as I smile with a tear in my eye.

“Thank you. I need to call my boys. Taylor…If this goes wrong, you get out, head home and protect my child” I say as he looks at me with pain in his eyes before sighing and nodding.

“Nothing is going to happen to you Sam, not on my watch” He says as I hug him before taking out my phone and heading outside.

I ring Jayden.

“Hey baby, I didn’t expect a call so early. Everything ok?” He asks, the worry clear in his voice.

“Just a little nervous about tonight. I wanted to hear your voices” I said.

“You’ll be fine Sam. Hey buddy, do you want to talk to mummy?” Jayden says and I smile when Cody comes to the phone.

“Mummy!” Hey giggles happily.

“Hi baby boy, how are you? Are you having fun with daddy and the others?” I ask.

“Yeah! But Uncle Shaun and Uncle Luka not home…they busy” He says sadly.

“Busy doing what?” I ask.

“I dunno, stuff. Uncle Bwian gone too” he cries.

“I’m sure they will be back soon” I say.

“I miss you mummy, when you come home?” He asks.

“Soon baby, soon” I answer trying not to cry.

“Daddy want to talk. Love you mummy” He says.

“Love you too baby boy” I answer.

“So, uhh, the boys…I have no idea where they are…” Jayden says coming back to the phone.

“What do you mean you don’t know where they are?! You’re all supposed to be protecting Cody!” I cry angrily.

“There are plenty of people still here” He says.

“I need you to be careful, Hayden is not with us” I say quietly.

“WHAT?” he exclaims.

“Henderson has been protecting me for years for my mother. Hayden wants me and my mafia. He was friends with my grandfather. Tonight I’ve got to take him and Craig down” I sigh.

“No…Come home, right now” He says sternly.

“I can’t just leave now! What about Henderson? What about Beck? What about all of us?! With Hayden still around we are all in danger! I need you to contact the others and warn them. Anything could happen when I take down Hayden” I snap back.

“You’ll die! We’ll run we’ll go somewhere new. Just don’t do this Sam!” He cries out.

“I have no choice. This has to end, or he will keep coming after me. So many people have been under him from the beginning, Vern, Gregory and my Uncle Karlos being a few. This has to end to keep our family safe! I have Taylor, Henderson and Beck, I’ll be ok” I say.

“Please kitten, I’m begging you, come home” He cries.

“I can’t. I’m sorry Jayden. I love you and Cody so much, remember that. Keep him safe, I’ll be home soon” I say.

“I love you Kitten, come home to us. We love you” He whispers sadly.

“I’ll see you soon. Stay safe. Give Cody lots of hugs for me” I say.

“I will” He answers.

“Love you, I’ll call you when it’s over” I said.

“You better kitten. Tell Taylor he’ll be in trouble if you have a single hair out of place” He says, and I laugh.

“I will. Bye baby” I say as he says goodbye and we hang up.

I sigh and back up onto a tree as I sob a little.

“Get yourself together Samantha” I say to myself as I wipe my eyes and go back indoors.

The bells had gone, and kids flooded the corridors, I watched the hustle and bustle, remembering when I was younger and was a student here. The noises, the smells, it brought so many memories back. I missed the simpler times, but I wouldn’t take anything back. I loved my family and would do anything I could to keep them safe.

“Taylor has gone to the car he’s waiting for you there. I’ve set up a room for you both to get ready in the east wing, Taylor knows where to go. I’ll see you tonight Samantha” Henderson makes me jump, creeping up beside me as he used to do as I laugh nervously.

“Thank you…For everything” I say as I lay my hand on his arm and head back outside.

“I don’t think Damien is very happy with our situation right now Sammy” Taylor looks upset.

“Neither is Jayden. He said you better make sure I don’t come home with even a hair out of place or you’re in deep trouble” I smirk nervously.

“Damien said a similar thing but that neither of us are to come home hurt” He hugs me tightly.

“We’ll get through this” I say hugging him back.

“Of course we will. We always do”
