I finally found my voice and speak up. "Patrice." I said quietly.
She looked at me. "What is it?"
"There is a..." I trailed off as I didn't know what to call that thing. "There is something behind you." I finally said.
She rolled her eyes. "Don't tell me that it's a dangerous animal. I told you guys, there is no dangerous animals here."
Just as she said that, the reptile - or fish - let out a low growl. Patrice looked around quickly, her eyes going wide when she saw the creature. She covered her mouth with her hands to prevent herself from screaming.
"Shhh," Vincent spoke up. "No one makes any sudden movements."
Tamika looked at Vincent, her eyes wide. "Are you crazy? We have to get out of here." She said.
"No, if we move, it's going to attack. It's watching our every movement. It's smart." Vincent said in a whisper.
Patrice shook her head vehemently. "No, no, I can't stay right here. I have to get out of here." She said in a panic. As she said that, she turned to move. However, in her frantic movements, she tripped on her foot and fell to the ground. When she fell, the creature instantly head for her.
"Patrice!" I shouted, moving quickly towards her. I helped her on her feet quickly, before the creature could get to her.
When she was on her feet again, we all took a step back. However, the creature was quick and the next thing I know, he grabbed for Kyle and began dragging him away.
"Kyle!" Tamika shouted, as she and Vincent grabbed his hands to pull him back. It was no use though, as the creature was strong. He pulled Kyle from their grasp, causing them to fall back on the ground as it dragged Kyle away.
"Kyle!" We all shouted, but all we heard was Kyle's screams and grunts as the creature pulled him further away.
"I guess now is the time we should run." Tamika said, looking back at us.
"I couldn't agree more." I replied, still shaken up by what just happen.
"Come on," Vince said, urging us on. "That thing can come back any minute." We all turned and began to run in the opposite direction.
We were running for a long time now, when we came out into a clearing. We finally stopped to catch our breaths.
"You think we lost it?" Kate asked, bending over and resting her hands on her knees.
"Can someone please tell me what the hell was that...that thing!" Patrice asked in a high pitched voice, pointing her fingers in the direction we had just came from.
"I have never seen something like that in my life. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes." Kate said.
"We have to get out of here!" Rebecca replied frantically, swinging her hands all over the place. "I can't stay here, not with that thing out there. Did you see the size of its teeth? Did you see the size of it? It could swallow you whole if it wanted to! We have to get the hell out of here!"
Vincent walked over to her and placed his hands on her shoulder. "Calm down, Rebecca." He said in a quiet voice. "It won't help any of us if you panic."
"Did you see how easily it dragged Kyle away? Poor Kyle." Rebecca whispered, ignoring Vincent's warnings. She then looked up at us, her eyes wide. "We have to get out of here!"
"We have to head back to the cabin and warn the others." I said.
"We obviously can't go back the way we came. We could run into the shark...alligator -Â whatever it is - again!" Patrice shrieked.
"Okay, we can walk on the other side of the forest to reach back to the cabins." Vincent suggested.
Tamika looked at Vincent doubtfully. "How are we supposed to take the other side of the forest, if we don't know our way from there?" She asked.
Vincent dug into his back pocket and pulled out a compass. "We can use this. It may take a little longer, but we will make it."
Not having any other solution, we all went with Vince's plan and began to walk again.
After half an hour of walking, we finally saw our cabins up ahead. Thankfully, with the help of Vince's compass, we didn't take as long as I'd expected. More importantly, we didn't run into the creature again.
No one was outside or in the water, so I guess they were all in the main cabin together. We would all stay in the main cabin during the day just to talk or find some interesting games to play.
We took off on a run to reach the cabin, because we didn't know if the creature was back on this side or if there were more than one.
When we reached the main cabin, we burst inside. Everyone looked around at us, as we catch our breaths.
"What happened to you guys?" Anna asked, lifting her eyebrows. She was sitting on the couch, playing a board game with Natalie and Wade.
I looked at each one of them, my eyes wide as I spoke. "We have to get out of here!" I said instantly.
Brian, who was sitting on a stool near a counter talking to Lance, turned to face us. "Why? What happened?"
"We ran into a freaking shark-like alligator!" Rebecca cut in.
"A sharkgator." Kaitlyn surmised. We all looked at her, nodding our heads, agreeing that that name was best fit for what we saw.
"A what?" Mr. Raglan asked, looking at us with a confused expression.
"An alligator with the head of a shark attacked us!" Rebecca supplied. "It was huge and vicious...and...and it had one thing on its mind; to eat us! We have to leave now!" She was panicking again.
Finally, getting the message, everyone got on their feet becoming alert. "Are you serious?" Wade asked.
"Of course we're serious, Wade." Patrice said, getting impatient. "Why would we joke about something like that?"
"Wait," Natalie said, all of a sudden. "Where's Kyle?"
We all looked at each other with a sad expression, before Tamika spoke up. "He didn't make it."
"What?" Mr. Campbell asked, as the information sunk in.
"The sharkgator was really quick. It snagged Kyle from in front of us and pulled him away." Patrice said.
"Oh God," Natalie said, covering her mouth with her hands.
"Alright, I'm going to call the bus driver and tell him to come for us." Mr. Raglan said, as he walked over to the phone in the middle of the room.
After two tries, he gave up because the phone didn't ring. It only made a beeping sound, indicating that the phone line was dead. He slammed the receiver down and cursed under his breath. He looked at us. "It's best, we try calling him on his cell."
"There is no service in here." Wade said.
"Alright, let's go outside and see if we can get service." We all nodded our heads and went out of the cabin.
A few seconds later, we were outside, trying to get signal, when we heard a sound. We all turned in the direction of the water, were the sound came from. It was the sharkgator, who had just emerged from the water.
We all stood shock still, staring wide eyed at it. It looked back at us, calculating its next move.
"Oh God." Anna whispered the same time Wade said. "What in the world...?"
Mr. Raglan was the first one to move into action and said quickly. "Everyone, get back to the cabin. Now!"
