After the longest night I've ever had to endure, it was finally morning. Throughout the night, I kept waking up at odd hours. Also, during the short sleep that I got in between, I kept seeing the sharkgator in my dreams. I was glad when morning came. With that thing still out there and us still trapped here, sleep was the last thing on my mind.
As soon as everyone was up and freshen up to prepare for the new day, we gathered together in the living room to figure out how we were going to get out of here.
Mr. Raglan decided that he was going to try the phone again. This time, thankfully, it rang, but our hopes were deflated when no one picked up the phone. He left a message, telling the bus driver to come for us as soon as he got the message or to send help. I hope he got the message because the connection was wavering and the line went dead at the end of the message.
Just as Mr. Raglan put the phone back into its cradle, there was a loud shove on the door. We all turned our attention to the door quickly, just as another bang sounded.
"Oh God!" Anna screamed. "It's back!"
Vincent, Mr. Raglan and Lance ran over to the door and braced on it.
"This thing is smart. It knows we're in here." Vincent replied, pushing his hands on the door as hard as possible.
"And it's hungry, because he's pushing harder than yesterday." Lance observed.
I waited for the sharkgator to hold up, but it didn't. It continued to shove the door, each shove stronger than the last. I ran into one of the rooms to grab a baseball bat that I had spotted. I knew it couldn't do anything, but it was better to be armed. I went back into the living room to see everyone frantic about the place. The other guys had joined to help hold the door and Rebecca was screaming none stop.
We all watched in horror as the sharkgator finally created a hole in the door. The guys got out of the way as the sharkgator pushed its head through the hole. Its razor sharp teeth on display.
I walked closer to the door and used the bat that I had, to hit the sharkgator on its head. I hit him continuously until it backed away.
"Is it gone?" Anna asked, after a while.
"I don't think so." I replied, watching the hole in the door for any sign of the sharkgator reappearing.
"I don't care. I'm not going to stand here and wait for it to attack again. I'm getting out of here." Rebecca said, moving from the corner she was in and towards the door.
"Rebecca, get back. You can't go out there and you don't know where it is." Vincent reasoned.
Rebecca shook her head and looked at Vincent, her blue eyes glistening with tears. "I can't take this anymore. I have to leave." She continued to the door, before anyone could stop her. Opening it quickly, she dashed out.
We all ran to the door quickly. "Rebecca, no!" Lance shouted. Rebecca ignored Lance's warning and took tentative steps down the two steps of the cabin.
"Rebecca, come back inside, please." Patrice pleaded with her friend. Rebecca turned to face us, her eyes were wide with fear and she was shaking all over.
Before anybody else could say anything, the sharkgator appeared from out of nowhere and grabbed her by her stomach. It happened so fast that, if I had blinked, I would have missed it. Screams and gasps were let out from all of us at the door. We watched in horror as the sharkgator took her away in its mouth.
"Rebecca!" Patrice screamed.
However, her shouts were of no use as the sharkgator's sharp teeth bit into Rebecca's belly. She screamed in pain and tried to struggle and hit the sharkgator with her hands.
"Help me!" She cried, as blood ran from her mouth. "Help me!"
"We have to go!" Brian said, snapping everyone out of their terror shock. "We can't stay here anymore because he would only finish breaking down the door. We have to run!"
For some reason my body couldn't move. It was like I was paralyzed. I just stood there, my eyes focused on the trail of blood on the ground and in the grass. All this was happening too fast and I felt like I was in dream. An horrible nightmare that I wanted to wake up from.
"Let's go, Allison, before it comes back." I heard Brian's voice said, snapping me out of my trance and bringing me into action. With my heart thudding in my chest, I nodded my head. He grabbed my hands and we ran off behind the others, into the woods.
We ran as fast and as far as we can. The sharkgator didn't follow us, but I was worried. We weren't in the clear. We had run into the woods, the opposite from where the entrance was. We didn't know the area and we were deep in the woods with no way in hell of getting out.
