âYouâre the pet pig, your whole family are pet pigs,â Xu Chaomu snorted coldly.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
What the heck, she didnât sleep well last night because of him, and now heâs acting as if nothing happened.
And he called her a pet pigâ¦
âMy whole family includes you,â someone said indifferently.
ââ¦â Xu Chaomu was at a loss for words, her lips twitching involuntarily, it seemed⦠true.
Shen Chi saw her deflated expression and the corner of his lips lifted ever so slightly, forming a meaningful arc.
âTake a walk after breakfast, itâs good for the child,â Shen Chi said.
Xu Chaomu spread some jam on her bread, noticing that Shen Chi was oddly considerate of her today; it seemed he was no longer jealous.
âAre you going to the company today?â Xu Chaomu asked.
âMhm.â
Xu Chaomu knew he usually left early in the morning, by the time she got up, he had usually been gone for quite a while.
Today, she got up early due to her poor sleep, which was the reason she was having breakfast with him.
Seeing her head bowed, he lifted his eyes to her: âDo you want me to accompany you?â
âNo need, Dabaiâs company is enough.â
âHmm, when I am free, I will help you bring Wealth back.â
âIâll go get it myself.â
âYouâre not allowed to,â said Shen Chi coldly, his sharp gaze stabbing at her.
Xu Chaomu, startled, quickly retracted her forthcoming words. This man was just being unreasonably domineering.
She was just going to pick up a dog, and she imagined that in his head, he had probably concocted numerous terrible scenarios, such that she would become flirtatiously involved with Nie Chenglang.
âDonât worry, I will bring it back for you and check out just how ugly that dog is.â
âMy Wealth is very cute, you canât talk about it like that,â Xu Chaomu said, displeased.
âCouldnât you have chosen a nicer name? Itâs so tacky,â Shen Chi disdained.
âIâm poor, so I want to become wealthy, is that so wrong?â
âNo, itâs not.â
âThat settles it then. And by the way, if you find my tastes too low-class, you donât have to stick around me and let me drag you down,â Xu Chaomu quipped unremittingly, âRight, your little mistress has quite the refined tastes: she can climb balconies, jump off buildings, get pregnant, and start fights.â
She, of course, was referring to Jian Sisi. Xu Chaomu didnât know how the woman was doing now. She couldnât understand how Jian Sisi ended up pregnant with Shen Chiâs child.
Either Jian Sisi was lying, or Shen Chi was lying.
âShe miscarried the child,â Shen Chi said flatly, devoid of emotion.
Xu Chaomu paused with her cutlery, looking up at Shen Chi.
Miscarried?
âDonât be sad, youâre still young, youâll have plenty of children,â Xu Chaomu hurriedly consoled him.
âJian Sisiâs child wasnât mine!â Shen Chi nearly shouted.
âOh,â Xu Chaomu replied, her tone light.
She knew it, Jian Sisiâs child was never Shen Chiâs.
âYouâre hoping that I father a child with another woman?â Shen Chi asked coldly.
âIâm not that jealous.â
Upon hearing this, Shen Chi became even more furious. He slammed down his fork and stood up, approaching her quickly.
With one swift move, he caught her and pushed her against the wall!
âDonât move, Iâm eating breakfast!â Xu Chaomu said angrily.
âXu Chaomu, you seem rather keen on your husband cheating, huh?â Shen Chi pressed one hand against the wall, pinning her in place.
âYou⦠you men always seem to think⦠the women outside are betterâ¦â Xu Chaomuâs voice got softer and softer, and softer.
âGet lost!â
âAlright, Iâm goingâ¦â
Xu Chaomu crouched down, and as she did, she slipped out from his grasp.
Slipping back to the dining table, she continued with her breakfast.
Shen Chi really overreacted, it was just a joke. She had forgotten that he was a man with a smaller heart than a needle.
Xu Chaomu pierced a piece of fruit cake with her fork and held it up to his mouth to appease him.
âNah, donât be angry.â
âChildish,â Shen Chi refused.
âDonât eat it then,â she said, and to vex him further, Xu Chaomu deliberately bit into the piece of cake on the fork right in front of him.
Shen Chi gave her a look and grabbed her wrist, bowing his head and savagely eating the remaining half of the cake from the fork.
Xu Chaomu didnât know whether to laugh or cry at this proud man.
After eating, Shen Chi calmed down and returned to his seat.
Xu Chaomu asked nonchalantly, âHow did her child come to be lost?â
âShe was careless,â Shen Chi said lightly, his words concise.
He didnât want to share the complicated twists and turns with her, fearful that if he did, she would worry.
For instance, he hadnât told her about the injury on his arm that resulted from his confrontation with Shen Shihan.
âWhose child was it then?â Xu Chaomu was curious.
âHer first loveâs,â he replied.
âOh, she still has a first love. Then why did she claim it was yours?â
âShe wanted to marry me.â
Xu Chaomu burst into laughter: âYou really donât do modesty. Now that sheâs deceived you, what do you plan to do?â
Xu Chaomu thought, anyone who dared to deceive Shen Chi probably wouldnât have a good fate.
âXiao Mo is handling it, itâs none of your business, eat your breakfast!â Shen Chi cast a frosty glance her way.
Xu Chaomu prodded the bread in front of her, repeating the action, then said faintly, âShen Chi, if I ever lie to you, what will you do? Will my end be very miserable?â
âIâll make sure you canât get out of bed!â Shen Chi replied coldly.
ââ¦â Xu Chaomuâs mouth twitched, damn it.
After a while, Shen Chi finished his breakfast, and Xu Chaomu slowly finished hers as well.
âShen Chi, Iâm starting work at the company next Monday, are you happy?â Xu Chaomu said.
âHappy,â the person said indifferently, his face void of expression.
âSo fake,â Xu Chaomu rolled her eyes, really, so fake.
Shen Chi casually wiped his hands and walked upstairs. How could he be fake? She would never have gotten through the last round of the interviews if he hadnât personally called the head of the design department for her.
âCome up here,â Shen Chi glanced at her.
âWhat is it?â Xu Chaomu blinked, not daring to go up easily.
âWhen I tell you to come up, you come up, whatâs with all the nonsense!â Shen Chi also had a temper.
But with Xu Chaomu, he was a lot more restrained than usual. If it were anyone else, would they dare not listen to him after being told once?
Xu Chaomu pouted, gave Shen Chi a white look, and slowly followed behind him upstairs.
Shen Chi walked ahead at a slow pace; he was waiting for her. Xu Chaomu, however, walked even slower, on purpose.
Impatient, Shen Chi turned back a few steps, grabbed her small hand with his large one, and together they went upstairs.
âSlow down, slow down, canât you be a little gentler?â Xu Chaomu muttered.
âYouâve known me long enough not to expect that.â
Xu Chaomu âtsked,â alright, alright, he had never been gentle since the day they met.
She even remembered being thrown to the ground by him, with her bottom aching for days.
Such a man, completely devoid of the gentleness towards women!
Shen Chi led her upstairs to his bedroom.
He opened the wardrobe for ties, which was filled with ties of many colors, all neatly arranged and nearly all brand new.
