Idara's POV
I carefully placed my legs in front of the other. The sounds of different animals was not really helping with how my hear was beating fast with fear.
What if a lion or tiger comes out? God knows I will just die there or at the east get a panic attack right there.
I can't even run if the worst happens and that's bad because I am sure my partner over here will just run and leave me.
We were on our way towards finding the treasures inside the forest.
Femi here said he understands the map, so he is the one leading the both of us. The map was quite confusing to me at the first glance so I just didn't argue when he said he would be the one to lead the way.
"See one, see one!" I heard Femi shout at the front.
I ran to his side and he was right a bag of some sort was lying there.
"Femi we've seen one oo."
I said excitedly a little out of breath as I put it in his bag with his back turned to me.
"I told you I understand the map." He said happily.
After zipping the bag, he continued to lead the way.
the stroll and search was quite interesting because we were talking about lots of things and it was not quite between us.
"So, you are telling me you would rather read a book than watch a movie?" Femi asked again looking at me with a surprised look on his face.
Why was it so hard to believe?
"Yes, yes oo, I love reading book. " I told him for the fourth time in a row already getting annoyed with his disbelief.
I looked at him, only to find him already staring at me and then he said
"that explains what happened in the room, I pity you."
God, see embarrassment. So, he still remembered that?
I groaned and placed my head in my hands. I guess I won't hear the end of this.
"What do you mean by that now? Have we not settled that one ni?"
I asked annoyed but he just busted out laughing again.
Why did that even happen in front of him? I shook my head and faced the rad back.
"Sorry, settle ke? like seriously I thought something was wrong with ......
Look see another one." Femi said pointing at another familiar looking bag.
I rushed there and picked it and placed it in his bag again.
He was the guy here; I can't disturb myself with carrying load. He looked strong so I guess he did not even feel it.
"Guy we are going to win this thing; I think they are giving winners a 15 marks bonus in geography or so."
I said happily and knowing my classmates they won't stress themselves with this type of thing. Since they were clean freaks and I am sure they were scared more than me right now.
I could even imagine Liz shrieking sound at any sudden movements. It would be so hilarious.
"yeah, we must win it." He replied back with determination in his eyes.
If there is something, I noticed about Femi recently, is that his act of wanting to collect as much mark as possible like he could not afford to lose a mark.
Liz wasn't lying when she said he was a genius. I got to admit he was really good.
He had the looks, brains, humor, build, all round. Who would not fall for him?
"What's your deal with wanting as much mark as possible?" I asked hoping he would answer.
"Well it's .... I guess that's how I think.
I must pass everything and all."
He said sadly.
I wish I could just swipe that look of his face. Maybe it had something to do with his parents considering what he said yesterday.
I was hoping for him to continue, and then he added.
" It's like is only when it's time to check results my dad notices me and I want to impress him at that moment and it's all bec..... Look another one. "
Why did this bag have to distract him and stop him from talking? we went there, and I put it in his bag again.
I wished he will continue but I knew that was the end of that conversation.
It was like a moment of vulnerability and he covered It immediately just as it appeared.

"Is it not enough? let's go back now. We already have five treasures." I told Femi again.
I was already tired, and my legs were aching. I guess all the eba had made me so heavy. But that did not even matter.
I already know that five would be the highest since no one I know there would want to keep on going like this.
"We still have one in this area." Femi tried to explain again.
I was already getting annoyed, what's his problem considering all our classmates, they can't go through all this stress so why is he bothering himself?
"Let's go like this, it's supposed to be here somewhere."
I rolled my eyes and just followed him. Even if I wanted to leave I do not know the way back.
As we were going, we heard a sound, I held Femi's cloth immediately.
Well like I said before, animals were here, and I can't run for crying out loud.
Femi stopped on his tracks and we both just listened to see if what we heard was real. After a minute or so we heard the roar again and then both Femi and I started looking around, bushes were everywhere.
we heard it again and this time closer.
I do not know who ran first but we both started running so fast.
I guess I mentioned I was tired, but right now I was not feeling tired at all. I could not even believe that I could run like this.
Femi held my hand as we ran, if you know this phrase
"sare Kaba kaba (run helter scatter.)"
ehn that would explain how we ran for the next ten minutes.
When I got tired, I tapped Femi's back and shouted
"stop! stop! please stop!"
We slowly came to a halt.
I dropped my bag under a tree and sat down on the bag as I finished one out of my two bottles of water.
I brought out the emergency phone and dialed the number but there was no network.
I looked around the forest again and with anger I looked at Femi. All this was his fault. If he had listened when I said let's turn back none of this would have happened.
"Check our map how are we going back?"
He looked down not answering me.
"Femi, answer me." I said getting angrier.
"The map has lost, the moment we started running I threw the map, it was just out of instinct." He explained.
Out of instinct?
What type of instinct?
I was so angry right now and I know that he could feel it even if he could not feel it then I am sure he could see it with the scowl on my face.
" what's all this English you are blowing, bring out the map. God, who told you to throw it?"
He clenched his fist and scowled back too.
" Idara , was it my fault? I thought the thing was coming after us. Was it not because of you I threw it? so I would be able to hold your hand.
If not we would have separated and the thing would have used you has a feast."
he said in one breath.
Why does the thing have to use him as a feast why not him?
I didn't talk again because I knew if I did it would not end so good. we just sat down there silently. we were both angry, frustrated and tired and I was hungry.
"Where are we now? see what you have caused. it's because of your is still in the area that we are here." I could not help but complain again.
He just sighed and sat beside me on his bag
"Idara is okay, they will find us."
I just kept quiet not even acknowledging what he just said cause if that was to comfort me, he just made me angrier.

After up to 30 minutes of sitting down quietly, I wondered if Femi was sleeping because no one was talking.
I looked at his side, he was facing up, looking at the leaves since tall tress surrounded the whole area. I stood up already getting uncomfortable with how I was sitting.
I heard something sound and then I looked up.
A branch from the tree was falling, it was falling so fast and then from fast everything turned to slow motion.
Is this how I would die?
A branch hit her on the head during her excursion. And my mum warned me all about this. How would she feel if she finds out?
I know I am exaggerating but I couldn't help it.
waiting for the impact of the branch, all I felt was Femi's embrace round my body.

He is still that guy no one knows anything about except from his friends and his family.
