The time passed by very slowly for Ahana and Neil. Nervousness filled their stomachs as they waited. Ahana wanted to get over with this meeting as soon as possible.
As the time came, Ahana and Neil headed to a park area with Ansh, Where they had decided to meet. Though the officer had suggested a more closed and isolated room, Neil didn't want to scare Ansh in any way. He remembered how much Aryan was scared after the kidnapping incident. He couldn't take a chance with Ansh on it as well.
As they reached the park, Neil and Ahana met 2 officers at the entrance. They greeted them before the officer lead them to the isolated area of the park away from other poeple and kids. Ansh had started to get a little scared seeing so many police officer present.
Officer:"It's ready Sir. We have everything prepared for today"( he said as he saw Neil)
Neil:"Okay.. just give us a moment "( He asked as he turned to Ahana and Ansh)
Ahana looked at Neil nervously as she gave him a soft smile before Neil looked at Ansh who was looking at the police officer with a slight fearful look.
Neil:"Hey buddy"(He said as he sat down)"Remember our conversation last night. Never fear anything because fear itself is scared of braveness "( Ansh nodded as he looked at Neil)"So...these police uncles will take us to Rajeev. You just have to meet them and if you want to leave tell me we will leave right away. No need to be scared or think of anything anyone says. Just think of it as a game. In the end you have to win and you will win so just stay calm and happy "
Ansh nodded as Ahana kept her hand on his head letting him know that she is also there for him. The 3 soon headed further in. They came to a stop by a tree where a bench was kept. As they came into the view, Rajeev was shown sitting on the bench with handcuffs in his hands and 2 cops standing to the left and right of him.
Rajeev looked up hearing footsteps. Neil came in his view before Ansh and Ahana. He took a deep breath looking at Ansh.
Ahana hands gripped onto Ansh's shoulders pulling him closer as her fear started to come back. Neil kept his hands on her arms trying to calm her. She looked at him with hopeless eyes while he blink his eyes in reassurance.
Rajeev:"Ansh...c..come here"
Ansh looked up at his parents, Neil blinked his eyes asking him to go forward while Ahana's hand gripped Neil's as he took her into a side hug comforting her a little. Ansh moved forward a little, still at safe distance as Rajeev smiled at him.
Rajeev:"A..Ansh...yo..you know who I am beta.."
Ansh looked back at Neil and Ahana before he turned to Rajeev. He nodded his head slowly before looking down.
Rajeev:"You do? I...I...Well I don't know what you know or think of me but beta I...I am sorry. You won't even understand at this point what i mean but i am truly sorry."
Ansh didn't say anything and just kept looking down. Rajeev looked at Ansh then at Ahana and Neil. He gave a sad laugh as he spoke further.
Rajeev:"I know how this situation must be for you all. Especially Ahana. I am still surprised you allowed me to meet Ansh. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Truly Ahana, I needed to see my son for the last time"
Officer:"2 more mins, say whatever you want."( He warned Rajeev of the time.)
Rajeev:"I guess I should get to the point."
As these words leave Rajeev's lips, everyone looked confused. In a swift motion, Rajeev's cuffed hands grabbed onto the officer near by taking his gun and pointing it at him as Rajeev cuff fell on the ground effortlessly.
Neil reflexes worked fast as he grabbed Ansh pulling him towards him and Ahana and shielding Ahana and Ansh behind him. 3 Officer rushed around the Family to protect them as they pointed their gun at Rajeev while the other officer did the same.
Officer:"Don't force us to shot Rajeev. Leave him and surrender. You have no where to go"
Rajeev:"I don't even want to"( He said dryly as his eyes looked back at Ansh, Ahana and Neil.)" Take Ansh away"
Everyone looked more confused at this command. Even Neil and Ahana stared at him in confusion.
Rajeev:"I said take him away. Far from here. Just do it. "
Neil for onces agreed with Rajeev. He nodded at one of the officer who picked Ansh in his arms.
Neil:"Beta.. stay with police uncle okay. Mumma and Papa will be right there"
Ansh:( Scared)"P..Papa what is h...he .."
Neil:"Nothing baby.. we are just playing a game remember. The ending is near. Common be a good boy and go with Police uncle. "( He nodded at the officer whi rushed off to a safe spot with Ansh while Ahana and Neil turned towards Rajeev. Neil still stood in front of Ahana shielding her. Ahana hands had automatically reached her stomach as a protective defense for the baby)
Rajeev:(Seeing ansh out of sight, he turned to Ahana and Neil)"Will you both do me a favor and try to forgive me. Neil I am truly sorry for your ex wife. She..I can say that she truly stopped me from doing the worst crime of my life. She stopped me from hurting Ansh and that mean alot to me now. I took alot away from you. I am sorry. "
Neil just stared at him trying to figure out what is going on in Rajeev's head. He looked mentally unstable at this point. At one point he is threatening another innocent live while on the other hand he is asking forgiveness fro his past crimes.
Rajeev:"Ahana..I am sorry for all I have put you through. I am happy you moved on. You deserved the world and Neil will give it to you. Neil keep Ahana and Ansh happy always. I wish the best to you both and your upcoming life."
Neil:(In frustration)"What the hell are you going on about Rajeev? Your apologizes seemed worthless as you yourself are committing the same crime again. Your threatening an innocent life again"
Rajeev:(As he looks down at the officer who he is holding at gun point)"oh don't worry. Nothing gonna happen to this fellow. I assure you that. But I need to do this. I may be a coward. But I can't..I can't live with knowing my crimes. Yes I might be running from my punishments and I am truly sorry for that but I...i can't handle it..i am sorry. I truly Am"( He finished as he pushed the officer from his hold )
The officer stumbled forward and fell on the ground while the other officers got ready to shot Rajeev in any movement. Before anyone could react, Rajeev kept the gun on his head. He looked at Neil and Ahana for the last time before closing his eyes and pulling the trigger. A loud gun shot was heard as Ahana flinched a little closing her eyes while Neil came in front of her, pulling her into his chest. The officers rushed to the body of Rajeev that layed on the ground with blood everywhere. 2 officer rushed towards Ahana and Neil.
Officers:"Sir we need to get you away now."
Neil nodded as he held Ahana and walked with the officer to the other side of the park. The Ambulance and other neccessary forces came and started to do their work while Ahana and Neil sat far at a park bench. Ahana sat quietly looking at her hands while Neil sat still as well.
Neil:(Sighed as he shook his thoughts before looking at Ahana)"S..Shona?"
Ahana:(Looking at Neil)"why neil...why can't one thing be normal in our life. It was just a meeting why...why did have to end like that."( She said breaking down)
Neil:(Pulled Her in his embrace)"I ..i am sorry shona. if i hadn't insisted this would have never happen"
Ahana:"No Neil..I...I am happy it happened. If.. if Rajeev really wanted to die, I did atleast want Ansh to meet him. This give us a closer to Rajeev's chapter. Though I do wish things didn't ended the way they did. We can't change anything."
Neil nodded as he hugged Ahana again and The 2 stayed in such position trying to soothe each other's pain before the officer came. It took about 1 hour worth of time to do some paperwork and give a statement before Ahana and Neil headed home with Ansh.
Due to the incident, Neil had called Sid to pick Aryan and Naira up as they might be late. As they reached home, Ansh's mood went back up seeing his siblings while Ahana and Neil were still quite. They called up Prabha and Sanjeev and informed them of the incident along with the other Malhotra family members. The whole afternoon went in trying to get back into a normal mood. In the evening, As per Ahana's promise, Neil and Ahana took the kids out to eat at their favorite restaurants.
As they sat on their booked table eating their ordered food, Ahana and Neil chatted with the kids as they bonded with them.
Naira:"Mumma... When will the baby came"( She asked all of a sudden)
Ahana:"Soon baby"
Naira:"I want it now"( She said as she looked at a direction)
Ahana and Neil followed her eyes to see them on a couple with a baby eating at a table near their.
Neil:(Smiled)"Princess everything comes on a certain time. Now see the baby needs to grow a little before it can come in this world na."
Ansh:"When will it grow up"
Ahana:"Soon...just few more months.. Until then we have to plan so much na"
Neil:"Yes. We need to get baby some gifts and other things like a bed when he or she will come"
Aryan:"Mumma will you also be hurt like Aarti mumma"( He said as he recalled Aarti's condition during Naira)
Ahana:(patting Aryan)"Don't worry baby, I will be fine. Now common everyone finish you food. We need to eat ice cream as well"
Kids:(Excited)"Ice creammmm"( Ahana nodded)
They all enjoyed their food before they headed to get some ice cream for everyone. The Family reached home around 10:30 when the kids were already in deep slumber in the car. Neil picked them up and put them to bed before he joined Ahana in his own bedroom.
As Neil layed on the bed his mind wondered over one thought. labor Pain. Aryan's questions had stuck into his brain. He remembered Aarti's pain and struggles during that time. It amused him how women all over the worlds endure such high level pain with a smile on their faces. People call Men Strong. He agreed Men do tend to be strong physically then most women but emotionally women were way stronger.
Neil:"Ahana.."
Ahana:"hmm"( She asked as she looked up to his face)
Neil:"Ho..how..how was it during Ansh's pregnancy. Did it hurt alot"
Ahana:(Laughs)"Don't tell me you stuck on Aryan's words Neil. I will be fine. We have to endure some pain for such a blessing to come in our life"( She said as she ran her hands over her stomach)
Neil:"I know but this blessing is coming for both of us. Why only women endure this pain"
Ahana:"Maybe because you men endure the pain of the world for us."( She said looking at him lovely)"Yes mothers give everything for their child, but a father as well struggles to give his child and wife a save and comfortable home. Everyone is important in their own way Neil."
Neil looked at the women in front of him with adoring eyes. He pulled Ahana in his arms as they snuggled. Things were finally normal. He prayed no more troubles came there way. As if now the thought of the future filled his mind. There were only 3 to 4 months left till the arrival of the baby. They had so much to prepare for. He had so much to prepare for and with everything going back to normal, he was gonna start that.
