After planning for few hours, everyone had their dinner before heading to their own room. Ahana made sure the kids slept before she headed towards her room. As she entered the room as saw Neil coming out of the washroom in his nightwear. He smiled seeing Ahana and Came towards her taking her in a back hug.
Neil:"So much happened today Ahana. But at the end everything was good. Bua ji finally realized her mistakes and apologized for them and we planned a trip. Everyone really needs this trip. Plus it's been a while since we all went out."
Ahana:(Leaning back into his warmth)"Yeah Neil. It will be fun to spend some time with everyone. Plus it been a while since I went out for vacations "
Neil:(Whispering into her ears)"More then a family trip this vacation could also be considered a small honeymoon trip for us. What say?"
Ahana:(Blushed)"H..hone..honeymoon ?"
Neil:"Yeah shona. Honeymoon. See na because of our stubbornness we miss out on our honeymoon"
Ahana:"but...but sid did lock us in a house for...a ..a mini honeymoon "
Neil:"(turning her around in his arms )"oh sweetheart I sure you also know what honeymoon really is and that my love was no where near our honeymoon."
Ahana:(Lowering her eyes as her heart beat raised hearing his talk)"Neil please "
Neil:(in a husky voice)"please what jaan?"
Ahana:"Please stop teasing me"
Neil laughed as Ahana blushed more and hide her face in his chest as he wrapped his arms around her shoulder. They stayed as such for few mins before Ahana started to feel pain in her stomach. She broke the hug and sat on the bed clutching her stomach when she felt something making her eyes widen as she rushed to the bathroom. Neil looked at her concerned and ran after her but she closed the bathroom door.
Neil:"Ahana are you okay?"
Ahana:"Y..yeah just give me 10 mins"(He heard her voice from inside)
After 15 mins Ahana came out of the bathroom in her regular night wear of a lose tshirt and and lower. Neil, who sat On the bed waiting for her, stood up and rushed towards her. Ahana was still clutching her hands over her stomach as she walked a bit slowly.
Neil:"Ahana"(He asked in a worried tone)
Ahana looked into his eyes. He looked at her pained expression then his eyes wondered towards her stomach which she was clutching by her hand. Neil looked at her understanding the problem. Ahana nodded her head as if telling him he is right. Just in seconds she was picked up in a bridal form and Neil layed her on the bed.
Neil:"You stay here I'll be back"(Ahana saw Neil leave the room and come back after few mins with hot pad and hot milk in his hands.)"Here"
Neil helped Ahana sit up as he gave her medicine from the drawer next to the bed, followed by the hot milk to help with her pain. After having the medicine, Ahana layed down as Neil placed the hot pad on her stomach to help soothe her period pain.
Ahana:"Thank you Neil.(Neil just kissed her forehead as he held her hand while she waited 30 mins for the pain to reduce)"It's good it came today. I'll be free before the vacation "
Neil:(nodded)"Is it better now?"
Ahana:"A little"
Neil:"did it come early this time? Last time I remember it was supposed to come on Friday. Today is Monday "
Ahana:"Yeah maybe due to....to stress I think"(She said pausing in between as her cramps came back for few moments )
After few mins her stomach pain calmed down and she relaxed a bit. She asked Neil to switch of the lights and join her. Neil slide next to her and slowly wrapped his arms around her body making sure not to pressure her stomach. Ahana smiled as she heard soft snores after few mins. Ahana looked at his hand which rested on her stomach and remember the first time she had her period with Neil around. It was few weeks after their marriage.
Flashback starts.....
it was around 4 in the morning when Ahana and Neil both were fast asleep. Both were sleeping with their backs to each other. Ahana felt discomfort in her stomach which disturbed her sleep. She opened her eyes and felt her cramps worsen. Ahana's eyes widen as she realized that her period started. It's was her first period after her marriage. She got up and rushed to the cabinet getting her neccessary items before rushing to the bathroom. After few mins she came out and took some medicine.
Her pain has always been the worse. It did reduce a little after Ansh's birth but still she needs medicine every time. She wanted to lay back on the bed but when she reached the bed she saw a small stain on the bedsheet.
Ahana:(In her mind)"Oh no oh no please no. Ahana you idiot why couldn't you put a extra cloth before sleeping. Neil..what will he think. This is so disgusting Ahana. I can't even clean it without waking Neil up and Neither can I lay down now."(Tears started to come in her eyes as she looked at Neil sleeping. Due to standing up her pain had worsen.)
Ahana took a wet cloth and slowly wiped the stain which lessened a little. Then she took her old cloth and covered the stain before pulling the blanket over the cloth to hide the stain. She had to wait till Neil was up and out of the room to clean it up. She went and sat on the sofa. Tears still flowed from her eyes as she sat on the sofa clutching her stomach. Period mood swing were making it hard for her to stop crying and the situation she was stuck in made it harder.
Here Neil turned a little as he heard soft cries. He frowned As he slowly looked around the room to the source of these muffled cries. He saw a figure sitting on the sofa crying. He recognized Ahana, who was sitting on the sofa clutching her stomach with one hand as she used her other hand to hide her face in.
Neil:(going towards her) "Ahana?"(he asked in a worried tone as she jerked realizing he is awake)"(Kneeling in front of her)"What happened Ahana?"
Ahana looked at Neil shock. What should she say. I mean yes they had agreed to be friends with each other few weeks back after the mini honeymoon plan sid did but still they weren't that close. Neither did she have the control to stop her mood swings. She didn't want to snap at him because of her period or something. It had only been 10 mins since she had taken the medicine. They hadn't even started to easy her pain yet.
Neil:"Ahana are you okay? What happened? Why are u crying? "
Ahana:(Wiping her tears)"N..nothing Neil you sleep I...I.. am fine"(She said trying to stand up but a sudden harsh cramp made her shut her eyes and clutch onto her stomach tight.)
Neil:"Ahana is it paining somewhere? Please tell me. We are friends right. You can share with me. Should I call a doctor? Wait "(He started to get up to search for his phone when Ahana held his hand)
Ahana:(They both look at Ahana's hand which was holding him and Ahana pulls her hands back)"A..actually it's normal..I.. I mean you don't need to call the doctor....it..just..I..."
Neil:"It's normal? Wait!(Realizing Ahana's problem)"Ahana is...(Clears his throat) I mean is it your monthly problem time?"
Ahana:(Awkwardly)"y..yeah"
Neil:"Oh...okay..do..does it hurt bad?"
Ahana:"Yes.. but I had ibrophen it should...(She shuts her eyes as the pain rolls up for few seconds)"It..should be fine in a few mins"
Neil:"Umm I don't know much about it but Aarti used to feel better with hot pad should I get you one."
Ahana:"If...if you can then please do"(She saw Neil leave and her thoughts wondered to how Neil had taken Aarti's name without a hurtful expression. She had noticed that since the time they met when ever Aarti's name cames in the conversation, Neil would get lost in a hurtful memory but now after their talk about the past, it was the first time he had talked about something related to Aarti without letting it hurt himself)
Neil:"Here"(He came back with a hot pad )"Why don't you lay down on the bed "
Ahana:(Eyes widening as she had almost forgotten about the stain)"NO NO"(Neil looked at her startled)"I..am fine here...don't touch the bed"
Neil:"(Confused)"But you will feel more better on the bed Ahana. Just wait"(He starts to move towards the bed and pull the cover while Ahana stands up and runs after him. As he pulls the cover, Ahana pulls him back causing both of the to fall on the end side of the bed with Ahana under Neil.)
Ahana:"Ahhh"(She whines as the sudden moment caused her pain while Neil gets concerned again)
Neil:(Balancing on his hands so he doesn't hurt her)"Are you.. are you okay? I am sorry a.."(They both realize there position and starts to get up when Ahana's eyes fell on the red stain which is now uncovered. Neil's eyes follow in the direction she is looking and come to realize while Ahana was so reluctant on leaving the bed be.)
Ahana:(Embarrassed)"I..I am sorry..I didn't realize when I bleed through...I...was...I..." (Tears filled her eyes again as she looked down embarrassed)
Neil:(Helping her stand up after he did himself)"Ahana it is nothing. This is a normal procedure and you don't need to be embarrassed by it. I know you didn't mean to. So don't be embarrassed"
Ahana:"But..."
Neil:"Ahana we ourselves have a daughter. We have to teach her that these things are normal but if you yourself will feel embarrassed in sharing these things with your hus..( he stopped realizing what he was gonna say) F..friend.. Then how will she be comfortable in sharing stuff with her friends or even with us. We want her to be open to us right?"(Ahana nodded)"Then you have to be a role model for her. Remember Ahana, Even though this relationship is for the kids. I am here for you. You are my responsibility and I will fulfill any duty I have to towards you so please don't feel embarrassed or shy to share your problems. ( he saw Ahana looking down still)"And I am also your friend."
Ahana looked up to see Neil smiling slightly. His words made her at ease. She gave him a soft smile and nodded her head to agree with his words.
Neil:"Good now common and sit on the sofa I'll change the bedsheets then we can sleep "
Ahana:"Neil I'll do it"
Neil:"no...you sit here"(He said making her sit on the sofa and he started to change the cover)
Ahana:"Neil atleast just leave the strained bedsheets in the corner I'll wash it tomorrow"
Neil:"I can was.."
Ahana:"No...I mean please atleast let me do this.. please "
Neil:"Alright "(He changed the cover and then They both layed down for some sleep)
For the next 5 days Neil had taken good care of Ahana. Though others might have not noticed but the small things as not letting her work much or getting the kids ready in the morning by himself. Or even getting her a hot pad in the middle of the night few times.
Flashback ends...
Ahana's thoughts were broken when she felt Neil snuggled into her in her sleep. She moved her hands through his hair soothing it as a smile came on her face.
Ahana:(In her mind)"You are really a ideal man for every girl Neil. Even when we weren't in love, you still cared for me like a gentlemen. Where most men are disgusted by periods. You want to teach our daughter to be open about it to us and the world. What did I do to deserve you"(She kissed his his hands that layed on her stomach and snuggled into him more as sleep took over her)
