Ahana, after getting ready in a red Saree, headed downstairs to see everyone present. The ladies were dressed in beautiful sarees while the Male were dressed in traditional wear. All were present at the dinning table except bua ji.
Ahana:"Good morning "
Angali:"Good morning beta. Neil Where is Neil?
Ahana:"Oh Maa actually he is sleeping "
Angali:(Frowns)"Why?Won't he keep a fast for you. Wait I'll wake him up"(Before Ahana could say something a voice spoke)
Voice:"no need mom"
Ahana turned to see Neil standing there all dressed like the other men of the house. He smiled at his mother as he sat down next to Ahana while she continued to stare at him in shock.
Neil:(Whispering to Ahana as he snaps her out of her shock)"I know I am handsome but staring at your husband in front of our family could lead you to tremendous teasing. Just a warning "(He said winking)
Ahana snapped out of her thoughts and looked around to see everyone busy within themselves. She looked back at Neil and whispered back.
Ahana:"I thought you weren't going to keep a fast today?"(She asked as her thoughts went back to yesterday's evenings before buaji came home)
Flashback...
After Ahana told Shruti and Preeti about karwa chauth and after they finished few preparations for it, They decided to rest a little. Ahana went up to her room and saw Neil who was watching news on the tv in their room.
Ahana:(As she cleaned up the room a little bit)"Neil, Shruti bhabhi was telling me that every year even the men of the house do karwa chauth fast for their wife. Apparently papa started the tradition and now Rohan bhai also does it. Preeti was saying that if Sid doesn't do it then she will make him sleep on the couch for a week.(She said smile but all she got as a response was hmm)"Neillll are you even listening to what I am saying?"
Neil:(looking at Ahana)"Huh?"
Ahana:(glaring at him)"So you didn't hear a word I Said?"(Neil gave a small smiles while Ahana sighed)"Never mind you watch your tv"(She starts to head out but stops as Neil holds her hands and pulls her towards him causing her to fall in his lap on the bed. Ahana gasps as she starts to get up but Neil stops her as he holds her waist tightly)
Neil:"Sorry"(He said softly as he looked at her)"Now tell me I'll listen" (He said as he turned the tv off)
Ahana:"nothing I was just talking about Preeti and Sid."
Neil:"Oh yeah he is keeping the fast for her right? He was just teasing her "
Ahana:"Well he succeeded for sure. Preeti was irritated"
Neil:"Yeah well I hope he can actually do it because it is his first time fasting and as we both know he is a big foody"
Ahana:"Oh stop teasing him. I know you are also a big foody"
Neil:"yeah so it won't matter for me though"
Ahana:(In her mind)"Oh so Neil isn't gonna fast. Why are you feeling sad Ahana? He is trying to move on you should be happy with his efforts. So what if he doesn't keep a fast for you. You will keep a fast for him na. Stop worrying over all this. Keeping the fast is his choice. Plus he still doesn't love me so why would he fast for me"
Neil:(Breaking her thoughts)"Where are u lost Ahana?"
Ahana:"Huh? Oh actually I was just thinking about tomorrow's fast. Neil if you are going to office tomorrow please come home on time. You have to open my fast."
Neil:" don't worry I am not going to office tomorrow "
Ahana:"Why?"
Neil:"Well because I am keeping..."(He stops and looks at Ahana before smirking a little)"Well because tomorrow is karwa chauth and dad, bhai, did all took a day of so I thought I'll also stay home and support them in their fasting"
Ahana:"Support them?"
Neil:"Yeah by eating all their yummy food in front of them. It will be fun right"
Ahana:"Oh"(She said in a slow voice)
Neil:"By the way Mrs. Malhotra I don't mind sitting like this all day but I promised the kids to play soccer today so "(Ahana's eyes widen realizing that she is still sitting on his lap)
Ahana gets up quickly and sets her dress properly before looking at Neil who was smirking her at. She blushed and rushed out of the room.
Flashback ends...
Neil:"who said I am fasting?"(He said bringing Ahana out of her thoughts )
Ahana:"huh?"
Neil:"You only asked if I was fasting right."
Ahana:"Oh yeah I mean you came down early today so"
Neil:"I just woke up due to the alarm. So I thought of eating with everyone."
Ahana:"Oh okay"
Everyone eat the food and then headed back to their room for some sleep. They still had 3 hours of sleep before they had to get up. After few hours again Ahana's alarm went off. She got up changed into a simple red saree. As per buaji's demand, Everyone should wear red whole day on karwa chauth as it symbolizes the relationship of husband and wife. So the ladies decided to wear a simple saree in the morning and change into a festive red wear in the evening. While the men are told to wear red plain kurta and in the evening a designer red kurta.
Ahana had noticed that the Malhotras celebrate every festival in a grand way. Every Indian celebrates each festival amazingly but some go that extra level to make the day memorable.
Anyways, Ahana got dressed and headed to the kids room to see them sound asleep. She did her normal routine of waking them up and getting them ready for the day. After that she, along with the kids headed Downstairs stairs to the hall area.
Ansh:"Mumma the house looks soooooo pretty today"(He said looking at the decorated house)
Ahana:"Yes Ansh because today is karwa chuth"
Naira:"what is Kawa chth ?"
Neil:(Coming from behind and picking Naira up as Naira giggled)"it's karwa chauth princess and it is a festival where girls keep a fast for the long life of their husbands and sometimes men do the same "
Naira:"Will I also have to keep a fast"
Ahana:(Chuckling)"Not so soon Naira. you are still very small"(Naira pouted)"But you can get mehendi applied to you hand today"
Naira:(Smiled brightly)"Mehendi!!!"
Ahana:"Yes. our princess will get Mehendi in her hand again"(Neil smiled as Naira grinned in excitement while the 2 boys were busy running down before their parents to the hall area.)
As they reached the hall area, Ahana covered her head with the pallu while Neil along with the kids wished good morning to everyone. Ahana didn't want any drama today as it was a special day for everyone in the house. So she quietly served everyone breakfast along with the ladies of the house and tried her best to keep out of buaji's sight.
The whole day went by quickly without any drama. Yes, Ahana along with the other ladies of the house still heard some taunts here and there but nothing major happened which Ahana was thankful for.
It was around 7 in the evening when Ahana was in her room getting ready. The kids were sitting on her bed when Neil entered with sandwiches in his hands.
Neil:"Common kids eat a sandwich because mumma and everyone will be busy for few hours and dinner is after 9 today."
Kids:"Sandwiches !!"(They sat on the sofa area as Neil fed Naira the sandwiches while Ansh and Aryan eat by themselves. In front of them Ahana was getting ready while looking into the mirror and as Neil fed Naira her sandwich, he would also admire Ahana as he stole few glances at her from time to time)
Naira:"Mumma you won't eat the sandwich today ?"
Ahana:"No baby I am fasting today na"
Ansh:"Then you can't eat the aalo ka paratha dadi made today?"(Ahana nodded no)
Aryan:" What about the samosas "(Ahana chuckled and nodded no again )
Ansh:"But mumma if your stomach starts to hurt due to hunger then?"
Naira:"Mumma if you can't eat then you can drink na. Here take my onge (Orange) juice"
Neil:(Smiling at the kids cuteness )"Naira Ansh Aryan, If you keep making ur mumma remember all this yummy dishes then how will she keep the fast. You should help her na. "
Kids:(biting their tongue cutely)"Oppss sorry mumma"
Ahana:(Coming towards them)"no problem baby and don't worry about me. See it's already 7 I just have to wait till the moon cames out then I can eat"
Naira:"Don't worry mumma I'll ask god to send the moon fast today"
Ahana:(Chuckling at her cuteness)"You do that sweetheart "(She kissed all 3 of their foreheads and starts to walk back when Neil holds her hand. She turns and looks at him confused)
Neil:"What about my kiss"(He pouted like a kid while Ahana's eyes widen as she looked at the kids)
Ahana:"Neilll The kids"(She said eyeing them but it seemed as if he didn't care)
Ansh:(innocently)"Yess mumma you didn't give papa a kissy. he will be upset na. Common give him a kiss"
Naira/ Aryan:"Yes mumma"
Neil:(Smirking as Ahana looked at the kids in shock)"Yes Ahana. I will feel sad if you don't kiss me"
Ahana blushed as she looked at the kids then back at Neil. She slowly bend down and kissed his forehead and hurried back to her dressing table. She could see Neil looking at her with a smile making her blush.
Naira:(Breaking Neil out of his thoughts)"Papa no more. I am full"
Neil:"Baby you still have 2 bites left. See your Ansh and Aryan bhaiya finished their food. Common 2 more bite."
Naira:"No papa. Please. you eat"
Neil:"Me? No..umm Ansh do you want this"
Ansh:"No papa I am full"
Neil:"Aryan baby will u eat it. Papa is already full from the parathas he had "(Aryan nodded and Neil smiled feeding him)
After that Neil headed down with the empty plates of food while Ahana dressed the kids In a traditional wear before heading down with them. As she came down she saw everything ready for the ceremony. Everyone was just waiting for the moon to come out so they can break their fast.
