It's 4th period, my class with Eli.
All I know is that the teacher is going on about some in-class project. I don't even know, nor do I care. I do care about Eli though. I'm just gonna stare at him the whole class period anyway.
The way he moves his hands when he gets flustered, or how his lips twitch into a small when he's interested in something. Ugh, I shouldn't be thinking like this. Hot, sister's boyfriend, straight, off-limits, no-no.
"Hellooo," Eli says waving his hand frantically in front of my face.
"What, huh?" I ask suddenly confused.
He breathes out a laugh, "We have a project to do, in groups of two. It's just a quick assignment that we can finish in class."
My mouth forms an O shape.
"Weren't you paying attention? Did I overestimate the number of your brain cells?" he says with delight bright on his face.
I push his shoulder playfully, "That hurts me. You give me chest pains."
Eli fills me in on what to do. We get to work on the computer, but not 15 minutes later I get tap on my shoulder from Nick.
"Hey, do you know what happened to Cameron?" he asked. I look over to realize Cameron wasn't here today. I didn't even notice. I was probably focusing too much on how tight Eli's shirt was today.
"Eli, do you know why Cameron didn't make it to school today," I ask hoping maybe he could have the answer for Nick.
Eli looks up, "Hmm? Oh he broke his foot practicing this new football skill. He broke it in a couple different places. Plus he's in a lot of pain. I don't think he'll be back for another week or so."
Nick had this straight face the whole time Eli was explaining Cameron's story. One thing about Nick is that he is not only quiet around new people, he also has this awesome poker face. You never have any idea what's going on in that mind of his. Total mystery, but I'm guessing it's something weird because once he warms up to you, he gets super crazy. Like he's on drugs. There's not one conversation you can have with Nick that doesn't involve the sentence, "Are you on drugs?"
Nick looked at us, his expression softening a bit, "So want to go out to eat with me and Jade tonight?"
"Where at?" I ask Nick.
He shrugs his shoulders, "I don't know, Chilli's."
"Fine with me," Eli says.
I speak up, "What about Robbie?"
"He's at some fancy dinner with his parents," Eli answers. Oh yeah that's right. Robbie always has to do rich people stuff with his parents.
"Should I invite Danni?" I ask Eli once we get in his car. We decided to go right after school.
He thought about this for a second, before deciding against it.
"Okay, I guess."
Once we arrived at Chili's we met up with Jade and Nick.
Finding a booth we slide in.
Eli and I on one side, Jade and Nick on the other.
Eli sat close to me; our legs touching. God it's amazing how just a little touch will drive me to the brink of insanity. His touch is mind-altering.
After a few minutes, the waitress comes by and takes our orders. We started telling funny stories and all around it was a good time.
When I was finished with my crispy fries I started to pick off of Eli's plate.
"Kade!" he choked out while slapping my hand away. "Mine. Bad Kade. Bad. Bad. Bad. Did your owner not leave enough food in your bowl?"
He flicked me in the forehead so I grabbed his wrist pretending to try to bite his hand. We started to play fight until the waitress came back.
"I was wondering if you guys wanted anything- awe you guys make such a cute couple!" the redheaded waitress said. She was staring directly at Eli and me.
"Us?" Eli asks dumfounded.
She nods her head vigorously like we were the best thing she'd ever seen.
"W-we're not a couple," I say to her.
"Ohhh, I'm sorry, I just assumed, I, may, okay, I'm sorry," she said stumbling over her words.
I laughed it off, "No, no, it's okay, I'm gay, but this one," I said pointing over to Eli, "straight as a line."
Eli just nodded as to agree with me.
The waitress bent down to whisper in my ear, "Even lines can bend." And then she walked away.
Did she just imply...
"Alright, let's spilt the bill," Eli says.
We pay the money, Jade and Nick take the bus back to wherever, and Eli says he'll just take me home.
We get in the car but Eli doesn't put the car into drive.
"Do you really want to go home?" he asks.
"Hmm?" I questioned.
"Well, I know this place, it's quiet and... I'd have to show you," he says smiling.
I narrow my eyes, "Okay, but if you take me to some cliché cliff that over looks the stars, don't expect me to not try to make out with you."
He laughs, pretty hard actually. He drove us out to a biking trail.
"Come on," he says as he leads me onto the path. Eli grabs hold of my wrist and loosely pulls me off the trail and into the woods. After traveling for a minute or two, I immediately know what he's bringing me to, just because of how beautiful it is. There's a 50 ft. tree in the middle of this clearing with vines everywhere making excellent cover. It looks like a painting. God it's gorgeous.
I smiled so big, I don't even know why, it just looked astonishing!
"This is incredible," I say in awe.
"It is," he grins. He pulls me through the vines rooted into the ground and to the trunk of the tree to lean on. He sits on the trunk, so I sit next to him, knees bent.
I huff, "This is unbelievable."
Before he has the chance to say anything his phone starts to ring.
"Hello," he speaks into his phone. "It's Danni," he whispers to me.
"I'm out here with Kade.... Yes, you're brother, who else?.... Why do you care?.....I don't know, maybe...Alright love you, bye."
"What was that about?" I ask a little bit curious.
He lifts his shoulders in a shrug, "She's being Danni."
"So, uh, what'd you bring me out here for?" I ask. I look at Eli only to realize he's staring at me.
"It's peaceful, don't you think?"
"Yeah," I say. We're so close by now our sides are pressing against each other.
He fishes in his back pocket for something, "So I heard today was your special day."
My body shakes with small laughter as I burry my face in my hands, "No. You did not get me a gift," I mumble.
"Mhmm, look up."
I look up to see a silver necklace with a simple, small crown dangling.
He looks a little unconfident, "I remember you talking about wanting to be a prince and stuff, so I got you this."
My heart was beating so fast I'm sure it was double-dutching.
He pressed on, "Do you like it?" Oh my god. Was that what he was worried about?
"Yes, yes," I nodded my head so fast, a smile breaking out on my face, obvious in my eyes.
He breathed a sigh of relief, "Turn around."
I turned around and he took the necklace and placed it on my neck, snapping it close. I faced him again, "Good?"
He nodded and spoke softly, "Yeah, good."
We looked into each other's eyes. It was almost as if our souls were boring into each other.
Eli moved toward me and this time I got to reciprocate these actions until our lips touched into one pure bliss.
