"Hey so," I began to ask awkwardly, "wanna hang out after school?" I regretted the stupid question as soon as it left my mouth. I was asking Eli to hang out with me, but the weird thing is we've never actually spent time together. Sure, he'd be at my house for my sister and we'd talk then, but never as friends. Over Spring Break, I feel like we've become closer but maybe it's my imagination playing stupid tricks on me.
He pulled one of those half smiles, his chestnut eyes sparkling, "I'd love to, but me and some of the other guys from the team last year are going out to get a bite to eat." He bit his lip, sucking it in before letting it go.
I scratched at the nape of my shirt, nodding, "Yeah, yeah sure. Right." I'm just dragging out my response, while clapping my hands together obviously making the situation more awkward.
Eli reached out and grabbed my hands, "Hey, hey," he said staring right into my eyes, "I really want to hang out with you." There was amusement dancing in his eyes and a small smile forcing its way on his handsome face. He looked around, thinking, "How about after? I'll be done around 10-11, we hang out for a little bit, I spend the night, then I'll drive to school from your house. Deal?" Where he was touching was tingling.
I gulped eyeing him shaking my head up and down, "Deal."
"Great," Eli said dropping my hands. He slowly walked away backwards grinning, it almost looked like a scene from a movie, "See you then." His dark purple vans dragging against the ground before he turns around and jogs off to his car. I couldn't help but smile. His ass looked really good in those jeans.
"Ugh I'm so bored," I said repeatedly banging my head against the wall.
Jade was over my house and we were watching Orange is the New Black. It 7 'o clock and I was bored out of my fucking mind.
"Ahhhhgggahghflah!" I screamed seeing a spider. "Holy monkey's left nut there's a spider!" I scrambled on top of my bed. Jade rolls her eyes and gets up to get one of my shoes, walks over to where I saw the spider, and kills it. "God, I'm gonna have to burn my shoe!"
Jade scoffs, "What are you so afraid of, they're literally way smaller than you."
"Yeah, well so are grenades!" I yell still shaken up. Spiders creep me the fuck out. I'm literally shaking.
"Calm down," she says slapping me. Jade gets up to go get a tissue to wipe my shoe off with.
I narrow my eyes at her even though she can't see me, "You have no boundaries."
She comes back in a second later, "Please go play in traffic."
"Please down a bottle of sleeping pills."
"Well aren't you guys just a bundle of joy." Wait. Is that?
"Eli."
He was leaning on my doorway with his legs crossed.
"What are you doing here?" I ask looking at my phone, "It's only a little bit after 7." He wasn't supposed to be here for another 3 hours.
Jade looked at us before picking up her stuff, "I've got to go anyway so see you guys."
"Bye," I said as she left. Eli waved as she walked passed him.
He walked over and sat next to me on the bed; a little too close. I mean it's not like I'm complaining or anything. He had his hands interlocked, with his elbows resting on his knees. "I uhm. I left early."
"Why?" I asked.
He sat up and looked at me, "For you."
I was speechless for a second. Did my brain just suddenly decide to go on a holiday? I could only muster up one word, "What?"
"I told the guys I had somewhere to be. And I did so... here I am."
I couldn't stop the grin from spreading across my face.
He chuckled nervously, "Hah, come on. What do you want to do?"
"Wanna watch a scary movie?" I suggested.
He nodded, "Yeah."
God his smile was so amazing. It was better than the sun. I breathed a deep sigh, "I'm going to go make some popcorn." I got off the bed and went downstairs.
I laid my hands on the counter. I was breathing deep breaths. Okay Kade, just don't do anything irrational and you'll be alright. My heart is beating a thousand times a minutes. He gives so many butterflies, it should be illegal. I pop the popcorn and return upstairs. Eli is still in the same place as before. I close the door behind me and locked because I didn't want Danni walking in and annoying me.
"I love popcorn. Give it here," Eli says while moving back on my bed by the pillows. I climbed on the bed by Eli and handed him the bowl of popcorn. He smiled and got under the covers. I follow his actions, getting under my big blanket. I pick up the remote and search Netflix for horror movies.
"Let's watch scream, I haven't seen those movies in a while," Eli says.
"Sure," I agree. I lean against the wall, my back slightly on the wall.
Eli lays down on my abdomen, sitting the popcorn to the side for easy reach. I softly bite my tongue. Instead of sitting next to me, no, he lies on me. I breathe gently, not wanting to disturb him.
"I've always loved this movie," he says. I smile. That's all I seem to be doing lately. Smiling. All the time. And I kinda like it.
I lift my hand, but stop, should I? Screw it.
I lay my hand on his head and quietly twirl his hair around my finger. He freezes for a second like he's unsure. God he's gonna kill me, I know it. But instead he relaxes.
I play with his soft brown hair. He looks up at me, making me stop what I was doing, but all he did was stare at me. He appeared as if he wanted to say something, but he never did. The way the light hits his deep cocoa colored eyes, lets you see the black specks. People say I have the piercing eyes, but obviously they haven't looked into Elias Excer's eyes.
He turned his head back to the side. I continued to play with his soft hair, rubbing my hands in his scalp. I did this for most of the night. We watched a bundle of diverse movies. In the long run, we somehow ended up with his arm around my shoulder and me snuggling into him. We were basically cuddling. I cannot explain how many twists and turns my stomach was doing. I slowly started to drift off. Loving the position I was in.
I rub my eyes. Ugh what the hell! Who is calling me at the ass crack of dawn? I check my phone to see Robbie calling me.
"What do you want?" I say in a hushed voice, trying not to wake up Eli. I tip toe out my room and shut the door.
"Channing Tatum, but that's beside the point. I need Charmed, season 8, and you're the only person I know who has it."
I stifle a laugh. I don't want to give him the satisfaction of me laughing.
He speaks up, "I heard you laughing. I heard it. Mhmm. Now give me the DVD."
"I was having involuntary chest spasms; it was a moment of weakness." I checked the time, "It's 5 'o clock. What are you even doing up so early? And yes you can have all the DVDs."
"Thank You!!! Oh and I haven't gone to sleep."
"Good Lord Robbie, bye now," I said as I hung up my phone.
This kid is going to give me a heart attack.
"Have fun?"
"Oh sweet Jesus on a stick. Danni," I say out of breath. I can't deal with all these people. It's too early to be socializing.
"So did you," she asked, pushing her hair to one side.
"What," I question slightly confused.
She crossed her arms, "You and Eli's sleepover. Did you have fun?"
I narrow my eyes, "I mean, yeah, I guess. Whatever, I'm going to go make some food."
"Oh and Eli," Danni calls out, "Happy Birthday."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," I waved her off. I didn't really care for my birthday. One year closer to death. A reminder my parents fucked 16 years and 9 months ago. I don't really care the reason, I just don't like them. I don't even think people know when my birthday is besides my family. I'm surprised Danni even knew.
I went downstairs and made two bowls of cereal. I went back to my room and closed the door with my foot. I set the mugs down on my nightstand. I shook Eli awake.
"Huh?" he says with a muffled voice. Even when he's asleep he's sexy..
"Hey," I say softly brushing hair out of his face.
He takes a deep breath rubbing his eyes moving his hands to his temples.
"Hey," he says half asleep.
"I got breakfast," I said.
He did that hot chuckle thing, "Great, I'm starving."
He slowly sat up, so I handed him the coffee mug. He looked inside and raised one eyebrow. "Is this... cereal in a cup?"
"Hey," I laugh, "Don't judge me, it taste better that way."
"Oh does it?" he laughs back.
I bite the inside of my lip. "Bottoms up," I say clinking my mug to his. I stare into his eyes. Eli's eyes are intoxicating.
"I love your eyes," he breathes out, "God they're just so blue and the depth is astounding."
"Mine?" I smirk, "Have you seen yours?"
He shakes his head, "Uh uh, mine are just dark orbs."
"No, they're like a misty brown platform of emotions," I say looking him dead in the eye.
We spent a couple more minutes arguing before taking showers and getting ready for school.
