Chapter 30 of 30

Epilogue to Prologue

As Sonya watched Namtan from afar, a quiet sense of pride settled in her chest. She would never say it outright—not when teasing was so much easier—but she loved that kid. Namtan had always felt like a younger sibling to her and Faye, someone they could protect, guide, and, of course, mercilessly bully in the name of love.

She took another slow sip of her wine, a small smile playing on her lips as she watched their friends' antics, the warmth of familiarity wrapping around her like a well-worn coat.

Then, out of nowhere, an arm draped around her shoulders.

"Hey," Faye murmured, her voice light but knowing.

Sonya smirked, tilting her head toward her. "Hey. Look at our kid," she joked, nodding toward Namtan. "Already got herself a girlfriend."

Faye chuckled, nudging Sonya's side. "Yeah, she got a girlfriend before her mom," she teased, shooting her a playful grin.

Sonya barked out a laugh, shaking her head, but before she could fire back, Faye's expression softened.

After a brief pause, she said, "Lookmhee approached me before coming here. She wanted to come, wanted to talk to you—said you wouldn't speak to her. But I told her it had to be your choice... if you wanted to see her."

The laughter died instantly.

Sonya's smile faded, her body stiffening at the mention of that name. She didn't reply, just stared at her wine as if the answer could be found at the bottom of the glass.

Faye sighed but didn't push. Instead, she squeezed Sonya's shoulder. "Whatever's happening between you two... just know I've got your back. If you want me to punch Lookmhee, I will. Even if my wife gets mad at me." Her voice was light, teasing, but the sincerity in it was unmistakable.

And just like that, something in Sonya cracked.

A sob tore from her throat before she could stop it.

Faye reacted instantly, pulling her into a hug, leading her away from the noise and laughter, to somewhere quieter, somewhere she could breathe.

They stood there for a while, Sonya's shoulders shaking as she tried to swallow back the emotions threatening to consume her. When the tears finally slowed, Faye pulled back just enough to look at her.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly.

Sonya let out a bitter chuckle, wiping at her eyes. "I don't know, Faye. Right now... I honestly don't even know what I'm feeling. It's not sadness, but it's not happiness either." She exhaled shakily, her voice raw. "I just want to be happy. Why do you and Namtan get to have that? Why not me?"

Faye frowned. "Sy—"

"Don't get me wrong," she cut in quickly, voice thick with emotion. "I am so happy for you both. If there's anyone on this earth who is genuinely happy for you, it's me. But I can't help it, Faye. Every time I see you two, living your lives, loving openly, freely... it just—" She shook her head, her voice breaking. "It makes me wonder if I'll ever have that. If I'm even capable of having that."

"What do you mean? Are Uncle and Auntie against you loving a woman?" Faye asked, puzzled. She had known Sonya's parents since they were kids—they were open-minded, loving people.

"No," Sonya murmured, shaking her head. "I don't know... I never had a girlfriend for them to meet."

Faye frowned. "So, what's the problem?"

Sonya exhaled sharply, staring at the drink in her hand. Then, in a voice so small it almost got lost in the noise of the party, she whispered, "Lookmhee didn't want me, Faye. She was just playing with me."

Faye froze. It was rare for her to get mad—let alone curse—but the anger in her voice was unmistakable. "What? That son of a bitch," she spat, her tone laced with fury.

Sonya let out a bitter laugh, wiping at her damp cheeks. "No, don't get me wrong—I agreed to this. Whatever mess I'm in right now, it's all on me. She told me she wasn't ready to commit. She asked if I was okay with it, and I said I was. And I was... but it's my fault—because I fell in love with her."

Her voice cracked on the last words, fresh tears welling in her eyes.

Faye's heart twisted painfully at Sonya's words. The weight of her pain settled deep in Faye's chest, making it hard to breathe. Without hesitation, she reached for Sonya's hand, squeezing it tightly as if trying to anchor her, to hold together the pieces that were breaking apart.

"Oh, Sonya..." Faye's voice was thick with emotion, barely above a whisper. "Why didn't you tell me?" Her eyes shone with unshed tears, the unspoken hurt of not knowing, of not being there when Sonya needed her most.

Sonya sniffled, blinking rapidly as she forced a teasing smile—one that didn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm telling you now, aren't I?" she said, her voice trembling, a poor attempt at lightness that only made the ache in her chest sharper. But even as she tried to downplay it, the unshed tears in her eyes betrayed the truth. She was breaking. And for the first time, she was letting someone see it.

Faye let out a deep sigh, shaking her head dramatically. "Do you want me to kidnap Lookmhee? It worked pretty well for Namtan," she said, waggling her brows in an exaggerated fashion, hoping to pull Sonya out of the heaviness of the moment.

Sonya blinked at her before bursting into laughter, the sound raw but genuine. She wiped the last of her tears, shaking her head. "Can we? Maybe then that son of a bitch will finally stay with me instead of flirting with every woman in Thailand."

"Hey, my wife is Thai," Faye said, gasping in mock offense as she clutched her chest.

Sonya smirked. "Sorry. Except for Yoko, I think every Thai woman has been her girlfriend. Maybe she's allergic to Filipinas," she added, crossing her arms with a dramatic pout.

Faye threw her head back, laughing so hard she had to hold onto the table for support. "You might be onto something. We should run some tests."

Sonya giggled, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, sure. Science is very important."

"Exactly," Faye said, nodding sagely. "Step one: Kidnap Lookmhee. Step two: Lock her in a room with you. Step three: Observe her reaction. If she still runs, then we'll know for sure."

Sonya groaned, playfully shoving Faye's shoulder. "Or maybe step four: You stop encouraging my bad ideas before I actually go through with them."

Faye grinned. "Too late, babe. I'm already invested."

That's when Namtan appeared, her eyes scanning the venue, searching. She had been looking for them, slipping away from the crowd, following a gut feeling that led her to a quieter, more secluded corner of the venue. And there they were—Faye and Sonya, standing together, wrapped in a conversation that seemed heavier than usual.

Relief flickered across her face as she finally found them. "Hey! I've been looking for you both," she said with a smile, but the moment she got closer and saw the redness in Sonya's eyes, her expression shifted. Concern took over as she reached out instinctively. "What's wrong?"

Sonya hesitated, stealing a glance at Faye before offering a small, knowing smile. "Nothing," she said softly. "We're just proud of you."

Namtan blinked, caught off guard. She hadn't expected that.

For a moment, she stood there, the words settling into her chest, warm and overwhelming. These two had been with her through everything—the doubts, the struggles, the countless nights she wondered if she was chasing something impossible. But through it all, Faye and Sonya never wavered. They were patient, they were understanding, and they believed in her even when she couldn't believe in herself.

Something in her heart swelled, and without hesitation, she stepped forward and wrapped them both in a tight embrace. She held onto them as if trying to pour all the gratitude she couldn't put into words into that single moment. "I love you guys," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "You know that, right? I couldn't have done this without you."

Sonya's throat tightened, but this time, the tears weren't from sadness. She closed her eyes, letting the warmth of Namtan's embrace settle deep into her bones, feeling the quiet, unshakable love between them.

"Yeah," she whispered, voice barely audible. "We love you too."

Faye smiled softly, squeezing Namtan's shoulder. "Always."

And as Sonya stood there, held between the two people who had become her family, she let out a shaky breath.

For the first time in a long time, she let herself believe—if only a little—that maybe, just maybe, she could have her happy ending too. 💙

BOOK III - Held, But Not Kept (LMSY)

She never stayed the night.

To LookMhee, love was a fleeting thing—something to be tasted but never swallowed, felt but never trusted. She had learned the hard way that permanence was a lie people told themselves to soften the inevitable goodbye. Promises? Just delicate threads waiting to snap under the weight of reality.

But then there was Sonya. Brilliant. Rich. Successful. Unyielding. A woman who didn't believe in almost or temporary love. Sonya wanted all of her—every jagged edge, every broken piece—and she wasn't afraid to fight for it.

One woman is haunted by the past. The other is relentless about their future.

But when love and fear collide, who surrenders first?

Soon.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hey babes! 💖

I'm beyond excited to announce that the third book in my GL series is coming soon! I truly hope Lookmhee and Sonya's story receives the same incredible love and support that you've shown the first two books.

Your encouragement means the world to me, and I can't thank you enough for the kindness, positivity, and passion you've shared throughout this journey.

I love you all, and I just want you to know that your patience and support have been my biggest motivation to keep writing—no matter how busy life gets. 💕

Also, as promised, I'll be publishing an adaptation of a Thai novel I read couple of months ago. I'm not sure if it's allowed on Wattpad, (my first time to try) but I loved the story and thought Grace and Oaey would be perfect for the characters, so I'm turning it into a fanfiction. The English translation was very literal, so I've been editing it—it's a long process, but worth it!

Stay tuned, and thank you for being part of this adventure! ✨😘
