There was once a time people assumed love was despicable and inevitable. It was meant to come around your life some-day. Today, when I'm holding Azalea close to me, cherishing and loving her, it makes me realize they weren't lying. Even if love wasn't inevitable, I believe Azalea and I were meant to be.
"Carson?"
Her voice was melted chocolate, with the taste of smitten honey, reaching my ears and warming me up. My heart wrung through my chest as her back pressed against my chest, my nose buried in her hair, so soft and smelt like home.
"Yes, love?"
I stroked her hair as she closed her eyes, sighing out deeply. "Something's troubling me lately." She admitted as her hand intertwined with mine. I kissed the top of her head before helping her shift around so that she was facing me. "That is?"
The ugly frown was decorating her beautiful lips that were only supposed to smile. I took her chin in the grasp of my index finger as I made her look up, locking her gaze with mine.
"What's troubling you, love?"
"I keep thinking about how unfair I was to you." Her words made me frown, what was she talking about?
"What do you mean baby, you've never been unfair to me. Having you is the fairest thing that has happened to me ever." I leaned down, our noses brushing in a loving manner.
"I never stood up for you, I ignored you. Although it was unintentional I really wish I would have been by your side, defending you." Her beautiful hazel orbs filled up with tears as I stroked her cheek, calming her down.
"Azalea, I love you. I have loved and adored you for a long time baby, and how could you have defended me when I myself, never stood up for me. It's unfair that you feel bad about this, I was partly responsible for it too."
My words seemed to calm her down as she grazed my cheek with her delicate fingers. "I love you too. You've such a golden heart Carson. You're my golden boy." She giggled as I pulled her closer, embracing her in a warm hug.
"No, I'm your floret guy, love."
