69 CyberSearch (Part 2)
I looked down and saw Mari and the other guy rushing towards the crane, âSheâs coming, I think.â
I then started to climb down the crane, making sure to avoid any sharp edges. âWhere were you?â Mari asked as she got to the top.
âI was, uh, following him,â I said as I gestured to the unconscious guy up at the top. âWhat did he do?â Mari asked. âHe was someone from the TSA that was here,â I explained. âHe was going to hurt us, so I knocked him out.â
âGood job,â Mari said as she put her hand on my shoulder. âBut that means there are more.â
âI know,â I said with a sigh. âBut weâll deal with them when they come.â
âYou know, letâs just question him and let him tell us where Rocke is and if possible, Tisiah,â Mari suggested.
âYeah, thatâs a good idea,â I said as I nodded. âBut we should probably tie him up first.â
âIâll tell the rest,â Mari said, as I began to move up the ladder once again to where the guy was.
I quickly ascended the ladder and arrived at the top of the crane in no time. I then went over to him, and he almost seemed dead. I knelt and put my fingers on his neck, feeling for a pulse. And to my relief, he was alive and breathing. But he was still unconscious.
.....
I then turned him over so he was lying on his back and started to search him for any weapons. I found a knife in his back pocket, which could be useful. I picked him up and began to move down the ladder, which was harder than I expected given how heavy he was.
But I eventually made it down and laid him on the ground. âWe need some rope,â I said as Mari looked around. Then she looked around at the big man and asked, âCan you get us some rope?â
He nodded and then went over to the nearby truck and rummaged through it before coming back with a coil of rope.
âThank you,â she said as she took it from him.
Then she started to tie him up, making sure that he wouldnât be able to escape. Once she was done, she took a few breaths. âAlright, letâs go, the team already knows where we are.â
I nodded and then picked up the guy, throwing him over my shoulder. It wasnât easy, but I managed to do so.
Suddenly, a portal opened in front of us and we ended up falling into Mr. Drailsâs office, whereas the others were already there.
Why are we always late to the party? I thought to myself as I looked around.
Mr. Drails was sitting at his desk, while the others were standing around, looking just at us. âThis doesnât look like Rocke if Iâm not mistaken,â he said as he looked at the guy I was carrying.
âNo, itâs not,â Mari said as she shook her head. âBut itâs one of his minions. We could question him.â Mr. Drails nodded and then said, âPut him in the chair.â
I did as he said and sat the guy down in the chair. Then Mr. Drails slowly got up from his chair and came over, looking down at him. âWake up,â he said in a cold voice.
Suddenly, the guyâs eyes snapped and he looked around frantically. âTalent...â September muttered under her breath.
âWhat?â I asked, confused.
âHe has the talent of being a sleeper,â she explained. âItâs a rare talent that only a few have.â
âSo, he can put people to sleep?â I asked, still confused.
âHe can wake them up with just a calm voice,â September said. âHeâs done it before.â
The TSA agent looked around confused before his eyes landed on Mr. Drails. âWho are you?â he asked in a shaking voice.
âThatâs not important, whatâs important is that Iâm gonna ask you a few questions,â he said in a cold voice. âAnd if you donât answer them, then Iâll make sure that you never wake up again.â
The guy shuddered a bit, but anger infused his eyes. âGo ahead and ask your questions,â he spat out.
âWhere is Rocke?â Mr. Drails asked in a cold voice.
âI donât know,â he answered.
âWrong answer,â Mr. Drails said before he hit him with a shockwave that sent him flying out of the chair and into the wall.
He slid down, unconscious once again.
âWell that was helpful,â September said sarcastically.
âHeâll wake up again,â Mari said as she looked at him. âBut itâll take a few minutes.â
Suddenly the agent woke up again, gasping for breath. âI told you I donât know,â he said in a shaking voice.
âWhere is Rocke? And donât try to be dumb, because you were literally in a site that contains something heâs trying to steal,â Mari said.
âI... I donât know,â he said again, looking down.
âWell, do you know where he could be?â Mari asked.
The guy shook his head. âI- I donât know anything,â he said in a trembling voice.
âCan you predict where he may be?â Mr. Drails asked. âAnd I donât want to hear another âI donât know.â
The guy shook his head again. âI donât know, I already told you that,â he said pleadingly.
âFine,â Mr. Drails said with a sigh, before punching him in the face, knocking him out again.
After a moment the agent woke up again, looking dazed. âW- what happened?â he asked, confused.
âYou tried to lie to us,â Mari said plainly. âWhere is Rocke?â
âI donât-â He saw Mr. Drailsâs fist coming towards him and he flinched, but Mr. Drails stopped just before hitting him.
âI suggest you start talking,â he said.
âAnd if I donât?â the guy asked, trembling.
âThen Iâll make sure that you never wake up again,â Mr. Drails said with a chilly voice. âAnd we will torture you until you donât blink again.â
âUh...isnât that a bit too harsh?â I muttered, but no one heard me.
âOkay, okay!â he shouted. âIâll talk, Iâll talk!â
âGood,â Mr. Drails said as he let go of him. âNow tell us.â
âI donât know how you guys know about the Cybertron, because itâs the only thing I can guess you guys were there for. It isnât here, yet. So Rocke was waiting until they were going to transport it from overseas in a cargo boat. But itâs heavily guarded, and I mean heavily. If you get to Cuba fast enough, you should catch him,â he said.
âHmm,â Mr. Drails said, rubbing his chin. âThatâs not a bad idea.â He looked at September and Mari. âWhat do you two think?â
âSure,â September said. âIâm ready.â
âWhat about you, Connor?â he asked me.
âI-uh... I donât know,â I said, feeling a bit out of place. âI mean, I want to, but I get seasick easily.â
âWell youâre gonna have to get over that,â Mari said. âBecause weâre going to need all the help we can get.â
âOkay,â I said. âFine.â
âIâll go tell Nikki,â September said before she left the room.
Mr. Drails looked at the agent who was now shaking in fear. âYouâve been helpful,â he said. Then he looked back at Malachi. âHand the prisoner over to my unique interrogating chamber, and please press the button.â
âO-okay,â Malachi said, seeming a bit creeped out as such a use for the button.
After he left, Mr. Drails turned to look at me. âYouâre going to have to be brave, Connor,â he said.
âI know,â I said with a nod. âIâll try my best.â
He nodded before he gestured for us to leave.
As we walked out, I couldnât help but wonder what the âunique interrogating chamberâ was. And I donât think I want to know either. Unless it was the one where we questioned that âRobertâ guy. I hope it wasnât that one.
