196 A Talk with Agent Nelson
September acknowledged in agreement, but her face was filled with concern and worry as she took a deep breath before saying: âWe should look for him.â
âHeâs got to be around here somewhere,â Nikki agreed as she shook her head and began walking away from the apartment, towards the street, as she glanced back at Tisiah and me. âWe canât let Dr. Fletcher die for nothing.â I sighed, âHe probably already escaped from the apartment building, and heâs probably going to try to go after the others.â
âWell, we need to get back to the FBI base quickly,â Nikki said, looking at us worriedly, âWe need to tell them what happened here.â
âI think they already know what happened here,â I muttered in confusion, as I watched her begin walking away from me, with a serious expression on her face and eyes filled with worry. She began to pace around quickly, before she abruptly stopped and took a good look at me.
âHas someone told Agent Nelson yet?â she asked, looking over at me as she rubbed her forehead with her hand and began walking again.
âAbout what?â I asked as I watched her walk away again.
âAbout what happened here,â she said back in a quick tone. âWe need to get there quick!â

âIâm sorry, what?!â Agent Nelson screeched loudly once September told her the story, while she was seated in her office with the other FBI agents around her and the news on the TV screen. We were back in the FBI base, inside of Agent Nelsonâs office. Her eyes were filled with worry as she looked at September in shock. âHeâs definitely going for the others,â she said, rubbing her chin, âI donât know how he managed to get away.â
.....
âHe probably escaped from the building before we could get there,â Nikki said as she sat down next to me, âWe need to get to the others fast.â
âWe do, call Agent Max would you Nikki,â she ordered faintly, as she held her phone out. Nikki nodded, as she picked up her cell phone and called Agent Max.
âYes maâam,â he answered almost immediately, âYes, weâll be right there.ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âWhere is he?â Agent Nelson asked, once Nikki closed her phone. âIn his dorm,â she responded back to her, as she rubbed her chin again.
âWe need to move fast,â she said, âWe have a lot of people working on this case right now.â She sighed as she looked over at me, and then she got up and checked her watch-which in a matter of seconds, Agent Max showed up inside of her bright room. âWhoâs the next person on the list?â Agent Nelson asked him promptly.
âUh, from what I can see,â Agent Max said as he put on his glasses. âA scientist by the name of Bob Whitehead.â
âBob Whitehead?!â Agent Nelson asked in shock, âYou mean Dr. Fletcherâs assistant?!â
âI believe so,â Agent Max replied, âAccording to our information.â
âI want you to find where he is, and quickly,â she said as she looked at him. âI want an address.â Agent Max nodded in a quick fashion, and he left the room. Agent Nelson sighed with a deep breath, before leaning back in her seat with her eyes focused on me. âMalachiâs alright?â she asked suddenly, as she noticed my eyes widen from her statement.
âUm...yeah,â I responded with a nervous smile.
âDonât worry about it,â she said as she sat back down in her seat with a smile on her face, âI knew he would be.â
âHeâs a strong guy, very brave,â I said with a smile, and she followed after me, before turning around and facing me.
âYouâve known him for a while?â she asked as she crossed her legs on her desk. As I nodded in agreement, I smiled at her and looked into her eyes. I shrugged and gave a little chuckle before she crossed her hands. âI know you seem quite a bit scared of me, since I did sort of work with Rocke when searching for you, I still wonder who killed that body inside that bed,â she said with a little sigh, âYou have nothing to fear from me.â
âWell...I...donât know,â I began. âI was just really worried about you.â
âOh really?!â she said back with a sarcastic laugh. âTotally true, definitely.â There was a distinct sarcastic tone in her voice as she spoke. I could only laugh with her at that point, but then I glanced around her office and saw the other agents were laughing with us. âSo you were just worried about me?â
âYeah,â I responded as I smiled.
âThatâs nice,â she said in a sarcastic tone once more, before she leaned forward and looked me in the eyes, âDo you know what theyâre going to do if we find him?â
âWhat do you mean?â I asked back with curiosity.
âWhat are we going to do with him?â she asked. âWeâre going to arrest him and bring him in for questioning.â
âArrest him?â I asked, as I shook my head from side to side. âWhy would we arrest him?â
âWeâre going to interrogate him for information,â she replied with a smile. âWho are we talking about?â I asked in confusion, as she leaned in forward, her voice lowering down into a serious tone once more.
âWho do you think?â she asked back with an even deeper frown on her face.
âDr. Whitehead!â I exclaimed in realization, feeling a bit embarrassed by my slow encounter. Agent Nelson chuckled at my sudden realization before she gave a nod in understanding. âI guess that means heâll be taken to some other location for questioning?â I asked her, as I looked around the room again. She nodded once more, then she leaned back in her seat.
But then I heard footsteps rushing towards the office once again, and we all turned around. âAgent Max,â she said, seeing his heart pounding. âI found an address, but heâs actually moving.â
âWhat do you mean? Like heâs inside a car?â September asked and Max nodded. âAnd there are other cars that are behind him. I think itâs Dr. Mord.â Surprise and shock folded into our faces, before Agent Nelson grabbed her phone and dialed a number, as she spoke quickly. âI need backup now.â She looked back at me and then at Tisiah and Nikki, as her eyes glazed over into worry.
âI want you guys to get there and find them. I donât want Dr. Whitehead in this manâs grasp.â
âYes, maâam!â I said, as we booked it out of her office.
âDr. Mord is working though!â Tisiah said and I nodded exceptionally with him, as we walked down the halls of the FBI base at lightning speed.
âHe must have Dr. Fletcherâs old research on that virus,â September replied with a serious face as well. âWe need to hurry up quick before we see a dead scientist again.â We quickly made our way to the garage, seeing a variety of cars that we could take. âWhich one do you wanna take?â Nikki asked September as she shrugged, and I pointed at a black car in the corner of the parking garage. It was a large vehicle and I thought it was pretty cool.
âYeah, this one!â I said as I opened the back door and helped her inside.
âIs this a Camaro?â Tisiah asked, looking at the slick colors that bounced off his eyes, as he glanced from the back to the front of the vehicle.
âItâs a Corvette ZR1,â I responded back with a grin, as he got in as well and turned his head from the back to the front. âWell this thing is a beauty!â he said with a wide grin, as we pulled out onto the street and made our way out of the parking garage.
âThis thing is awesome!â he exclaimed with a smile.
âYou have no idea,â Nikki said with an impressed look on her face as she looked at the vehicle and then out of the windshield at the city around us. September pressed her earphone, before she spoke, âMax, which street are they at?â
âUh...street in Las Vegas,â he muttered as a bunch of keys were clicked in a matter of two seconds, before the car began accelerating hard as I took a deep breath, and then Tisiah let out a yelp as I turned to him with a big grin.
âI know you guys can handle it,â September said back with an amused face as I looked at her. âWhatâs the street Max?â
âThis street right here: âThe Strip,â Max answered back quickly, and we sped up to a hundred miles an hour in mere minutes. The wind was rushing through my hair and I held on tightly to the seat in front of me. September then turned to a quick left, drifting to an open lane, and we accelerated once again as she held on to her seat and grunted in pain. We had gone from zero to sixty in only three seconds or so, as we continued to drive down the highway.
âAny sight on them September?â I asked, as she continued to move through the lanes. The engine roared as she moved, and each turn result in a little screech. âNot yet,â she quickly replied, as she glanced over to the side and watched the other cars on the road pass by us.
âHold on!â she screamed as she steered her Corvette into the left lane, cutting off another car and forcing them to swerve around us, before she slammed on the gas and cut into another lane.
