175 Getting Ready
âWell, they kind of look scary, to be honest,â Tisiah said, looking at them as we walked into the room, âbut I guess theyâre just here to help.â
âI think we should be more worried about what they might do if we fail,â I said, âbut they donât seem like bad people.â
âWell, of course not,â I said, looking at Tisiah, âweâre fighting together, arenât we?â He gave a small laugh as she nodded and smiled at me. âWeâre fighting for the same purpose, to protect people, so we canât be bad people.â I nodded and smiled back at her.
âAre you sure?â I asked, looking at him in shock as he looked at me with a frown.
âIâm sure,â Tisiah replied as I looked back at him, âtheyâre here for us, for our sake, and theyâre here to help us, not hurt us.â âWell with them looking like that, I might as well run away,â I joked, and Tisiah smiled as he patted me on the back and gave me a wink.
âI guess so,â he said with a sigh. âI donât know whatâs going on with you lately, but Iâm glad youâre back.â
âWhat makes you think I wasnât in the first place?â I returned to him as he chuckled.
âWell, youâre too normal for that,â he said, but I knew what he meant. I was acting crazy, but I wasnât in my right mind. I wasnât there in my right mind any longer. But I knew that I needed to be strong and get my mind together before I went back home to deal with all the problems in my life.
I glanced at September and saw her staring at me as I smiled back at her. She smiled back at me and then turned around and walked into another room with the others as I took a deep breath and started to look around at everything in the room. The room was filled with a bunch of cameras, computers-you name it and it was in this room, but it was all working as well. There were tons of monitors in the room with information scrolling along them, and I figured that they were probably monitoring us right now and seeing who was on our team.
.....
I looked at the monitor closest to me and saw a map of the area around us as well as the convoy that was on a different window. I turned to the camera that was in the room with us and saw B talking to someone.
âSo you see here,â B was saying as he pointed at the screen, âthis is our base where theyâll take off from.â He turned to look at whoever he was talking to and pointed at something else on the map. There were cars and buildings that encircled the area, as if it was a whole canyon of the same company and they were taking off from it. âThere are only ten cars that will be on this convoy,â B said with a smirk on his face, âand those ten cars will take off from their base.â
âWould we follow them?â Malachi asked, and B nodded as he walked over to one of the other monitors that was on Masaruâs house.
âYes, because if we lose them, then weâll never get a chance to get to them,â B said as he nodded at something else on the screen. âThat is why we need to get them before they can take off from the airport.â
âYeah,â Malachi said, looking at everything around him in the room, âso where is it?â B looked at another map and then pointed to it on the screen. It was a building in a city, which was nearby. âThat is where theyâll park their car for a while and take off from there. This is a building that is close by the airport, so men would pour out from that building and so forth.â I nodded, almost overwhelmed by the amount of information they had and how organized they were about this mission.
âBut why would they want to go to this place?â September asked, with confusion written all over her face.
âThey will probably go there for security reasons,â B explained, âbecause if we attack them, then we could possibly lose them and have them escape from our hands. So we have to make sure that we get them there and keep them there until we are able to attack them.â I nodded again.
âThat makes sense,â Malachi said with a nod, âbut how do we do that?â
âWell,â B said, âweâll need to get there before they can leave that building. So we have to make sure that they donât get away.â I nodded as B walked back towards us.
âSo what do you guys think?â he asked, and Malachi looked up at him.
âWhat do I think?â he asked. âI think that this is going to be a hard mission.â
âWell, letâs see if youâre right,â B said as he pointed at another screen. âWe got men that are surveying this area as we speak, and we got eyes on Maddie Cone so that we can arrest her once her plan fails.â I turned around and saw that B was looking at the monitor that had Maddieâs image on it.
âWeâll get her,â Malachi said, and B nodded as he continued to watch the screen. âTrust me, we will.â
âI hope so, because if not-weâre all dead,â Nikki said, as the team turned around, looking at her. âI know itâs harsh to say it like this, but we have no chance against this convoy.â
âHow could we not?â I asked, but then realized something. âWe donât have any weapons?â I asked. B shook his head. âWe do, but they have loads of ammunition, and we can only use our wands. But you donât particularly use wands against a gunfight,â B said.
âBut how are you going to stop them?â I asked as B smiled and looked at us.
âItâs not going to be easy,â he admitted, âbut weâre going to do what we always do: weâre going to fight for what is right.â
âHeâs right about that, so when are we gonna start following them?â I asked, looking around at everyone. Everyone was silent as they thought about it. âWell?â I asked again, and they all nodded and looked at me.
âWe have ten minutes until they take off,â B said as he looked at the monitor with the map on it. âWe need to set up, and weâre getting some intel on her speech as we speak,â B said. Unexpectedly, static began to blare itself through the speakers, until I could hear Maddie Coneâs voice faintly, â... fools who have tried to stop me in the past.â The voice faded away as the static returned once more.
âThat was weird,â Nikki said, looking at the speakers in the ceiling. âI thought theyâd been disconnected.â B turned to glance at her as everyone started to look at one another with concern on their faces.
âIs that what she just said?â I proposed, as everyone shrugged.
âShe said a lot more than that,â Malachi said with a frown as it filled the room with static again. But then her voice began to clear up once again, her voice sounding harsh and determined, âFools who have tried to stop me in the past, I have returned to take what is mine!â
âWhat are they doing?â I asked as everyone looked back at me with confusion on their faces.
âI donât know,â Malachi said as he shook his head, âbut it doesnât sound good.â
âAlright then,â I said as I looked at the monitor with her on it.
âYou see, the YMPA and its little goons have continued to intercept us on our way, hinder our victory, arrest our goal, prevent everything weâve worked for. But this time, we have something up our sleeve,â she said, and then continued with a smile on her face. âSo you fools of the YMPA,â she continued with a smirk on her face, âI have come for you.â The room suddenly became silent as everyone waited for whatever was going to happen next.
âUh...â Malachi muttered, as fear and marvel were the only thing expressing in this room, and everyone was staring at Maddie Coneâs image on the monitor as she smiled at us. âShe looks pretty confident.â
âYeah,â I said as I turned my attention to B.
âWhatâs happening now?â Nikki asked. âIt almost seemed like a declaration of war.â
âYeah,â I agreed, looking now at the black screen, which had an image of Maddie Coneâs face on it with some writing below it that I didnât understand, âsheâs basically saying that she wants to kill us all.â
âAnd she just told us she would do that?â one of the agents said. âPretty much,â September responded, looking at us as she sighed, âsheâs not going to stop until weâre dead or she is.â
âThatâs pretty scary,â I said as I looked at September. She smiled as I looked back at her and nodded her head. âThatâs very, very scary,â she said. âBut we got her, weâll win.â I nodded, trying to feel confident, but I knew deep down that it was hard. We had a tough fight ahead of us.
âLetâs go then,â B said as he turned around and walked out of the room, âwe need to get ready.â
