After two week of fake relationship, things got a little more complicated. Because Angela and Lottie didn't hang out outside of school. Like really not. And many people began to suspect that maybe this relationship was not so real as they might think.
Besides the fact that we have never seen them kiss or even hold hands. Lottie was still behind Angela not far behind and that was it. The problem was that Lottie liked being around Angela. She didn't ask for more than that. Just be by her side and be able to stretch her out to talk, even if it's to complain. And the only times we saw them close were their daily fights to get the blonde into the car.
So Lottie did what she knew best. Go ahead without thinking about the consequences. Lottie was going to prove that she and Angela were good together by inviting the blonde to Jeff's party. Even if they in reality weren't.
And with the same confidence as the first time she came to ask her something, she climbed up to her window. To her surprise it wasn't closed. And she slipped into her room with a little difficulty due to her height.
But when she got up, a scream rang out. Something hard hit her head and she winced in pain.
She turned and her eyes widened. Angela was only in a towel and her hair soaked in front of her.
"What are you doing here !" She cried out, threatening her with her hair dryer.
"I-I-" She stammered, taking a step back. "I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come to a party with me !"
"I have a fucking door !" She replied by throwing a piece of clothing over her head to block her vision. "Turn around you pervert !"
Lottie immediately turned around, inwardly thanking the top for hiding her flushed face. She hadn't seen that many, but just seeing the girl with her hair down and wet had completely mesmerized her.
Angela quickly put on her clothes and picked up the brush she had thrown at Lottie's head to brush her hair with. "Which party are you talking about exactly ?"
"Jeff's. It's tomorrow night." She answered awkwardly.
"Why do you want me to come ?" She chuckled as she tied her hair.
"B-Because we're girlfriends."
"I don't want to go there. Jeff is an asshole." She said as she ripped off the top of Lottie's head to put it away. "And I'm not supposed to be your girlfriend out of school."
"I can pay you if you want-"
There was a silence. Then Lottie felt someone climb onto her back and Angela slap her hairbrush on her skull multiple times.
"Pay me to accompany you ? Do you realize how you sound !" She continued to hit her as Lottie winced in pain each time trying to dodge her as best she could.
"I'm sorry ! I'm sorry !" She screamed as she tried to get the girl off her back.
Suddenly a knock is heard. "Angela ? Why are you screaming ?"
"Shit. That's my brother." She whispered as she quickly got off Lottie's back and threw her into her closet.
"There was a spider !" She responded by picking up her brush again.
"Do you want me to call dad to kill it ?" He offered, only opening the door to let his head stick out.
"No it's ok I've already done it." She said while pretending to throw something that was stuck to the back of her brush in the trash.
He nodded and closed the door, she listened to his footsteps and heard him coming down the stairs.
She sighed in relief and went to her closet. She opened it and found Lottie with one of her sweaters in her hand.
She made a face. "I give you three seconds to get out of my room. Or my brother will cut off your finger."
Lottie stormed out the window and a falling sound was heard.
Angela sighed. "Because in addition she's clumsy."
She put her hands on the windowsill and poked her head out. "Are you alive ?"
"Yeah. I think."
"Cool. Bye Lottie."
----------
Paul was starting to like his daughter's new friend. She was funny to see every morning waiting in front of the door nervously fiddling with her fingers. While Angela was complaining about how early she was. Then when she opened the car door for her and the blonde purposely walked around to open the door on her own. And how respectful she was with him and didn't dare call him by his first name Paul, almost out of fear.
But that morning was Saturday. And Paul was surprised to find Lottie on his doorstep with flowers and chocolates.
He raised a curious eyebrow and stuck out his finger indicating to the girl to wait a little while. "Angela ! Your friend is here !"
Footsteps were heard on the stairs and Angela came up behind her father. She turned pale at the sight of Lottie.
"So what do you want so early in the morning Charlotte ?" He smiled gently as he picked up his newspaper.
"I wanted Angela to come with me to a party-"
"And I already said no. Goodbye." Angela cut her off, trying to close the door.
Paul stopped her and gently pushed her aside before turning back to Lottie. "If these chocolates are for me, I'm forcing her to accompany you to this party."
"Dad !" She scream indignantly trying to push him too but with the little strength she had she was just massaging his shoulder.
"It's a fair deal." She smiled as she handed the chocolates to the man.
Paul nodded in satisfaction and hit Lottie's side with the newspaper before stepping inside quickly.
"Buying my father ? Really ?" She raised a doubtful eyebrow.
Lottie shrugged and handed her the flowers. "It's white roses."
"You can keep them." She answered nastily. "And that cardigan makes you look like a grandpa."
"I can take it off if you want-" She started taking off a sleeve but Angela stopped her immediately.
"Stay as you are, it's fine." She says snatching the flowers from her hands. "And next time get me some magnolias."
"So there is a next time-"
"Let's not skip the steps." She rolled her eyes as she closed her door.
----------
"You'll see we're going to have fun !" Lottie said excitedly taking her hand.
Physical touch.
Again.
Being in a relationship with someone required too much of that stuff. And that made Angela cringe. She was really doing this for Lottie, she would never accept this for anyone else.
Be careful, that doesn't mean she's attached to her. She looked just too desperate that day.
"I already need a drink." Angela grumbled as she followed her into the house.
Lottie led her into what appeared to be the kitchen, greeting people she knew as she passed.
Angela had choose for a black top revealing her stomach, and bell bottom pants, black converse. In other words, she was staying as usual, because she didn't want to be here.
A tap on her shoulder snapped her out of her thoughts and Lottie handed her a red cup.
Alcohol.
Nice.
"What did you put in this ?" She asked defensively, pushing it against Lottie's chest.
She shrugged with a shy smile. "We should have a safe word by the way."
Angela took the cup and smirked. "So you can protect me ?"
Lottie felt herself blush at the tone of her voice and nodded.
The blonde laughed slightly as she took a sip from her cup and led Lottie through the kitchen into the living room. They both sat down on a couch, a random song from The Weeknd started playing.
Lottie put her arm around her shoulders and Angela immediately gave her a look.
She pinched her arm but the taller girl just pursed her lips before smiling playfully.
"You hurt me when you don't let me be close to you like that." She said smugly, leaning down to reach her ear.
"You're gonna have to get used to it Matthews, we're not really together. Remember ?"Â She responded by running her hand over her thigh.
"Even if it's not true, the girlfriend in me doesn't like you pushing her away." She replied now close enough to her ear for the blonde to feel her breath on her skin.
"Well the girlfriend in me thinks you're too clingy." She said in a serious tone, removing her hand from her thigh to cup her chin between her fingers.
Lottie melted at the touch of her fingers, her pupils dilating as the blonde kept contact between their eyes.
Millions of thoughts flashed through her mind.
Act normal.
Act normal.
Act normal.
Angela cut her off from her thoughts by nudging her. "I give you three seconds to take your arm off-"
Lottie rolled her eyes and removed her arm causing the blonde to giggle.
"I'm going to get myself a beer." She pushed away Lottie's chin before standing up. "I'll be right back."
She stepped forward and turned one last time with a menacing finger. "Don't roll your eyes at me."
Lottie sighed, tilting her head back in false annoyance at her words.
Then someone sat down next to her and she looked up quickly.
Shauna Shipman.
She looked angry, she sighed as she sat down. And she was staring straight ahead with a look of despair. Lottie looked in that direction and saw Jeff and Jackie dancing. She frowned in confusion, why did she look so upset about that ?
"What's up ?" Lottie asked, drinking from her own cup.
"It's-" She took a deep breath and shook her head. "Nothing at all. What's up with you ?"
"I don't know, not much new." She shrugged. "I'm glad Angela came with me."
"Oh yeah." She chuckled as she gave her a meaningful nudge. "We've seen the two of you fight every time after practice, it's kind of funny."
"I'm sure it's just temporary." She chuckled too, taking another sip from her cup.
"She really seems to hate it when you play sports. What did she do to you on Tuesday ? She sprayed deodorant on your face." She laughed and Lottie blushed at the memory.
"I can handle this." She nodded. "She wouldn't be my girlfriend if it really bothered me."
"In any case, you're very patient, I could never have remained as calm as you were when she put her already chewed gum in your hand." Shauna said tilting her head to the side.
"She was just trying to tease me." She certainly retorted with a smile.
She looked around and smirked. "And now what is she trying to do ?"
She pointed to Angela in the distance who was talking with a guy. He leaned down and said something in her ear making her laugh.
Lottie immediately felt her fist clench and she bit her tongue to keep the jealousy from rising in her throat.
She was trying to repeat in her head that it was fake, that she shouldn't be so upset but she couldn't help it.
He put his hand on her hip and his thumb touched where she was pierced.
Lottie thought her cup would explode in her hand. An inverted euphoria coursed through her blood as she stared at Angela smiling at the guy.
He put his other hand on the other hip and she put both hands on his shoulders as if to take support.
Lottie stood up as if what she saw had struck her with lightning.
She approached dangerously and once again, rushed without thinking about the consequences.
She closed her fist tightly before putting a huge punch in the jaw of the guy.
He fell to the ground with a thud.
Angela gasped and brought two hands to her mouth. "Barry, oh my god !"
Lottie stepped on his hand and a crack sounded. Everyone gasped in horror.
She grabbed Angela's wrist violently and stormed out of the house without another word.
---------
Lottie had been parked for a while in front of Angela's house. But she hadn't come out. All the way there was dead silence. And even now it was.
The two were sitting in silence. Waiting for the other's words, which may never come.
Angela was still breathing hard in shock at what she had just seen. She had never seen the tall brunette like that, her eyes were black with anger. And it almost sent shivers down her spine.
And Lottie who were squeezing the steering wheel hard in her hands, knowing very well that she could have done worse to this moron who dared to touch Angela in this way.
Perhaps even this silence was heavier than words in this situation.
But Angela decided to break it.
And in a small voice she caught Lottie's attention. "Why did you do that ?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know why you attack people violently ?" She asked raising her voice slightly.
"Why did you let him put his hands on you ?" Lottie asked back dryly.
"Oh because it's my fault now ?" She scoffed and licked her cheek.
"No it's not. That's why I hit him." She whispered looking away while chewing her lip.
"I'm pretty sure you broke his finger." Angela responded immediately, running a nervous hand over her face.
"I'm pretty sure I should have broken all his fingers." Lottie replied seriously, shaking her head.
Angela remained silent and simply got out of the car.
Lottie sighed and rested her forehead against the steering wheel.
It was definitely not a good night.
