Once Gordon finished grilling all of us, we ate in silence. Yeah, Elijah and Silas got an earful too. You could cut the tension in the air with a knife. Noah wanted to retaliate but he thought better of it, not wanting to escalate the argument.
I was a newbie, but I could easily see how these three royal goblins could get on Gordon's nerves. They were stubborn, arrogant and snooty. I was afraid soon I'd be in his shoes too.
Noah was never bad to me, my brother or the guys (to an extent with the guys). Not the same could be said about others. Gordon was right, he was kind of a jerk. They all were. And I did overlooked it because I was so enamored by my boyfriend.
When the lunch ended we all were out of our seats in a blink. No one was interested in continuing the awkward silence. I saw Elijah tailing Gordon like a lost puppy as we walked out of the lunchroom.
"Gordon's really upset you threatened Abigail to keep quiet about us," I said to Noah as we headed for our lockers. "She's his slayer. Is that why?"
Noah shrugged.
I narrowed my eyes at his nonchalant attitude.
"Gordon's father picked her out to look after him when he left Wru' via to be with Elijah here," Noah told me. "Abigail was chosen as Gordon's protector, much to his dismay, because her ancestors are from Wru' via. Though I suspect this charade is more to keep an eye on Gordon than to protect him. His father knows Elijah won't let a scratch come to his mender prince."
"In spite of not wanting her as his slayer, Gordon still thinks she's his responsibility," I stated, understanding the dynamic. "Gordon's right, you know? You shouldn't have gone after her before going through him."
"Abigail might lack in strength, but she's got keen eyes. I didn't expect her to find about us, at least not that soon." He looked at me. "I don't know where her loyalty lies, with Gordon or his father. I didn't want to take the risk of her babbling about us to anyone. If threatening and intimidating her gets the job done, then why not?"
I might not like Abigail very much, but I also didn't think she deserved to be at the end of Noah's wrath.
"I still think you should've first brought it all up to Gordon." We reached my locker and I took out the books and notes for coming classes. "I understand where he's coming from."
"I didn't think it was necessary," Noah said, leaning his shoulder against the wall of lockers, "I still don't."
"Stop proving Gordon right that you're a jerk."
He frowned. "Don't take the stuff he said by heart. He was just angry."
I frowned too, before sighing. After last night, I didn't have it in me to be mad at him. "Let's get to class."
"Do you want to ditch and go somewhere else?" Noah suggested.
"I'm supposed to be angry at you," I sulked.
"But you're not. And I'm not in the mood to attend classes."
"Then go by yourself," I said halfheartedly, shutting my locker. I knew I wouldn't be paying much attention to classes either.
"You know after listening to Gordon mope about how much of a meany I am, I am kind of pissed too. And we have already established when I'm pissed I like to have you with me." By the tone of his voice he didn't sound pissed at all. "You also look little agitated. I'd like to believe perhaps you would appreciate my company too. So want to come?" His finger curled around a strand of my hair and his lips curved into a heart-melting smile.
Was he seducing me?... If he was then it was working.
"Where are you planning to go?" I asked as he took my hand and played with my fingers.
"Where I can have you all to myself." And just like that we were marching out of the school's backdoor.
A moment later we were in his black Rover and pulling out of the parking lot. I wasn't the type to ditch school, but then again, with Noah I was doing lots of things I hadn't done before. I felt the rush doing something as trivial as bunking classes with him.
"Gordon asked me to put a leash on you, I bet he'd be so disappointed in me right now," I commented as Noah drove along the trail of long trees.
"I'm not your dog, Martin."
I giggled. "Yeah, you're a wild wolf, who so needs to be tamed."
"Tamed?" Noah scoffed. "I'd like to see you try."
"Challenge accepted." I grinned and he chuckled.
Turned out Noah didn't have enough of last night as he brought me to his large home. Not long after I found myself in his room and fighting off his jacket.
Our lips molded against each other as I was being led to his bed. Once his jacket was off, my fingers trailed his shaven cheeks before moving upward and copping the feel of his soft blond hair. I was pushed down on the mattress with Noah trapping me between his arms.
Our kisses turned hot. I whimpered when he bit my lower lip.
He pulled away and smirked down at me arrogantly. "I'll enjoy taming you more. I think we're already half way there."
"I don't think so." I spanked his bottom loudly.
I smiled smugly when he looked at me in mock anger. "You little minx," he growled and it was all the warning I needed for his upcoming assault. I was reduced to a hot moaning mess underneath him. I couldn't resist his methods of taming me.
I so not regretted skipping school with him. Spending time with him was much more pleasurable. I was getting addicted to this goblin boy. Or I already was.
"It hurts to stay away from you," Noah whispered, gathering me in his arms. I was in the same boat. We were lying on the bed, spent from the eternity of making out and getting frisky. He kissed my jaw. "What are you doing to me Giselle Martin?"
I buried my face in his neck, inhaling his unique scent mixed with some expensive cologne. "You're the magical one out of us two. You should know," I murmured against his skin, feeling him shiver slightly.
"You don't lack magic either Martin."
"If only I knew how to use it I'd make you little less arrogant," I teased him, kissing his neck.
"You're still hung up on what Gordon said," groaned Noah, "ignore him, he was angry. I'm guessing he already had a fight with Elijah, and he found a chance to take it out on me."
I chuckled. "Maybe, but he wasn't entirely wrong." I propped myself on my elbows and met his green eyes. "I'm thinking maybe Elijah isn't wrong too. I've given a thought about what he said to me at the party. You know, about going to the realm."
"Giselle, you don't have to do anything or force yourself to go anywhere just because he demanded." Noah's brows furrowed, brightness in his eyes overtaken by seriousness. "I might see Elijah as my king, but he doesn't get to order you. I have set my boundaries, and you are where he can't cross."
"Of course, I am not being ordered to do anything. It's just..." I sighed. "I feel like I am denying a large part of you by not seeing or experiencing the world where you came from. And it's just because I had one bad experience on my first visit. It won't be fair to you, to us. You accepted all of me, even though having a human companion is very strange and new to you too."
"There's nothing bad about you to not accept. You being human doesn't change my feelings for you."
"See," I said, proving the point, "and you belonging to another magic world doesn't change mine either. I shouldn't let my stupid fear control me from going back there, especially when I'm gifted with the ability to cross over to there, unlike other humans. What if one day you really have to go back to Wrausall and take over your duties. Elijah is right I won't be able to stay away from you. I want to be with you."
"I'm not taking over any duties unless Elijah is there with me."
"I said what if. Besides who knows Elijah might end up being the king," I threw out. Future is always uncertain.
Noah sighed. "I'm not against taking you to the Realm. I just don't want you to feel pressured that you have to go there. Your fears aren't stupid. Celestial Realm could be a dangerous place for a human, not that any have gone there besides you and your brother."
"But you'll be there with me. I won't be taking this leap of faith if I didn't trust you."
He pulled me back to lie on his arm and faced me. "You really want to go?" He asked, his gaze boring into mine.
"Only if you'll take me."
