Chapter 18

It was around seven when Noah drove me home. If he had his way I wouldn't be stepping out of his house ever, but I had to remind him of the school tomorrow, and of course my mother who was waiting for me. The fat pout that had adorned his face when it was time for me to leave still made me giggle.

He was always so stoic, but I loved how expressive he was with me.

"I should go," I whispered, my breath heavy.

"Just a minute," Noah coaxed and leaned in for another kiss.

Right now we were inside his car which was parked in front of my house. I wasn't going to get out of here until this guy kissed me to his heart's content. Not that I was any less to blame. I couldn't deny the sparks that flew between us. We got the taste of each other and now it was even harder to curb our urges.

I was grateful for the tinted windows that hid us from the outside world.

"If we continue like this then we'll be spending our whole night in your car," I said as we pulled away.

"I see no problem in that." Noah smirked.

I bit down a smile and shook my head. "I'm not spending a night in car, so you better let me go mister."

"Nah," he teased, his hold on my arms tightening.

I raised my brows and his eyes shone with challenge. Oh, someone wants to play.

I tried to shake him off me. It didn't work. He was too strong. "Not fair," I huffed, struggling to get out of his hold, "you big bad goblin." I was caged inside his arms.

"Try a little harder to beat this big bad goblin Martin," he taunted, not seeming to put even a little bit of effort in stopping me.

After another minute of thrashing against him, I stopped and glared at him. His emerald eyes met mine, amusement and satisfaction swirling in them. He was so enjoying messing with me.

"Let go," I ordered.

"Make me." His face inched closer. Air between us became heavy.

I leaned in too. "Noah, let me go."

"No," he replied, his eyes dropping to my lips.

I sucked in a breath before closing the remaining distance between us to kiss him. He moaned as I slowly nibbled on his lower lip. God, he tasted so good and I almost lost myself in the temptation. Almost.

When I felt his grip on me loosened, I bit down on his lip, leaving a sting behind. Before he could recover I jumped out of the car. I laughed when he gave me the look of a man betrayed. He got out too and stood beside the open car door. I took a few cautious steps back, still laughing.

"You didn't play fair Giselle," he said, sounding angry, but the glint in his eyes told me he was more amused.

"You didn't play fair either. I just leveled the field." I flashed a toothy grin.

"Oh, someone's getting clever." Noah chuckled. "Now, come here. I need a proper goodnight kiss."

"Nope, I'm not falling into the trap again. Plus, you got plenty of kisses."

When he gave a light glare I stuck my tongue out and ran toward the front door.

His laughter followed me. "Run. I'll get you tomorrow sweetheart." His tone was light but I knew he was serious.

"Yeah, yeah. We'll see," I said dismissively as I stood at the doorstep and turned to him. I guess I enjoyed poking the beast too. "Now go."

He gave a mocking salute before getting inside the car and driving away. He hadn't even rounded the corner and I already missed him. This thing between us is intense.

I skipped dinner tonight since I was full, courtesy of Noah's house cook Patricia. She was a wonderful human lady in her mid-forties. As promised, Noah had introduced me to her after our late lunch and I thanked her for the delicious food.

Not having dinner meant I was in my bed early. I didn't mind, it saved me the trouble of trying to hide my bruise littered neck from my mother at the dinner table. I wonder how'd she react if she saw them. Probably chase me around the house with a broom.

Sleep didn't come to me. I tossed and turned in my bed. My mind was swarming with thoughts about my supposed companion and his Magic Realm. Now that Noah wasn't here with me I was starting to get restless. I'd be honest, the information that he relayed to me today was hard to swallow. There were things beyond us, in the plain sight, yet somehow so intricately hidden from our eyes.

Then there was a curious case of me being chosen for Noah despite being human. Was it a mistake? An exception that wasn't meant to be... I groaned into the pillow, my temples warning me of incoming headache. Overthinking never did me any good, but I couldn't help myself tonight. I just found out that the boy who I had been infatuated with since the moment I saw him was literally a freaking goblin. And I was his soulmate...

How crazy is that!

Heck! Everything is so crazy.

I could picture a long sleepless night ahead. Maybe I should've taken Noah up on the offer of spending it with him in his car.

When the morning came I was out of the bed before my bedside alarm blared. As expected I hadn't caught much sleep last night. Still I wasn't tired. Maybe it had to do with the excitement of seeing Noah in school.

After shower I put on my favorite sweater and jeans. The concealer didn't do much work in hiding marks on my neck, so I added scarf to the outfit before skipping downstairs for breakfast.

"Good morning," I chirped as I picked a plate and put couple of buttered toasts on it. I then grabbed a cup and poured myself coffee.

"Good morning," Mom said, giving me a glance and raising her brows. "You look happy."

I shrugged. I was happy. I was still high from my yesterday's date. Of course, I was also nervous about lot of things that Noah revealed to me, but keeping my thoughts to him calmed my anxiety.

She smiled and shook her head. "Well, stay happy. It's a good look on you."

I grinned and took a seat next to Gabriel, who by the way still wasn't talking to me, and munched on my toasts.

Barely a minute had passed after I was done with my breakfast when my phone rang. It was Noah.

"Come out when you're done. I'm outside. I'm taking you to school," he said from the other end of line.

"You have to stop showing up at my house unannounced," I chided him, walking to the window. I peeked through the curtains to find him leaning against his Range Rover right outside my house.

The morning light hit him at all the right angles, his skin glowed and his dark blond hair turned a shade lighter. Even though dressed in all black, he looked heavenly. Once again I was in awe of his beauty.

"You should be grateful I'm not climbing into your room through the window." He waved at me.

I couldn't stop a smile curving on my lips. "I'm coming."

I cut the call before calling Gabriel and telling Mom about my ride. We picked our bags and headed for the front door. Gabriel almost dashed out of the door to meet Noah. I think my little brother adores him more than me.

"I hope you remember what I told you the other night Giselle," Mom said just as I was about to close the door behind me, "Noah is good, but be careful."

"Don't worry." I shut the door. My mother wasn't disapproving of Noah, just our relationship. She feared I was setting up myself for a heartbreak. I wonder if she knew who Noah was and what I was to him, would her worries ease or she'd lock me in some high tower.

When I reached the devil in question, his arms snaked around my mid and he dove in right for the kiss. But I turned my head letting his lips fall on my cheek. I wasn't going to give my baby brother a show of us making out.

Noah groaned. "You have to desensitize your brother to us kissing," he whispered, catching on, "it's a normal part of showing affection."

I chuckled. "With the way you go at it we'll be traumatizing him," I replied as I pecked him on his cheek too.

We all got inside the car and Noah drove first to Gabriel's school. My brother kept yapping from the back seat, finding a person to listen to his childish talks. He wasn't speaking to me, so he had to take it out somewhere, and Noah was a perfect candidate.

I liked how they both bonded. Noah was patient and kind to Gab even though he ate his ear off. His smiles and grins told me he probably enjoyed my brother's company too. Well, that little guy was a bundle of charm and cuteness.

I felt a little jealous too at all the attention that Noah was receiving from my brother. I was supposed to be that brat's favorite person. Now it all changed because of that incident in the woods.

"So Gab, your sister told me you got a new friend," Noah said casually between their conversation, "Gorrie, right? Tell me about him."
