"Why hello there! Welcome to the Rant of Mia!"
note: I actually often rant it's not just Kat, but I prefer to keep it to myself. Except for this one time when I exploded on this kid, ranting about The Infernal Devices. It was through text so I sent him a monster one and he didn't reply for like ten minutes even though he read it, so I asked him 'did you die' and he just sent a bunch of red question marks and blocked me a few days after that.
"And without further ado - Mia's rant:"
Covers That Really Get On My Nerves:
- the ones in which title is cut off. Just please
- ones with no title, and are just a picture, like, seriously people, it's not that hard to look up online photo editor and add the freaking title of your book to your cover! Covers are supposed to display your book in way that makes people want to read it, so, while a picture of a crying does show that it's a sad book, it does not help me learn anything else about the book, like what the actual plot is, who the characters are, and, I don't know, maybe the TITLE!
- it is even worse when these "covers" are mere screenshots of pictures that could have easily been downloaded. We do not need to know that you got your picture of a sexy werewolf from someone's Instagram post
- now, I do appreciate it when author's put a little more work into their covers, but still, it does get on my nerves when they have absolutely no taste for fonts or colors
- it's also extremely aggravating when in their bio it says something like "I make covers!" or "you can request for covers if you need one!" like seriously, judging from the covers for your books, you don't appear to be very experienced at all with covers, and therefore should not be offering to make covers for other people
