It took about 20 minutes to pass the line of horse-drawn carriages lining the bridge and wait in a line of only travelers and tourists to be inspected by security.
The sun had already set, but there were still about 15 people behind me trying to get into the city.
âThen we will begin our examinationâ¦â¦..First, could you please remove your hood?â
âItâs been a while. Macbeth.â
I remove my robe as Macbeth, the squire-major, tells me to do.
âMaster Chrisâ
Macbeth looks astonished, and then bursts into tears.
âWhatâs wrong with you, Macbeth?â
âHeâs home! Chris is back!â
Macbeth shouted to the guards at the checkpoint.
âChris is back?â
âDoes that mean we can go back to our old lives?â
âYes!!!â
The guards cheered, threw down their work, and swarmed me.
âWhat the hellâ
I asked Macbeth as I tried with all my might to avoid the guards who tried to hug me one after another.
âPlease donât ask, Chris. I donât want to relive those hellish days.â
Macbeth looked longingly at me.
From the look of Macbeth and the movement of the guards I got the general idea. Yulis training must have been very strict. And seeing as how Macbeth is as a security guard, Iâm guessing heâs being forced to work outside of his training as wellâ¦â¦.
âHow did you manage to do that without running away?â
âYes. Sheâs also good with the whip and the candy. That woman isâ¦â¦.â
Yulis really is a superhuman, isnât she?
As I put the guards back to work, I had a small thought.
âThatâs not the point, Master Chris! Please hurry back to the lordâs mansion!â
âOh, yeah.â
Macbeth pressured me to agree.
âWell then, Master Chris, youâd better hurry up and get there!ãHurry up!â
I didnât want to leave, but Macbethâs strong gaze made me feel that I had to go, so I hurried back.

I climbed the stairs and opened the door to the office where I had been for longer than I had slept since I became a lord. When I entered the room, I found Yulis at my desk with her papers spread out and her candlestick lit.
The room was no different from the one before I went to the school, but the chair had been replaced with an opulent throne-like chair that looked extremely expensive, and Yulis looked strangely presentable sitting there.
âIâm home Yulis.â
âDear Chris.â
Yulis held her hands and arranged her shining, beautiful silver then raised her face. She looked expressionless as usual, but somewhat pouty, so I gave her a word of concern so as not to offend her.
âThank you so much for taking care of things while I was at school.â
âIâm always in charge, arenât I? Is there anything else I can do for you?â
Well, thatâs trueâ¦â¦I almost forgot that Yulis is the head maid.
âLetâs seeâ¦â¦.â
Iâm at a loss for words and Yulis mood becomes even more frightening. If I donât remember soon, it will be bad.
âThere are two things you need to tell me, Chris-sama.â
Two things I canât think of anything right now
âFor entrusting you with the training of the Viscount family and the training of the civil servants, for making you secure a route to bring out your brothers from the royal capital and also forâ¦â¦â
I mentioned the most terrible jobs I had Yulis do but her grumpy aura did not subside, so I apologized honestly.
âIâm sorry, I donâtâ¦â¦understand.â
Yulis sighed and opened her mouth.
âListen, Master Chris. I donât care about everything youâve said. What you need to tell me is why you didnât send me any news while you were at school, and that youâre sorry for coming home so late.â
I wondered if that was the point, and why she knew that I had deliberately delayed my return, but my past experience warned me that it would be dangerous to question her unnecessarily.
âIâm sorry. Iâll write you a letter next time, and Iâll come straight home.â
âThatâs right. Please try to do that next time. Otherwiseâ¦â¦â
âOr else?â
I stopped speaking in the middle of the sentence and asked Yulis, who blushed, but I was in a hurry to realize that I had done something tactless if I had stopped to say it right away.
âIâm sorry! It was nothing! Iâm going to bed now! Good night!â
âPlease wait, Master Chris.â
I was about to leave the room, but Yulis stopped me.
âWhat is it? I want to go to bedâ¦â¦.â
âI have a lot of things I want to entrust to Chris-sama starting tomorrow. Itâs good to go to bed early. Besidesâ¦â
Ugh. I didnât know Iâd be forced to do a lot of work as soon as I got homeâ¦â¦
âI⦠Iâve always thought. I think itâs a given that you wonât make a mistake next time, and I think the sin you committed this time will go away. You donât have to worry about it at all, Chris.â
âSeriously?â
âIâm going to take a bath and then go to bed, but Iâm so tired I donât know if I have enough energy left to go back to my roomâ¦â¦.â
âThatâs tough.â
âYes. So itâs no use for me to rest in Chris-samaâs room, right?â
ââ¦â¦Yes.â
I was dissatisfied, but there was no other way but to allow it.
