Huh. What should I do about Claire and Alfredâs study group? I donât know how I can find the time. Should I just teach them the subjects theyâre likely to receive? Iâm sure theyâll blame me if they get bad marks. Oh, what should I do?
I was lost in my thoughts, worrying about this and that, and before I knew it, I had arrived at the infirmary. Well, I guess Iâll have to listen to Aliceâs farewell talk about how sheâs going to have to leave here to make me feel better.
I knocked on the door with great enthusiasm.
As I waited for an answer, the door opened and a man with brown hair came out from inside. He was wearing clean clothes, so I guessed he was the school doctor.
I called out to him.
âExcuse me. Iâm here to deliver a package.â
âOh. You must be the Dreschord guy. Miss Americia is waiting for you inside. She seems to be in good health with no fever, but donât talk too long because you never know what might happen.â
With that, the doctor turns to leave the room.
âYes. Where are you going?â
âIâm going to wait at the front of the room. I canât eavesdrop on your conversation with Americia-sama. If anything happens, call me right away.â
To be honest, I was hoping that I could use the doctor to get out talking to Alice, but if thatâs the case, I guess Iâll just have to do it.
âI understand. I will end the conversation as soon as I can.â
âYeah, you do that.â
The school doctor patted me on the shoulder in passing. We switched places and I entered the infirmary, closing the door behind me.
Inside the doctorâs office, there was a shelf with some unknown jars lined up against the wall, a wooden desk and chair next to it. The beds were lined up from the center to the end of the room. Alice was sitting on the bed closest to the entrance.
I whispered to Alice so that the school doctor would not hear me.
âAre you okay?â
Aliceâs mouth twitched in annoyance. She then replied in a whisper.
âIâm not okay. My back hurts from being forced to go to the infirmary.â
I supported Aliceâs luggage with both hands and held it out in front of her.
âThank you. Put it there.â
I did as Alice asked, carefully placing the luggage where she pointed, so as not to make any noise.
âSo, whatâs this about?â
âRight, letâs talk!â
Aliceâs smile became radiant, and the gloomy state she had been in disappeared.
I have a bad feeling about this. Whenever Alice looks happy like this, nothing good has ever happened. I felt like running away was the only way to escape.
I quickly stood up and turned my back on Alice, started walking and said goodbye to her without stopping.
âIâll let you rest then.â
âWait!â
Suddenly, my body was pulled backwards. When I looked, I saw that Alice had her arms around my waist and her hands clasped tightly at my navel. We were standing together, like two people riding a bicycle.
âGet off me. I feel like going home right now. Please Alice, let me go.â
âNo! I wonât let go! Iâm not letting you go until you listen to me!â
âNo, a sick person should be at rest! Shut up and go to sleep!â
âIâm not sick! You shut up and listen to me!â
âNo! I donât feel like listening to you!â
Then Alice dropped to her knees and clung to me, her face pressed tightly to my waist. As she does, the arm around my waist slips down, and if I keep going, her hand will be in a very dangerous position. Oh no. If I am held there, I will die of extreme pain.
I tried to untie Aliceâs thin arm, but she was gripping it with a strength I couldnât imagine from her appearance, and I couldnât seem to get it off. I donât understand why sheâs always so strong when she clings to me!
âPlease, just listen to me!â
Alice complained in a tearful voice. Oh no, Aliceâs hands are almost at my feet! Itâs no use! I have to talk to her as soon as possible and get her to let me go!
âAll right!â
âNo! Iâm not letting go until you listen to me!â
âJust talk to me!â
âIâm not going to let you go!â
âIâll listen to you, just let me go!â
Finally, Aliceâs arms relaxed. Oh, thank Godâ¦â¦.
âReally?â
Alice asks, looking up at me, her big beautiful eyes watering.
âReally!â
When I urged Alice to talk to me, she blushed and gave me a sparkling smile. Iâve got a bad feeling about this alreadyâ¦â¦.
âFather set up a study area for me and Chris to study together! Now I can study without worrying!â
My eyes went black, and I fell to my knees.
âWhatâs wrong, Chris?â
How did that happen! Is the king a fool? Normally, it would be unacceptable to allow an unmarried princess to get close to a nobleman of the rank of viscount! On the contrary, itâs insane to prepare a place to study so that she could get close to him.
This is a bad dream! Yay! I donât have to have a study session with Alfred, Claire, or Alice! This is a really bad dream!
I held out my arm to Alice.
âWell, the sooner I wake up from the bad dream, the better. Alice, pinch me.â
âWhatâs wrong with you?â
âJust pinch me, please.â
âWhy are you so brazenly asking the princess to do something so weird?â¦..Okay, okay. Here, how about this?â
Then Alice pinched my arm.
âDoes it hurt?â
âOf course it hurts! Why are you asking me that?â
The stabbing pain in my arm made me realize that I had been awakened from my dream of having no study sessions and a normal life.
