C26: Expedition to the Royal Capital Reflection Session
I got up on the side of the road, woke up my squires, and hurriedly left the capital to go home.
I canât recall anything from yesterday but Iâm pretty sure I drank a bottle of Kahlua milkâ¦â¦. After that, I spent the next few days riding back to my own territory in a horse-drawn wagon, my ass damaged by the. When I found the familiar, beautifully paved cobblestone streets, I felt like crying at the thought of being back home, even though I had been away for less than a few weeks. Thatâs how much I enjoyed my life in the royal capital.
The squires were also on the verge of tears. Thatâs how much they donât want to go back to the territory. They hadnât done much work at all in the capital, and they had been drinking and playing in adult stores all dayâ¦
In the meantime, we arrived at the lordâs mansion. I was dropped off at the entrance of the lordâs house, and the squires and I broke up there.
âWelcome back, Master Chris.â
I opened the front door and there she was, a silver-haired woman in a maidâs uniform.
âIâm back, Yulis. Youâve been waiting for a long time, havenât you?â
âYes. Iâve been waiting here every day for your return.â
Yulis said, smiling gently like a flower. Ugh, cute.
âMy sister, you lie like you breathe. You were only here by chance.â
Hal, who appeared from behind Yulis, said in disgust. No way! She almost got me with the gap between her normal cold expression and her smile!
âI think we should really talk about that, donât you? Sure enough, Chris-sama seemed to be impressed by your idea.â
âMy sister really doesnât take it personally, does she?â
âWell, thatâs not the point. Chris-sama, can you tell us the report of the expedition to the royal capital as soon as possible?â
Youâve blatantly changed the subject⦠I glared at her, but Yulis remained aloof.
âWhere to startâ¦letâs go to the conference room for now.â
Then, a few hours later, I gathered Hal, Zion, Yulis and Hazuki in the conference room.
âWell, where do I start?â
âMaster Chris. What the hell is this thing?â
And then Hal said, pointing at Hazuki with such force that she almost jumped on me as soon as I opened my mouth.
âWhat? Sothebyâs didnât tell you?â
âI heard, but all I asked for was a civil servant. Why are you adding a new job to the mix?â
Hal said angrily. I guess he hasnât been able to sleep since I left most of the paperwork to him while I was in the capital. I forgot to scout for civil servants.
âHey! You! Weâve been officially hired! If you have a problem with that, come out in the open!â
Hazuki also canât stand it when Hal says what he wants, and is trying to grab him.
âWhoa, whoa, whoa! Stop, stop, stop!â
âChris-sama brought her here without consulting me!â
âYouâre the one who hired them, so make sure they know what theyâre doing!â
âIâm sorryâ¦â¦.â
Thatâs scary!
After a bit of silence, I opened my mouth when Yulis cleared her throat twice.
âExcuse me, Hazuki, would you mind introducing yourself?â
When I said that, Hazuki shook her head and got up to open her mouth.
âIâm Hazuki, the master of Bezu Workshop.â
I quickly followed up as Hazuki answered bluntly and succinctly and quickly took her seat.
âHazuki is a skilled craftsman in spite of her appearance, and Iâm hoping that Lizâs workshop will be responsible for the Viscountâs forging work.â
âIf you donât have enough tools to work with youâre welcome to her.â
Zion said with narrowed eyes as I finished his introduction of Hazuki.
âSo, Master Chris. Whereâs the civil servant?â
âIâm sorry. I forgot.â
âWhat the hell?â
Halâs scream echoed.
