Chapter 92- Protecting her Reagan thought he would be able to see his siblings after the babiesâ gender reveal so he had been waiting patiently.
When the parents popped the balloon and pink confetti fell out, he knew he was having baby sisters instead of brothers.
He got confused when he didnât see them fall off the balloon too so he searched for them on the ground and asked his mother, âWhere are the babies, Mommy?â
The adults laughed at those words, thinking Reagan was so adorable.
âYour sisters will come when they are ready. They are still growing in Mommyâs belly,â Aaron answered.
Reaganâs eyebrows hiked up and almost reached his hairline.
âSo how did you know they are girls when you havenât seen them?â He asked with a curious look on his face.
âMommyâs doctor told us. When your sisters are ready to meet us, Iâll take Mommy to the hospital and the doctor will help to remove them from Mommyâs belly,â Aaron explained.
Suddenly, Tessa yelped, clutching her left side. Aaron carefully held her waist and asked, âAre you ok, love?â
Tessa who had just been kicked in the ribs by one of the babies took in a sharp breath. She nodded, replying, âYes, Iâm fine. One of the babies kicked me so hard. They must be feeling cramped up.â
Aaron got on his knee and kissed her big belly. He then placed his hand on her belly and rubbed it, saying, âHi, babies. This is Daddy. Donât hurt Mommy, ok?â
Willa rushed to her mother and rubbed her huge bump. She looked at her with watery eyes and asked, âDid the babies hurt you, Mommy?â
Tessa smiled and nodded, âNo, they didnât. But their kicking hurt.â
Willa rubbed her stomach like the way her father did and whispered to Tessaâs bump, saying, Babies, stop hurting our Mommy, ok?â
The adults laughed at this. Tessa and Aaronâs kids were so cute that they gave the other single adults baby fever.
While watching this beautiful scene, Tony thought to himself, âI want a baby.â
A few days later...
Celia Wentworth was seated in a cafe, waiting for someone. She had asked Tony to meet her during lunch hour because she had something to ask him.
A tall figure entered the cafe and smiled the moment he saw Celia seated next to the floor-to- ceiling glass walls. This man was none other than, Tony Hendrix. The man Celia was waiting for. Smiling, he approached her and took a seat opposite her.
âHi, there. Why do you look as if you are lost in thought?â Tony asked, smirking.
Celia rolled her eyes and called for the waiter. She ignored Tony and ordered food for both of them.
Tony arched an eyebrow and remarked, âHow did you know what I like to eat?â
âYouâre my baby brotherâs friend. Of course, I know what you like,â Celia responded nonchalantly.
However, Tony didnât like the way he referred to her as her âbabyâ brotherâs friend. It sounded as if she was drawing a line between them. For some reason, he didnât want them to be close just because of his connection to her brother.
He cleared his throat and raked his eyes over her body. She was in a royal blue-fitting pencil dress. It was short-sleeved and accentuated her bust perfectly. Her hair was pulled back into a neat low bun and she had light makeup on her face.
Looking into her eyes, he complimented, âYou look ravishing.â
âDonât I always do?â Celia replied with a cocky smirk.
Tony chuckled and shook his head, âYes, you do. I was just appreciating you. So, tell me. What did you want to talk about?â
Celia took out her phone and unlocked it before giving it to Tony. She said, âRead those texts. Marco has been harassing me. He doesnât believe that I left him. He thought I was only angry and came back home to vent. He didnât expect me to be serious. Now he wants me back and heâs threatening to come for me.â
Tonyâs jaws clenched and he narrowed his eyes as he read the texts from Celiaâs Ex-husband.
Marco: [Mia Cara. I miss you. Come back home. Are you still upset with me? I just fucked a bitch... so what? Youâre the one whoâs special to me.]
Marco: [I donât care that you canât have kids. Other women can give me kids but you are my Queen. I only love you.]
Marco: [Did you cheat on me? Is that why you divorced me? Stop playing around. If you donât come home, Iâll come for you.]
Silence befell them as Tony read the messages. For a moment, he was bereft of words. He couldnât understand how Celia could have fallen for a man who was so disrespectful.
2/5 He glanced at her and asked, âIs this the man you married? Is he the man who you gave up the company for? He cheated on you and acts like itâs no big deal? Celia, this man didnât deserve you at all. Why were you with such a prick?â
Celia gritted her teeth and replied through clenched teeth, âHe wasnât always like that. He was nice and he treated me well. In him, I found comfort. Perhaps I was young... when he took me from here and made me a housewife, I thought it was because he loved me and only wanted me to relax and enjoy life.
I didnât know that he had another life out there that he didnât want me to know about. He didnât want me to know about his harem of women at his club or how one of his whores bore his child.
I realised too late that he was lying to me. He kept me in the dark in the guise of pampering me. I lost myself, my drive to be a successful businesswoman... I realised too late that he was taming me. At first, I heard rumours of him having a lot of women but I couldnât believe it. I he treated me so well. Why would he cheat on me?
mean, Little did I know that ignoring that red flag led to me indirectly being ok with his cheating. He would return smelling of cheap female perfume and lipstick marks on his shirts. I donât know if I was just naive or if I believed in our love so much, I believed him when he said the dancers were throwing themselves at him but he pushed them away.
The day he brought a three-year-old son and asked me to raise him, I picked up my bags and left. It confirmed that the rumours were true. Marco didnât love me. I was just his trophy wife. I didnât even think twice. I left because I knew my worth. He knew how deeply affected I was by not being able to have a child. But he fathered one and brought him home for me to raise... how cruel.â
Tonyâs heart clenched as Celia narrated her story. He reached for her hand on the table and squeezed it comfortingly. âIâm so sorry. Is that why youâve been selling off the businesses you have in Italy? Is it because you donât want to donât want to go back?â
Celia had contacted him before because she needed help with the legal processes of transferring ownership of the businesses she had in Italy.
She nodded and replied, âYes. I donât want to be linked to anything that reminds me of my former marriage. I want to get rid of all the memories that I thought were special. They donât mean anything if I wasnât the only woman in his heart.â
To Celia, it didnât matter how much Marco Carreta treated her like a Queen. The fact that he had other women was a turn-off for her. No one likes to share.
The only reason she gave up everything to leave her home was because of true love. However, it is not true love if other women are involved. True love is between two people.
âI want to put a restraining order on him. He shouldnât come close to me and I donât want to see him anymore. Neither do I want half of his wealth,â Celia added.
Tony sighed and said, âUnfortunately, a restraining order wouldnât work well since heâs a foreigner. We can use our connections and ban him from entry into the Country but heâs a Mafia don. They have their ways.
Besides, he hasnât committed a crime against you so we can only order an injunction on him. The court will order him to stop harassing you but heâs an outlaw so we will have to arrange for your protection.â
âPlease, donât tell Aaron about this. I donât want him to be involved with the Mafia. Those people are dangerous,â Celia requested, biting her lower lip worriedly.
âDonât worry. I can protect you all by myself. I donât need your brotherâs help,â Tony flashed her a boyish smile and from nowhere, Celia felt butterflies in her stomach.
âGosh... heâs so handsome,â she thought and blushed.
âBastardo!â
Celiaâs heart jumped to her throat when she suddenly heard a familiar voice. She glanced at Tony and told him, âRun! Marco is already here. Iâm afraid of what he will do to you!â
Tony frowned. He glanced behind and saw a tall man with curly black hair and a rough beard walking towards him angrily. He understood what was going on. He glanced at Celia and shook his head, saying, âIâm not going anywhere. Iâll protect you.â
âNo! You donât understand. He canât do anything to me but he will kill you if he thinks thereâs something going on between us.
Please, leave!â Celia pleaded but Tony stood his ground.
âI would rather die than leave a beauty whoâs about to be harassed by her psycho Ex-husband, Tony responded, smirking.
The man who had approached them was indeed Marco Carreta, Celiaâs Ex-husband. He had been following Celia and he saw her meet a man and they held hands! He finally understood why she suddenly asked for a divorce. She was cheating on him!
She broke their vows and ran away with another man! He knew that she was using his son as an excuse to be with her lover.
When he reached their table he flipped it and pointed a gun to Tonyâs head. Through gritted teeth, he hissed, âBastardo! How dare you try to steal my wife? How dare you touch what is mine?â
Celiaâs stomach twisted. Her eyes widened and she cried, âMarco, what are you doing? Heâs not my lover! I didnât leave because Iâm cheating, do you think Iâm like you? I left because you broke our vows!â
Marco looked around the room and lifted his free hand. About a dozen bodyguards rushed into the cafe and took the terrified people who were there outside.
âI had said sorry. Are you that unforgiving? What did I do so wrong that you went as far as 4/5 divorcing me?â Marco asked.
His gun was still pointed at a very calm Tony while his eyes had narrowed down on Celia.
âYou agreed and signed the divorce papers!â Celia snapped, her eyes bloodshot.
âThatâs because I thought you werenât serious! This is why Iâve come back for you! You are mine and you can only be mine!â
Marco hissed, cocking his pistol.
Celiaâs heart galloped like a racing horse. She got down on her knees and begged, tears streaming down her face. âMarco, please. Donât hurt him.â
Seeing Celia who was always proud and haughty pleading for another man caused jealousy to flare through Marco. His eyes flashed dangerously.
âYou love him that much?â He questioned while withdrawing his hand that was holding the gun. Without turning, he ordered his bodyguards, âBeat him up and break his legs. Make sure he doesnât have the strength to come near my woman again.â
