"I have an announcement to make." My brother Louis spoke nervously. I looked up at him through my lashes.

"What is it hon?" My mother asked as she set down her fork. The family put down their food and turned their attention to Louis.

"I wanted to try out for the X-factor."

Everyone encouraged him with, 'You should!' And 'I think that you'll do great!', but my heart stopped.

I knew how well Louis could sing, and I knew how far he could go. He would be away from home for so long; I would barley ever see him!

"You can't." I said. Everyone became quiet and looked at me.

"Why not Isabel? Louis has a lovely voice." My mother quietly scolded me. I shook my head and held my tears back.

"You can't go Louis. You... You can't sing and you'll just embarrass yourself up there."

"Isabel!" Lottie gasped.

"What?" I asked her. "Louis isn't very good in my opinion. He should just stay home with us and not leave for years on end."

I slammed my cup down on the table and ran up to my room. Tears blurred my vision as I slammed myself down on my mattress and cried.

A nock on my door soon sounded. "Not right now." I called out to whoever was behind it. The door opened and Louis stepped inside. "I said go away."

He sat down on the bed and held me in his arms. I cried onto his shirt and he hummed to me.

"Listen. I know that you didn't mean those things that you said." He spoke quietly.

"I don't want you to leave." I cried onto his sweater sleeve. He wiped away my tears and smiled sadly.

"I won't go away. I don't even know if I will get in! But I promise you, if I somehow become super famous or something, I will call and Skype you everyday. I will also visit whenever I can."

"Promise?" I held up my pinkie and Louis chuckled.

"Promise."

I wrapped my small pinkie around his large one and smiled. Louis hugged me again and sang me to sleep.
