âI think Iâll go jogging with you this morning, Phillip,â I say as he rolls out of bed.
âReally? Are you sure youâre feeling up to it?â
âYeah, I didnât feel as sick yesterday, and I want to try to stay in shape. They say it makes both your delivery and recovery easier. Plus, I miss running.â
He pulls me up. âIâve missed running with you. Dress warm though; itâs pretty chilly.â
I put on my winter running gear and follow Phillip out the front door.
âWhew, it is pretty cold!â I say, practically seeing my breath crystalize before me.
âItâs not bad once you get going.â
As weâre jogging around the lake, Phillip says, âSo, our one-month anniversary is the day before Valentineâs Day. I think we should do something special since itâs our first Valentineâs Day as a couple.â
âYouâve given me flowers for as long as I can remember.â
âThatâs because I had a big crush on you. Do you have anything you want to do, or should I plan something?â
âLetâs plan it together. Our anniversary is Tuesday, and Valentineâs Day is Wednesday.â
âYeah, itâs during the week. I was thinking we could take a couple of days off. Maybe spend one day looking at baby stuff. I know youâve been looking at ideas on how to decorate the nursery. Are you excited to buy all that?â
âI am, Phillip, but I donât want to get anything yet.â
âWhy not?â
âIâd like to wait until after our ultrasound. Make sure everything is okay.â
He solemnly nods his head. âIâve been flipping through the pregnancy book. There is a lot that can go wrong, isnât there?â
âPhillip, youâre not reading worst-case scenarios for the first trimester, are you?â
He shrugs. âYou know I like to be prepared for the worst.â
âI donât even want to consider the worst.â
âThatâs fine. You let me worry about all that.â
âIs it freaking you out a little?â
âNo, not at all. So, back to our anniversary, I was thinking maybe we could go shopping. Maybe get a coupleâs massage. Come back to our house for some fun.â
âDo you remember when we first got togetherâhow we did it in every room in my condo?â
He grins. âOh, I remember that well. It was like the Around the World basketball game we used to play. Only I was scoring in every room.â
âWe have a lot more rooms in our new house,â I suggest.
âAnd thatâs how you want to spend our two days?â
I give a casual shoulder shrug. âItâs just a thought. Depends on if we can be alone.â
âIâll make sure we are.â
âI love the idea of sleeping in, shopping, having a long and leisurely lunch, shopping a little more, and then coming home and relaxing. Maybe a picnic in front of our fireplace.â
âA naked picnic?â
âI was thinking you might like to go shopping for some lingerie, too.â
âOh, I like that idea. Itâs a date.â
