Chapter 31: Chapter XXX

Aphrodite's pov:

As soon as Persephone and I disposed of the body, we went to see Oizys.

"Do you think she's still resting?" I ask, a little curious that maybe we get to see her mortal form.

"If she wants to keep hanging around some more to reclaim our believes she'll have to be. My antidote isn't complete yet." Persephone responded.

"How long have you been working on it now?"

I'm genuinely curious. I have only been with them for a good two centuries. Even if people no longer believe in us, we're still gods. We can still crush them with a flick of our wrist. Why would we try to live along side them if we can rule like we always have?

Oizys helped me see that truth. She helped me see what we can still do. If it means a few casualties on the side? So be it. Soon enough the other Olympians will see it too.

"Say a good 500 years now." Persephone estimated.

She was one of Oizys' first followers when the goddess of misery had realised that the power was still there. Waiting to be taken by those deserving of it. Why not us Greek gods?

We got to Oizys' loft and stood in front of the door. Both of us hesitated. We looked at each other like middle schoolers that didn't dare knock on the door.

"I knock, you do the talking." Persephone said.

"Why do I have to talk? She's terrifying when she just re-takes her immortal form. I knock, you talk." I protest.

"Why should I talk?" The queen of the underworld shot back.

"Urm, because it's your creepy poison." I reason with her.

"Fine, I'll do the talking." She grumbled.

Easier than I thought. Satisfied I knock. I don't hear anything. So I knock again, but a little more urgent. I hear a loud thud and groaning. I hear things fall over. As if Oizys is bumping into a bunch of things.

The door slides open and a young woman is revealed. I have no idea who she is. She's dressed in... Well nothing... Only covered by some bed sheets.

Next to me the fierce queen of the underworld turns her eyes towards the floor and blushes a deep gold.

"Well hello." I mutter, raising a brow.

"Uh... Who are you?" The woman asked.

"Nevermind that, who are you?" I ask, curiously.

I let my eyes roll over her body. She has a pale skintone. She's on the smaller side and has a bit of a petite figure. Her hair is dark, with blonde highlights.

Then her eyes light up with a golden rim.

"Aph, stop flirting with my mortal!" The voice of Oizys growled.

"What are you two here for anyway."

"Aph volunteered for a rapport on how things went with Astraea." Persephone said.

I looked at her with a look full of hurt. That backstabbing traitor.

"Mhm give me a moment." Oizys grunted.

The door closed once more. I glared at the woman next to me.

"How dare you! What have I done to offend you?!" I exclaimed in a lowered voice.

"Nothing in particular, I just don't want to deal with her right after she morphed." Persephone shrugged.

"So you just let me do it?! Wonderful ally I have." I responded, shaking my head.

The door slid open again. Oizys appeared, a grumpy look on her face.

"What are you two doing?" She asked.

"Nevermind, I don't want to know. Just enter and get to it."

Persephone was about to walk away when Oizys stopped her.

"Death Queen, where are you going darling?" Oizys asked.

"Uhhh... My lab?" She tried.

"Not happening. You're update on the anidote is late. Get in here and explain."

I couldn't help, but snicker on my way in, Persephone scowling behind me.

"Take a seat ladies." The goddess of misery said and gestured at a table near a panoramic window.

It gave a good look of the city below and in the distance you could make out the park, with the willow. The base of the other gods.

Persephone's pov:

I've been here before and yet everytime I enter it amazes me.

When you enter the loft you look straight onto a glass wall. The panoramic window. To your left was the huge open kitchen and to the right an open living room.

Above the flat-screen TV hang two crossed dubble bladed axes. Oizys' favorite weapons.

On either side of the TV were two doors. One I knew led to the bed room. The other? To be honest I have no clue. I'd never been there before.

And scattered on the floor were broken pieces of what I assumed was a vase and a little statue. Must've been her host earlier.

After we sat down Aphrodite gave the full story, with every detail to Oizys.

"Oh do you want to know the best part?" Aph asked excitedly.

Oizys rolled her eyes. It was clear she wasn't up for this yet. Usually after morphing she was rather annoyed. She felt that morphing was a waste of time. The same for all the time she spent actually being her host. It always made her... Touchy.

"Get on with it. I don't have time for this." She grumbled.

"Right, well, Athena and Hestia's host saw everything. They have been traumatized for sure."

The goddess of love clasped her hands together and smiled. The same way she would've done if she'd chosen an outfit and liked the way it looked on her.

Oizys got a smirk on her face.

"That is good news. That means I can use it to black mail them into what I want. And when I no longer need them, you give them their final seringe if torture." She said, looking at me.

Her eyes gleamed with a psychotic light.

"Just give me the command." I smirked back.

"How about the antidote? Is it coming along? Why did you miss the last update?" She questioned.

"I ran out of moonlace and had to wait for a new batch. The troops that were at the beach have already had a first dose. Your next dose should be done by tomorrow afternoon." I inform her.

"Good, I can't stand this mortal body. It's decaying faster than the last one." She grumbled.

"How far is she?" I ask.

That way I know how much of the antidote she might need for the next dose.

"Both knees hurt on a regular now. She can't bend her right ankle and her wrists are starting to hurt as well."

With every word she said she become more annoyed. I think she hated being stuck to a mortal lifeline.

"That means..." I utter.

"That I need a bigger dose then last time." Oizys said, her eyes almost daggers.

"But, I can barely make the dose bigger. What if you get addicted?" I reminded her.

"I won't get addicted. But I need more if I want to keep leading these troops to the worship they deserve."

Her hand slammed the glass table by the time she was done speaking. For a moment I feared it would shatter, but somehow it held.

"I will get you the dose you need. Tomorrow afternoon, as promised." I said, after a bit of silence.

Another moment of silence. It seemed like Oizys was fighting with herself in her own mind. Her eyes were glassy and switched between a golden rim and her now regular purple eyes. A moment later her eyes refocused and the golden rim disappeared.

"How is the poisonous load coming along?" The goddess of misery asked.

"We have batches for all the remaining Olympians, but not enough for all their allies yet." I inform her.

"Mhm, keep working then. I want them all shocked out of their hosts bodies. The longer it takes for them to regenerate, the more time I have to return the world to worshipping the gods." She said as her purple eyes gleamed.
