REWRITTEN.
Five, Violet and Klaus stood in that order on the opposite side of Dr Lance's desk, although only two remained visible.
When she got up to shower, leaving Five to sleep as she figured he'd deserved it, he had been gone once she went back.
She began pacing in her room anxiously in wait for him to return, and when he did, he explained where he had been that was so important.
So later, Violet had insisted on coming with them and had subtly linked her pinky finger through Fives as they walked and waited in the elevator.
Once in the room, she stood by his side and watched, completely invisible to the naked eye. She much preferred to remain unseen during social interactions, so this was fine for her. She could only imagine this was what being a fly on the wall felt like.
It was oddly intrusive.
"Like I said to your son earlier, any information about the prosthetics we build is strictly confidential. Without the client's consent, I simply cannot help you," the doctor explained condescendingly.
Five leant forwards in frustration. "Well we can't get consent if you don't give us a name." he seethed.
She tightened her finger around his, eyes flickering between the doctor and him. Confrontation wasn't something she liked and this was leaning towards it, and she would slowly begin to regret coming along if it did.
"Well that's not my problem, sorry," Lance shrugged while shuffling papers. "Now, there's really nothing more I can do so-"
Klaus sat up, a glint in his eye. "-and what about my consent?"
There was a pang of confused silence between them all.
"Excuse me?"
"Who gave you permission, to lay your hands on my son?" He paused, fake tears welling in his eyes as he put a hand over his heart.
Violet eyed her brother in amusement, rocking back and forth on her heels.
"What?" Lance and Five questioned, equally dumbfounded.
"You heard me," Klaus said.
"I didn't touch your son," Lance shot back angrily.
"Oh really? Well how did he get that swollen lip then?"
Klaus gestured.
"He doesn't have a swollen-"
Klaus suddenly stood and swung a punch right across Five's face.
Violet jumped back in alarm, pulling her hand from his as she glanced between the two anxiously.
Five rubbed his jaw, staring up at Klaus in astonishment.
Violet inched towards him and stomped on his foot.
Klaus yelped, glancing down before clearing his throat and covering his mouth, trying to act normal.
(She didn't know why he was trying now.)
He shot a glare off to the side - where he assumed Violet was, but she wasn't even close - and she tried not to smile.
Dr Lance was even more confused than before and that was saying something.
"You're crazy." He realised with wide eyes.
"You got no idea," Klaus chuckled. His attention was brought to a little snow globe sat on the desk. "Peace on earth... that's so sweet." He grabbed the globe and shattered it against his forehead, yelling in pain as the shards and water soaked his front. "God, that hurt!"
She twitched, digging her nails into the side of her hand, fighting the urge to approach him becuase of the blood mixing with gitter dripping down his face.
"I'm calling secur-"
He didn't get the chance to finish the sentence as he swiftly leant over and plucked the phone from his hands.
"There's been an assault in Doctor bigs office and we need security, schnell!" Lance looks utterly mortified. "Now here's what's going to happen, Grant."
"It's... Lance."
Klaus continued. "In about sixty seconds, two security guards are gonna burst through that door and see a whole lot of blood and wonder what the hell happened in here. And we're going to tell them that you," he paused for effect, unaware of his siblings proud grins. "Beat the shit out of us."
Five smirked.
"You're gonna do great in prison, grant..." he carried on. "Trust me, I've been there. Little piece of chicken like you. Oh my god, you're gonna get passed around like a- you're just.... you're gonna do great. Thats all I'm saying."
"Jesus, you're real sick in the head." The doctor was aghast.
"Thank you," Klaus said seriously. He spatial a piece of glass out to his side as though it was nothing.
Five swivelled to fix the doctor with a condescending smile, and Violet watched closely from behind as he began hurriedly and nervously rummaging through the filing cabinet.
Violet crept away from the boys and peered over the mans shoulder to see what he was looking at, unable to maintain her curiosity. Partly to ensure he didn't swindle them and lie about the files.
Her face changed when the doctor reached the end of the pile and what they were looking for wasn't there.
If she was visible they'd be able to see her deep frown. She backed away, tapping her fingers on her other hand repeatedly.
"Oh, that's strange," Lance said, shifting through the papers again like there was some mistake.
"What?" Five asked, smug expression dwindling away.
"Uh, the eye. It hasn't been purchased by a client yet," he frowned.
"What? What do you mean?" Klaus jumped down from his perch on the desk, looking over his shoulder too.
"Well, uh, our logs say that the eye with that serial number... this can't be right. It hasn't even been manufactured yet," Lance stared strangely at Five. "Where did you say you got that eye?"
It was safe to say they didn't stick around much longer in his office.
In the elevator, Violet shifted uncomfortably and tried not to tap her foot too loudly. She didn't like elevators, she didn't like the tension in the small enclosed box, and she didn't like that Five was angry.
She didn't like when anyone was angry, to be fair, but seeing him jaded made her uncomfortable.
Five stood stiffly with crossed his arms, scowling at the floor like it was somehow it's fault that this had lead to nowhere.
"You here, sissy?" Klaus whispered over his shoulder, unsure, scanning the tiny elevator up and down.
She soundlessly tapped his shoulder twice and he flinched before composing himself, hand on his chest out of fright.
"A 'yes' would have been less heart attack inducing..."
She rolled her eyes and watched Five out of the corner of her eye. His brain was working a mile a minute to come up with the next plan, she could tell, cogs turning rapidly.
They left together in silence.
Violet had to jog to catch up with their large strides, nearly getting smacked by the door as they exited first. Once outside, she scanned their surroundings quickly while Five argued with Klaus over money.
She snuck behind a pillar and stepped out in her normal physical appearance.
They barely noticed her, too caught up in their bickering.
Violet played with her fingers, cringing internally at the raising voices, despite the fact she could understand Fives frustration given the circumstances.
Sometimes Klaus was too carefree for his own good, but it didn't mean she liked listening to anyone be cruel.
She shifted to sit down on one of the steps, tucking her long skirt under her legs.
"Hey, you know, I've just realised why you're so uptight. You must be horny as hell!" Klaus laughed as Five sat beside Violet. Both looked disturbed up at Klaus, practically pulling the same face at the man. "All those years by yourself," he looked down at Five. "It's gotta screw with your head, being alone."
Violet couldn't help but watch Five curiously as he steeled his gaze to the floor in front of him.
"I wasn't alone," Five stated.
Violet eyed him curiously. This was perhaps the one thing he hadn't told her the night before.
She wanted to hear what he was going to say. He had told her he had been alone. Why hadn't he mentioned that before?
There was a sinking feeling in her stomach.
"Oh?" Klaus was suddenly intrigued. "Pray tell."
"We were together almost thirty years." Was all he answered with, murmuring under his breath and avoiding their gazes.
Klaus began ranbling about a past boyfriend of his as Five took notice of his quiet friend beside him.
When he looked, she was already watching him.
"Are you staying or coming with?" He asked, standing, averting his gaze from hers a moment later.
She bounced her knee up and down in thought.
Violet eyed Klaus, knowing that it probably wouldn't be safe to let him roam free on his own given the fact he had no money on him. He'd most likely find an excuse to use his drugs and she didn't want that for him, so if she could stop it for just a short while she felt it would be worth it.
If she said any of this aloud she was sure she'd be criticised for her naive compulsions to help people, keep them safe, keep them from danger.
It had been so ingrained in her it was an impossible thought in the back of her head to ignore.
She nodded towards Klaus and Fives lips twitched up, soothing her nerves a little. She didn't want him to be offended she was leaving him.
When Five blinked himself into a taxi passing by and waved, she shyly waved back.
She pulled some money out of her pocket a second later and waved it in front of Klauses face to cut off his rambling.
He immediately lit up.
"Violet, you're an angel!"
Before he could take it, however, she held it against her chest with a warning look.
He groaned, tilting his head back and slumping his shoulders. "Fine!"
