Chapter 7: 207. The Rescue

The two of them stayed at the volunteer’s house for the night. The next day, they gathered with the others and set off for the village.

Including Qi Le’an, Wei Changfeng and He Guang, there were a total of nine people on the team of volunteers. There were men and women, some had lost their children, and some were just volunteers. Seeing Qi Le’an and Wei Changfeng, they got really excited, Wei Changfeng told them some interesting stories when he was acting in movies and everyone laughed. With the great morale, they headed to the village.

With Qi Le’an and Wei Changfeng on the team, they decided to change their plan from performing a scientific research to looking for a scene for a film. The nine people were in four cars. As soon as they entered the village, they were watched by the villagers.

He Guang took the lead and showed the head of the villager his identifications. When he said that they wanted to shoot a movie here, the village head was suspicious of it. But when Wei Changfeng and Qi Le’an shwoed up, the young men in the village turned excited, especially the son of the village head who was yelling, “Wei Changfeng! Qi Le’an! Dad! They are really celebrities!”

A group of villagers suddenly came up to take photos and asked for signatures. The volunteers had to block them and said, “Everyone! Don’t rush! If we confirm to shoot the movie here, the two movie stars will have to stay here for a few months!”

In fact, the villagers might not know Wei Changfeng and Qi Le’an. They were just wanting to “take a picture with the stars”.

The identities of Wei Changfeng and Qi Le’an had indeed let the village head’s guard down. He chased out other people, leaving only a few people with prestige in the village. He Guang was not nervous at all. He pretended to be a producer and talked to everyone about the movie. He stressed that the movie was very beneficial. The venue rental payment would be equal to a whole year’s income of a family from fishing.

“However… there are many fishing villages, so we have to make a choice…”

The village head wanted the profit very much and he immediately treated the volunteers as honourable guests, saying, “Then, what do you need if you are to shoot a movie here?”

He Guang said while pretending to be serious, “The director wants us to record the real life of the village. He asks the two leading actors to stay in a family of the village for a while to experience life! I wonder if any family in our village can help with it.”

Seeing that the village head hesitated for a while, He Guang added, “Of course, we are paying for the food and accommodation. A thousand RMB a day for the two actors!”

The villagers beside widened their eyes and shouted, “Choose me! Choose me! My house is good!”

“Oh My God!  A thousand RMB a day! Even fishing on the sea for a whole month nonstop might not make a thousand RMB!”

The villager head was overwhelmed by the power of money, “We can do it! We can surely do it!”

He Guang looked at Wei Changfeng and Qi Le’an and asked, “Mr. Wei, what do you think?”

The group shifted their gazes to Wei Changfeng.

Wei Changfeng smiled and said, “I’m fine with this village. The environment is very consistent with the script. It’s just that I don’t know if there’s a family with children. We need a son who is around eleven or twelve years old, and a daughter who is seven or eight years old.”

“We have a son and a daughter!” As soon as Wei Changfeng finished his words, a rough guy with fine clothes stepped out and said, “My son and daughter both meet the requirements! Stay at my house please!”

Qi Le’an’s eyelids was jumping.

According to the information, the person who spoke was said to be the missing child’s current father.

He Guang made a hesitant expression. The guy then said, “You can come to my house to have a look! My daughter and son are docile and cute!”

The volunteers on the side were hold their breath. He Guang looked at Wei Changfeng and said, “Why don’t we go and see? If they can meet the requirements, we can shoot the movie in this village.”

When the village head heard it, he also stood up and said, “Let’s have a look! Yu Sheng! Hurry up and take the lead!”

The rough man’s name was Yu Sheng. He quickly led everyone out.

Yu Sheng’s family was close to the village head’s, and the group of people arrived there after five minutes. Having a look at the house, the volunteers could tell that Yu Sheng’s family was indeed very rich in the village. While others were living in straw houses, he was living in a house built with bricks and cement. As soon as he entered the house, Yu Sheng shouted to his family, “Wife! Da Bao! Er Niu! Come out and greet the guests!”

The villagers were well informed as well. Yu Sheng’s wife knew that celebrities were coming, so she took her children out. Qi Le’an and the volunteers noticed that Er Niu was exactly the missing child they were looking for. They all started to become nervous.

“These are my son and daughter!” Yu Sheng introduced, “Say hello to uncle!”

The two children looked timidly at the group of strangers. Qi Le’an squatted down to look at the two children and said, “Hello. What’s your name?”

Although Qi Le’an had never said anything before, Yu Sheng knew that he was a “big star”. He then said to the children, “Say hello to uncle… no, to your brother!”

Qi Le’an raised his head and smiled, “It’s okay.”

Then, he took milk candies from his pocket and gave them to the two children.

When Er Niu accepted the candy, Yu Sheng’s wife immediately said, “Wait! Sorry, movie star, Er Niu is allergic to milk.”

The volunteers were startled. They prepared milk candies in advance. They knew that the missing child was also allergic to milk.

Qi Le’an sized Er Niu up and down and saw the mole next to her eye. Perhaps Qi Le’an had watched it for such a long time, Yu Sheng’s wife was a little nervous. “Movie star, this child is afraid of strangers! Er Niu! You go in first!”

Qi Le’an was almost certain that Er Niu was the missing child they were looking for.

He stood up and smiled. “It’s okay. I just saw that your children look good. I’m thinking that I can arrange them to act in my movie.”

His children were chosen to act in a movie!

Yu Sheng’s eyes lit up! But the next second, he seemed to hesitate again and he said, “Children on the seaside are all rough! Not suitable to act in movies… Movie star, do you like my family? Does it meet the requirements?”

Qi Le’an nodded and said to He Guang, “I really like this place. Let’s settle down in this family.”

Yu Sheng immediately rejoiced!

The goal of the volunteers had been achieved, and the next step was to wait for the opportunity. He Guang took out five thousand RMB and said that the two movie stars should stay here and experience the life first. Yu Sheng was so excited that he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. The village head was a little envious. He quickly asked if anyone else needed accommodation.

However, when Qi Le’an and Wei Changfeng moved in, a problem immediately appeared.

Yu Sheng’s wife was hiding Er Niu away, not letting her have the chance to interact with outsiders. On the second day, Er Niu couldn’t be seen at all!

Qi Le’an asked Yu Sheng where his daughter was and Yu Sheng said that she missed her grandmother, so she was living there for a few days.

The volunteer team fell into a dilemma.

He Guang decided to wait for the opportunity and asked Qi Le’an and Wei Changfeng to live there for a few more days.

The village was far away from the city. The weather was hot and suffocating. Qi Le’an felt a little impatient.

He Guang said, “Don’t worry. If I remember it right, the day after tomorrow is Wei Changfeng’s birthday.”

Wei Changfeng nodded and Qi Le’an asked, “You have an idea?”

“We can use the name of your birthday to invite the whole family to gather together. At that time, Er Niu will naturally come back.”

Qi Le’an asked worriedly, “And then?”

“We will take Er Niu away directly.”

However, Qi Le’an frowned and said, “Yu Sheng’s wife is staring closely at Er Niu. We don’t have a chance at all.” He still had some concerns in his heart. If they suddenly made a move when others were around, it would definitely cause damage to their reputation.

Qi Le’an already had some negative reportings before, so he didn’t care, but he didn’t want his Wei Sama to suffer from it.

Qi Le’an felt that it was too risky. Er Niu could be taken away like this, but it was hard to say if the remaining people could leave.

He said, “I disagree. We will be seen when we are taking Er Niu away. When they realize what have happened, they don’t care if we are movie stars or not… ”

He Guang was silent.

Qi Le’an frowned and said, “If I don’t have a plan with a high success rate, I definitely would not agree to do it. He Guang, do you remember? It was you who told us to be patient.”

He Guang sighed deeply and said, “Sorry, my fault…”

“Wait,” Wei Changfeng suddenly said, “Actually, the birthday is a very good excuse. We just need to change something…”

Both of them looked at Wei Changfeng, their eyes shining, “What?”

“When everyone is gathering, I will pretend to be angry and leave. Le’an will chase after me. At that time, the scene must be chaotic. We can take the chance and carry Er Niu away.  Before anyone notice it, the volunteers can use the excuse of looking for us to leave here.”

When Qi Le’an heard this, he felt that this plan was feasible! Except that…

“I should be the one who will be angry. It will be a little weird if Wei Sama is angry.”

Everyone laughed.

Wei Changfeng added, “The whole plan must be carried out quickly. It’s the best to complete it in 10 minutes.”

He Guang said, “Sure! We will get prepared according to this plan! I will go to inform the others… We must get the child back this time!”

Qi Le’an and Wei Changfeng glanced at each other. They knew that finding a child would encourage all families.

“Look, the lost child has been found, then our children will definitely be found as well!”

The next day, He Guang followed the plan and deliberately told Yu Sheng about Wei Changfeng’s birthday in front of the village head. Yu Sheng hesitated at first, but He Guang said, “Call the villagers here too! If the movie stars are happy, then we will be certain to shoot the movie here!”

The village head was afraid that He Guang would change his mind, so he whispered to Yu Sheng, “We have so many people here. What are you afraid of?”

Yu Sheng clenched his teeth and said, “Fine! I’ll tell my wife when I get home!”

Everything was well prepared. What they needed was only a chance.

On June 22nd, 2016, Qi Le’an was celebrating birthday for Wei Changfeng the fifth time in this life.

The two of them got up early and it was silence in the yard. He Guang and the village head had planned that the celebration would be held in the evening when the plan could be carried out more easily when the light was dim.

At noon, Yu Sheng’s wife had taken Er Niu and other relatives back. Even though she was busy in the kitchen, she left the child to her mother and her mother never let Er Niu leave her sight for a second.

The chance did not appear and Qi Le’an was a little anxious. Wei Changfeng said, “Don’t worry. Wait until dinner time.”

At six o’clock, it was still bright. The volunteers gathered and many people in the village had come as well. There was a large table in the courtyard of Yu Sheng’s house. In the kitchen, Yu Sheng’s wife started to prepare dinner.

At seven o’clock, the sun started setting and it was dark and gloomy. Qi Le’an received a text from He Guang and prepared to start his performance.

At half past seven, the lights were on in the courtyard. Wei Changfeng’s birthday cake was placed on the table. The women started to serve the dishes, while the children were playing in the courtyard. Er Niu and her brother were among them.

Qi Le’an and Wei Changfeng walked to the main table and Qi Le’an glanced at Er Niu in the distance. The person watching the child was chatting with others, and the volunteers were also prepared to take Er Niu away at any moment.

Qi Le’an took a deep breath and knew that he was about to start his performance.

This time, he was more nervous than ever.
